Hi Ladies,

We need to start tackling our thank you cards, but I was hoping to have the pro-pics back so that we could do one of those cards with a picture of us on the front. She''s told me it''s 4-6 wks for the photos to be ready, but I''m worried that that means our thank you cards will go out too late?

Also, if we wanted to do the thank you cards with photos through someone else other than our photog (who charges $4 per card), does anyone have suggestions? We''d like something classic and of quality so may have to bite the bullet and go with photog.

Thanks..

Hey, Janine!

Did your photographer give you a disc with the photos on it? If so, you could just print them out yourselves and send pictures with the cards which might expodite the process.

Our edits took a few weeks to make, so we just got our disc this week, but I had already finished the thank you cards (my final DIY project, yay!). I put two or three different family photos in each card and sent them, which was a fairly quick process. I''d already sorted out which pictures I wanted for each thank you card, so when we got the disk, I knew how many of each to print and I had all of the photos in my hand the same day we got the disc.

I don''t think there''s anything wrong with waiting 4 - 6 weeks to send the thank you cards, I''m sure it''s more about you just wanting to get it off your plate. I''m a weirdo and had this fear of going to Thanksgiving dinner without my family having gotten their TY cards and everybody being upset with me, so I knew I wanted them to all have their cards by then, haha.

If I attended your wedding and got a crappy thank you card a week after the wedding, I would appreciate it. Likewise, if I attended your wedding and waited 4-6 weeks to receive an amazing, well-thought-out thank you card, I would appreciate it more and COMPLETELY understand the delay. I''d say wait and go for it. No one should be offended.

I don''t think that is too long to wait to send thank you''s either
(we are just getting ours out for 9/22)

Just an idea, if I was a guest, i''d almost enjoy a "loose" photo better than one on a card-
I was told by a few people who got the discs of their images that their photogs referred them to mpix
for quality prints- maybe you could get some wallets made, or 4x6 individual to each guest or something?

Then you could use a classic thank you card (that you can still use in the future)

I agree about loose photos. Maybe you could attach loose photos onto the card with double-sided tape or something so the photo could be removed from the thank you card for the person to keep.

I got a simple personalized thank you card from my cousin''s wedding soon after the wedding and two months later, they sent me a generic wedding announcement/thank you card with the photographer''s picture with me in it. They had mounted the picture in the card by tucking two opposite corners of the photo in a slit in the card.

If postage, picture and stationary cost are not prohibitive, this might be a good option.

could you ask your photographer for ONE good retouched picture, so that you can do up thank you cards sooner? (assuming you have the rights to the pictures, that is) Even if you don''t have the rights and were going to print them through the photograher, you could still see if they could do up those early, and you could wait for the other pics. just a suggestion
