a set of CZ earrings?

(am i going to get totally busted for posting this here?

i hope not.)

i''m realllllly cravin'' some bling for the lobes, but i probably shouldn''t go out and buy any more diamonds just yet. (my BF is already 2 seconds away from permanetly revoking my pricescope membership.

) but i think a fun pair of CZ studs might satisfy my diamond cravings for a while!

so: does anyone have ''em, do they look convincing, and where should i get ''em? what''s a realistic looking size? and most importantly, can i get a fun-shaped pair, like maybe some OECs, princesses, cushions or jubilees????

i have some rounds but I want some fun ones through Wink I think. No one can tell about mine.

yeah wink does have some fuuuuun ones on his site. anyone know whether he will make earrings with all of those cuts? i suppose i'll just call him up. but is there some reason i wouldn't want to pick certain cuts for studs?

Just don't go too big or you will look like a rapper.

I think the rounds are obviously the most bling for the buck but I bet if you could find a nice cushion set to "match" your honker...that would look cool, almost like he got you both!

but i AM a rapper ame.

just call me re-lo. from the west siiiiide.

Why not!

Surely you know of these two (LINK)- size and shape is there

And you could have a pair of seriously nice settings made (remember THIS thread?) to go with the placeholder stones. If anything can make a pair of CZ more 'believable' than a great cut, than that's a serious setting. The stud settings by Van Craeynest looked particularly fine to me - and they are not too different from the platinum basket settings done for those lever back earrings

Just the respective 0.2 of course...

they would be ok but why not add some color and go with gemstones?

oh wow Ana those cushion earrings are amazing!

thanks for the advice guys.

Do it Reena. Go for the LM setting that Valeria pointed out!

i do LOVE the leon earring settings! but i think i may want studs. any anyway the idea here is to keep it cheap, people!!!

Look, if you wants to be bangin' it with the homey's- you gots to get you some ice. Cool?

My .02? I think asscher or emerald cut studs would be awesome--and the step cuts tend to look most believable in czs...

I wore CZ's in my ears for years, and no one ever thoought they were fake. The only problem with squares or emerald cuts is that they spin some and aren't always straight or aligned with each other. It's not a big deal -- especially if it isn't a major investment, but the beauty of rounds for studs is that they can spin with no visual difference.

I have several pairs -- small and large, that I can pick between to match my mood.

The wink jones interlaps are the most realistic CZs I've seen. I bought a one carat stone for around $10 and took it outside and was blinding by the light return

His stones are fun, cheap, and easily replacable if you lose one!

I have a set of Wink's Signity Star CZ earrings. They are equivalent to a .25c diamond each. I first bought the .50c each but they looked too big on my ears. I have small ears, I guess, and I felt the .50c each looked "fake" and not like what I'd wear on a daily basis. I think my little .25c stones look real, but I'm not a jeweler.

I think a "different" shape (not round) would be fun!

okay, maybe i'll get some wink OEC studs! or jubes. what do you think? i hesitate to get cushions cause i doubt they'll match the shape of my ering stone (cushions vary so much like that). or maybe just princesses. i have a pair of real RB studs (they're pretty small) so i'm craving something a little different.

this is fun!

I have a pair of princess studs I got because I wanted something different... and I just don't like them for earrings. I might set them in something else someday. So my vote is for OECs - I think they would be cool as earrings and would complement your cushion nicely

good--i'm excited! and also i forgot to mention that i have a RHR that appears to contain OEC stones, so it would go well with that too. (i know, i should know, but i've never had it looked at by an expert and the stones look a little different than the classic OECs i've seen. i'll try to post pics of it soon.)

i guess my only concern is that i had a crappy piercing job done when i was little and my holes are very low in my ear, so big stud earrings tend to droop. not that .5 or .75c is enormous, but i've heard that CZs are much heavier than diamonds.

LOL!

ice Q, you're hilarious.

Actually, i believe CZs are lighter than diamonds - can anyone confim?
I'm guessing this since i've heard that certain companies coat their stones w diamond bits to add weight & durability.

Ice Q - FAB!

i luv your posts! welcome to PS!

The GIA Gem Reference Guide says that SG (specific gravity) of a CZ is 5.80 +/- .20, while SG of a diamond is 3.52 +/- .01, so I'd say the CZ is the heavier of the two per given mm measurements.

cflutist speaks the truth.

CZ is around 75% heavier than diamond. Thusly, a CZ's size is referred to in carats only to enable comparison to diamonds. A 6.5 mm CZ is equal in size to a one-carat diamond and actually weighs around 1.75 carats.

Now, cflutist, a question for you: Which do you think is heavier, the Chaminade Concertino or Prokofiev Sonata?

(Re-lo & Alexah thanks... Great to be here)

The Chaminade is the easier of the two to play. I have played them both.
I think the Prokofiev is the heavier of the two, I didn't like it at first, but then it tends to grow on you.
