Surfgirl vs. Green: Battle of the OECs!

Well, today I met my first PSer in person. It was the lovely Green With Envy, who was in my neck of the woods and mentioned on some thread that she'd like to go to the shop where I got my precious...So we met for lunch, and man! That new bracelet she got in NYC? There are few words to describe the deliciousness of that piece in person! You think it's to die for in the photos? They dont even come close to showing how it really is in real life! It's heavenly. No, it's divine in person. I didn't even ask to try it on because I knew I'd probably bolt for the nearest door if I saw it on my own wrist...It's really a beauty, full of scintillation and fire! And the safety chain isn't even noticeable on the wrist but it's a subtle and interesting component of the piece. We oogled each others jewelry (and her pal who was with her had some wonderful antique watches with diamond embellishments that were fabulous too - one was an antique Tiffany watch with diamonds and sapphires around it - Art Deco era - wow!), then walked over to the shop where I got my ering and proceeded to try on just about everything worth trying on. They were low on erings with old cut center stones but there was one in the window that was the slightly smaller relative of my stone and was set in a gorgeous, delicate plat setting. It was good to know that in a pinch I might be able to find a replacement ering...and of course the shop owner suggested that I buy it as a "back up" ring "just in case"...Yeah, like Mr. Surf will buy that idea...

All in all it was a very fun afternoon and we had a great time talking diamonds and trying on amazing pieces.

Green, thanks for lunch and for making the drive down...That was a blast!

You know what Skippy? Personally speaking of course, I think Green should give me that bracelet because it goes SO well with my ering...It's like they're a set...

mrs.salvo, nope, no photos...sorry...I've posted photos of everything I wore today on PS in the past so you all have seen them already. I had my ering, wband, and my grandmother's transitional cut with two sapphires, and my great grandmother's diamond bow necklace/brooch, which I never realized was made up entirely of OECs! How "duh!" is that?!? I was looking through my jewelry box, deciding what Green might like to see in person when it dawned on me "Surfgirl, you idiot! Your great grandmother's bow pin is probably all OECs and you never bothered to check it out!" And it was...so it was a morning of learning for me as well...Green is like a walking jewelry shop...If you ever meet her in person, it'll blow you away...

Where do you live? How fun! DiamondSeeker is close to me (charlotte). Moremoremore is moving here not sure if she would be interested. I guess MrsS and DS talked about meeting in Ashville.

HOLY GUACAMOLE!!!! Surfgirl''s ring is 1000 times better thsn my bracelet! It is fabulous and the fire was like, I know bad joke here... the southern cali fires of last month! BLAZING WITH NO END IN SITE.

She looked like a beautifullingy present with her awesome bow necklace... rings all clean and shiny... AMAZING!!! I want to see that bow necklace with a low cut black dress for New Year''s eve!!!

We spent like and hour at this antique jewelry store... yummy! Surfgirlf found this danity vintage eternity band made with french cuts... almost looked like sugarloaf diamonds with a loupe if that makes sense.... with engraving and even faded names of the couple on the side... precious! And... it fit me perfectly. Owner knew I totally appreciated how special it is and I talked him down to over 40% off--- I am a killer negotiator.

I need to sleep on it... but I wish that ring could tell us it''s story. And, even more... I wish it fit surfgirl because it really should be hers!

SUCH A FUN DAY... need to do it again soon!
