Super slow delivery from James Allen

Is it normal for James allen to take such a long time to deliver?

Background.. The order made by friend was on the 12th Dec.. After nearly 1 month wait... Until today... The order status is still reflected as diamond verification.

A check with JA revealed that they are still waiting for the diamond to be shipped to them... After that.. The diamond will be checked prior setting. After this was done.. The shipping will take yet another 5-7 days to reach her (overseas buyer).

My friend was super disappointed by the waiting time.. N she is contemplating whether she should cancel the order...

Anyone with similar experience?

I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and wait a bit longer
 
As long as there is a timeline and a plan I think it’s ok. Most places are struggling a bit in terms of delivery. Not James Allan, but I have a jewellery purchase awaited that has been 35+ days in transit.
 
Yes, it is virtual inventory. Not in house.

Thanks @Snowdrop13 . Sorry to hear that too...hope your purchase will reach you very soon! I will give my friend more assurance that she is not is only one facing this situation.
 
I think that if something is not in-house it may take longer due to covid issues. Did they give you any indication of how long it
may take up-front? She should have clicked on the Fast Shipping button to see which stones were available, well, faster.
Not exactly sure how long "Fast" shipping is.

I click on info about Shipping and it said that Shipping date can be found on the item detail page as well as the shopping cart. Does
your friend have a copy/picture of any of that info to see when they say it would ship?

Edit...I just put a "Fast Shipping" stone (no setting) in my cart and it says ships by Jan 11.
A non-fast-shipping stone says ships by Jan 21.

So what is the date they gave your friend?

James Allen had this problem before the pandemic and during sales.

So they had a sale + overseas + Covid..... unfortunately, yeah, crazy wait times.

You could look for another diamond in house somewhere.

Thanks @tyty333, just checked.. She don't think that the diamond is under the quick shipping.. She didn't notice honestly.

She has a specific choice, an unusual hearts and arrows square radiant.. And hence her choices are limited. Unfortunately.. She also opted for setting the diamond with JA.

Good point on the fast shipping.. I can manage her expectations better using that point.
