Oreo is a stray cat I found, and over a decade later I still have her! Rosies because I love my little collection of rose cut diamonds. 86 is the year I was born.

April Baby. I couldn’t believe it was not taken!

Mine’s just sentimental. When I joined in 2005 my dad was going through a serious cancer battle. He’d been diagnosed at 64 years old. He also loved monarch butterflies. He was a “jewelry person,” too, so it seemed fitting. That’s all.

I was quickly signing on to PS and saw my begonia. I should have gone with RubyBegonia, a little tea shop my older sister took me to as a teen.

I always think of Scarlet Begonias like the Grateful Dead song but I don’t really think of the song. Just that the song exists. Lol

Girl you and me have been around since prehistoric PS! We could have chosen any name lol

True, but April Babies get all the diamonds! It was such an obvious choice!

I often wish I had been more creative! But - after all this time, it is what it is... :)

I’m not from Australia and my name isn’t Tina

I can’t remember what I wanted originally, but it was already taken, so it’s just something I made up.

I took my name from my all time favorite TRASH NOVEL {Forever Amber}. I read this in high school and that was it. {little voice} I only read novels in the summer....}

On May 15, 2022 I had a spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) which resulted in a heart attack. It tends to happen in women 45-55 who are/have been flexible.

For my 1 yr survival-versary I thought about throwing a party or going on a trip. But I'm also single never married, so I bought myself a solitaire. I could have died (other women have), and what was I going to do - keep waiting for someone else to buy me a diamond? Naw ...

And now here I am with head full of angles, facet facts and other figures. Such fun here in DiamondLand! :kiss2:

I LOVE THIS!!!

Wow! I’m so glad you had a good outcome. What a story. Not to thread jack but what do you mean about it happening to women who are “flexible”?

Mine is a nickname work colleagues gave me decades ago. Seems fitting.

I want to know the story behind the nickname though!

Edit - I see it was asked and answered:)

I love that episode. I wish the younger people generation watched Seinfeld!

They are missing out, Seinfeld was like groundbreaking for sitcoms, the show about nothing. So brilliant.

They think the dissections are related to connective tissue laxity. So a lot of women who experience this have Ehlers Danlos or fibromuscular dysplasia. An informal poll on FB showed that an overwhelming majority of us were hyperflexible in our younger years.

Of course, there were some who had never been flexible, but medicine is about looking for generalities and correlations despite everyone's unique story.

While I was in the ER, I had the distinct thought that I wasn't ready to leave, even though I'd been plagued with depression and suicidal ideations for most of my life. So, a diamond made of the same carbons atoms which make up coal seemed like a befitting symbol of my current "bonus life."

I have a granddaughter ( had 2 sons ) and I am so excited to play in my jewelry box with her! We already had a necklace made for her with a small diamond from my husband‘s grandmother‘s engagement ring. She’s only 15 months old but she seemed to really like it!

Hahahaha at first I was imagining a 5-6 year old little girl. 15 months is a good age to start. Like those star athletes who begin ice skating before they can walk. She’ll be a jewelry champion.

Well she has 2 Div. 1 athletes for parents so she could be a champion in many things!! I’m hoping she’s tall like me and swims or plays basketball.

Me too.

Dancing Fire is also a beautiful user name, so interesting that he chose such an artsy and poetic name.

DF is my dad. It’s been so interesting to see his threads of posts here on Pricescope. I read through them 3 years ago and come back randomly to see if some people reply to his old posts! It’s like I’m reading his journal in a way after his passing.. so many of you guys have so much love for him. Lol and some people couldn’t stand him! I definitely miss him and wish he were still with all of us.

Welcome to PS!!!!
Your dad is greatly missed.
His love for his family showed strongly in many of his posts.
He touched the lives of hundreds(thousands?) of people who never met him in person but knew him through his posts.

First of all, I'm so sorry for your loss. He was such a spark here on PS. I am really touched that you came here to comment. He is sorely missed and I can tell that you know that, which I hope gives you some comfort. Please keep coming back.

Aw, thank you, I love to hear that!! ❤️. I can really see it in his posts how he touched so many! I was really surprised to see how much he told you all about my mom, my sister, and his grandkids. He even posted about the story of when I went into labor with my daughter while I was at work!

His love and knowledge for watches and diamonds really shined and so many of you guys asked him for his expertise! I love how my fiancée (and I’m sure he loved it just as much as I did) asked my dad to help search for the perfect diamond for my engagement ring.. which of course he posted about on here too lol. It really holds so much sentimental significance to me that he took part of it. I keep it clean just for him because I know he doesn’t like a filthy diamond!! Speaking of— I cleaned it today and it’s shining as beautiful as ever. ❤️

He was very political on here too.. but I loved that he held his ground in his thoughts and views and stood firm with them. There was no swaying him in the other direction lol.

I could hear him in his posts laughing and joking about the things he would discuss on here with you guys.

Thank you all for sharing these posts with me. I’ve been sneakily coming on here and decided today to make an account. It’s crazy that it’s been almost 3 years since he’s passed. I miss him dearly.. ❤️

Hiya kid! ((hugs))
Your dad and I had our occasional dustups, but I respected him for it. He was a funny man and always up for scrap. I miss the b*stard, I surely do. He meant a lot to us.
He loved you so much, I hope you can see what was obvious to everyone who knew him here. He loved his family. You were the joy of his life. He was so proud of you.
You hung the moon.

Im glad you decided to post!
DF talked about his family a lot over the many years we talked on here.
This was a long time ago.
One that cracked me up was he jokingly complained about having to pay a daughters credit card bill instead of buying something.
Someone dared to say: why not make her pay it herself?
Then he acted all insulted that someone would think he would do that.
It turned into a bit of a spirited debate among a few people.
I could just picture him sitting back chuckling about causing it.
Makes me smile thinking about it.

Oh my gosh @ticklemypickles1, Welcome to Pricescope. I’m so sorry for your loss.

Your dad had many friends here. We loved hearing about your family and seeing pictures of your beautiful children. You could feel how much your dad loved your mom, you girls and your children in his posts. I loved your dad’s post about buying your mom’s Chanel bag and both you and your sister’s bag. If I’m remembering correctly he said he was broke afterward. So many of his posts made us laugh.

I was one of the people your dad would argue about politics with. Your dad and my dad viewed things politically exactly the same way. They both laughed at me often. @Karl_K probably did too. One of the great things about this site was even when we argued, if anyone was going thru anything tough we were all right there to support each other. I lost my dad a month after you lost yours.

Tell you more about my user name?
Gosh, hmm  , I mean, what's to say?

Okay ...
Kenny has five letters which is one more than four.

k is 1st.
e is 2nd.
n is both 3rd and 4th.
y is 5th.

Also, it's particular fascinating that that five is one less than six, and 73 less than 88.
I'll leave it at that.

Additional support for your research paper ...
I shall hereby list the numerical position of each letter in the English alphabet.

k is 11th
e is 5th
n is 14th
n is still 14th
y is 25th

Glad to help.
Now buy me a beer.

@ticklemypickles1, welcome to PS! It is so exciting and heartwarming to see you posting here! I hope that you, your sister, your mother and the grandkids are doing well. Dancing Fire was so much here and we were all shocked and saddened by his passing. We did not know that he may have been ill. We do know that he loved his family so very much and that he did indeed have strong beliefs. He stood his ground, but yet never seemed offended by differing opinions.

You being here is like balm to the souls of us who have missed him. Thank you so much for touching base and we hope you continue to be a presence here. It stokes good memories of a time gone by and that is never a bad thing!!

@ticklemypickles1 I’m so very sorry for the loss of your dad, but having you here is like a whisper from DF, “I’m still here you guys,” I got a kick out of your dad. He added so much life to this place, yeah he liked to push some people's buttons but it was never mean or nasty.
The man knew what he liked in diamonds, I mean his screen name was ‘Dancing Fire’ after all! I upgraded my ACA last year and I was lucky enough to find one with exactly the same stats as his latest stone. I knew it would be a beautiful and fiery stone if it was like DF’s!
Thanks for stopping by, we’d love to get to know you better, you are so welcome here!
Now in keeping with this thread
ticklemypickles, tell us about your screen name :mrgreen2:
