I got in contact with the student photographer you recommended (we''ll call him J

) and he is so lovely! I also put up an ad on gumtree (like you said) and I have gotten a few emails from amateur photographers, (BR and D) too!

Right now, i am thinking of going with J, because my FI likes his style, and we really do think he''s a natural at taking shots!

BR, who has been emailing me over the weekend is very persistent and he wants to meet me for a trial session. I dunno, something about him seems suss. Did he contact you too? BR is his real initial btw.

I guess i just want to say thanks for helping me out, and teaching me how to save some money.

P.S: I went to e-bridal, and looked at Evermore Photography... and as nice as their pics were, i am NOT paying $2000 for 1x8R photo album and 60 high res pics!!!!

I actually felt a bit of pressure since the photographer is a friend of my friend, and he actually went to the same school as me...FI saved me a lot of stress by being firm and saying "NO" pretty much straightaway

Hi Cindy!!

No worries, i''m glad that i could help you out! And it''s great to hear what you think of J, FI and i like him too, i like his photos and style as you say, it''s good to ''hear'' that someone else thinks that he has a talent for it too.

Did you read his resume? He listed "Top score in Facebook pacman 2007" as one of his achievements. lol, i love a guy with a sense of humor. I am glad that i have booked him in, one less thing to worry about!

Yeah I had a few ''others'' reply that i didn''t get good vibes from at all, i think people who insist to meet you are a bit creepy.

It''s hard when people reccommend friends and then you don''t end up liking/wanting their services... i had to tell the FMIL that i had already ordered a dress (i wasn''t telling anyone i had picked a dress) because she kept saying that she wanted me to meet her dress maker friend who made her daughters dress. I had some people reccommend some ''cheap'' photographers that just weren''t that cheap at all.

Maybe we can help each other out a few more times over the comming months, i am going to have a look at Colins Crafts for my DIY invites soon (i have heard they are the most cost effective) ... have you found any cheap florists yet?

LOL I know!!! When i saw that pacman achievement, my FI and I both giggled heheh

Also, he''s so SMART! He was allowed to do ANY university course he wanted at UWA!!!

I think that even his casual photos are quite nicely taken.

Ummm Haven''t thought about Invites yet, but i would love to DIY my invites, placecards, etc just for fun!

I went to meet the owner of Bloom Couture Flowers yesterday and she is so nice and friendly!! Her house actually smelt like flowers!! I told her that and she just laughed

I''m also in the process of looking at make-up artists. I spoke to Gail Wilton on the phone, she seems a bit abrupt to me. Don''t know if i can work with her

This is the quote from L, the florist you recommended to me.

Her website: flower

Quote:
Bride''s bouquet - natural stem posy with Sonrisa, Upper Cloud & Alexis roses, with small amount of baby''s breath throughout, white satin ribbon with diamonte buckle at the top of stems in yellow satin ribbon (no greenery showing through) - $125
Throwaway bouquet - using same 3 roses as above $75 (small version)
Bridesmaid''s bouquets (x 4) - natural stem posies using Sonrisa roses with white satin ribbon, (no greenery showing through) - $75 each
Buttonholes (x 6) - Groom to have yellow rose with pink organza ribbon & single diamonte, 5 x Groomsmen to have single yellow rose - $11 each
Bridal Table at Reception - long white ceramic container with organza ribbon & buckle containing orchids and mix of roses from bouquets including tropical leaves - $55, 4 x small cube shape arrangements containing roses, tropical leaves to match above - $33 each (this includes the hire of the pots) - total $187
Rose petals scattered along bridal table between arrangements - $40 (some petals on the signing table at the ceremony would look nice as well and there would be enough petals to do this)
Frosted Tealights for the bridal table - suggest 6 either side of main arrangement, cost to hire $1 each - total $12
Guest Tables at Reception (x 6) - hire of 6 x sets of groups of 3 cylinder vases $12/set - total $72 containing natural coloured pebbles in base with yellow cymbidium orchids (5 flowers per table) with floating candle at the top $23 per table - total per table centrepiece $35
Hire of 2 x large cane pots each to have stick fairy lights, with tropical leaves, yellow golden wish orchids, pink oriental lilies - $185 total
Delivery of bouquets to bride''s home, delivery and set up of flowers, etc at reception - $55
Collection of hired items from reception the following day of the wedding - $25

The total for the above is $1280 and if you wish to go ahead with this quote a 25% deposit of $320 would be required with the balance due in full two weeks prior to your wedding day.

Please note - a set of 3 cylinder vases would be used on the signing table at the ceremony, then to be transferred to the reception. The same applies with the 2 x large cane pot arrangements.

Holy cow! flowers add up don''t they? I know that''s a little over your budget.. how did she compare to other florists? (i haven''t seen her yet, a drive up her way for me is like a day trip, trying to get to her in September) maybe there''s a few things you could cut back on in the quote to make it under the 1k mark? (maybe an alternative to flower petals on tables, my fsil used those tiny silver and red metal love hearts that you get from cost plus they looked cool) one thing is for sure.. you could definately use it in your defence not to have another bridesmaid... it costs more!

J is super super smart hey? We went to the same highschool (years apart) he was there on a scolarship and his marks.. that alone was enough for me to know he came from ''good stuff'' ha ha.

There are plenty more ladies on the list for makeup artists too... i am sure you will find one you like.
