The Dresden Dolls are AMAZING in concert - they play a crowd as well as they play their instruments. Also, same level of cool: Devotchka. They employed acrobats for their opening act at the last show which I attended, and their frontman refreshed himself with champagne from the bottle. Stage presence just ... doesn''t cover it.

The Frames gigs I went to ten years ago in uni were always amazing. The lead singer is the guy from Once.

Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band (always put on a great show)
The Who
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
U2
John Cougar (Mellencamp? Mellencamp Cougar? Whatever his name is now)
Bruce Springsteen
Dave Matthews Band
ani di franco
Rusted Root

I love Queens of the Stone Age! They played at one of our big festivals a few years ago with the Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chilli Peppers and it was amazing! They did a drummers expo the night before and I got one of Chad Smith''s drum cymbals! It was such a cool weekend.

Jane''s Addiction in Central Park (before they were big) I was ... 15? Some details are fuzzy since there was lots of pot going around.

Each of the seven Living Color shows I''ve seen.
Each of the 15 Metalica shows shows. Including a very, very early show at the Rat (people from Boston who know the old club scene would know the Rat in Kenmore.
The five Prince shows, one in Italy.
Nine Inch Nails.
All the metal and punk shows of the eighties/early nineties- Motley Crew, Judas Priest, Poision, Slayer, Misfits, Iron Maiden, Sepultura... llist goes on. They were so fun with the whole danger aspect. Once a mosh pit got going, I would always think ''I''m going to get crushed'' since I''m so short. Hey, I was a teenager!

I''m gong to see Maiden again next month!!!

Oh, my poor boyfriend would be so jealous if he read this. Queens, Foo Fighters, AND Chilli Peppers?!?!?!?!?!

I can only imagine what a great time that would be.

I think my favorite would be either 311 or Mutemath. I love Mutemath''s live shows. They are juuuust starting to get known so they are still performing in smaller venues, which I think is the best way to see them. Then of course Aerosmith would be another favorate. I LOVE Steven Tyler!

I''m a big time gig''er and travel around to see bands and I have literally seen 1000''s. My fave ones, names you probably recognise (no point telling you the more obscure groups) are:

Rammstein
Depeche Mode
Muse
U2
INXS (when Michael Hutchence was alive

)
Beastie Boys
Rage Against the Machine
The Cure

Can''t think of any others at mo, will update list when my brain is in gear.

Am I a nerd for saying

Dolly Parton?

I just love her and she is really SO entertaining live!

I saw George Michael in concert when I was a pre-teeny bopper back in, oh, I think it was 85 or 86.

I must say, fantastic concert.

Paul McCartney back in 90 or so.

The Police back this summer...not a lot of flash, but a lot of fun.

Seems I need to shake up my iPod a bit.

i must be old.... only know a few on these list

I''ve seen:
Sonic Youth x 2
Ween
No Doubt x 2
Garth Brooks
Reba
Faith Hill
The Judds
George Straight

That''s all I can think of. Don''t get to see too many shows anymore, but hopefully that will change.

I''ve seen
Boys II Men
Backstreet Boys
Nsync
Hanson
Sister Hazel (both when they were a duo and thereon till now lol)
Bon Jovi
Aerosmith
Matchbox 20
Kiss when they performed with Aerosmith
Chris Cagle
The guy who did drinkin me lonely (can''t remember his name)
Rascall Flatts

Out of them my favs were : Sister Hazel always always always lol, Rascall Flatts, Bon Jovi and Aerosmith. Chris Cagle as well... Fantastic

Barbara Streisand
James Taylor
Nsync- even though they were dorky, they were very entertaining
Eli Young Band
Pat Green

If you''re a country fan...
Brad Paisley is amazing in concert!

Okay I dont want to hear any laughing...I am a fan of Rock but the best concerts ive been to was Reba Macentire...she put on a memorable show on the forth of july and sang long after the show should have ended and gave a twelve year young man a hug and kiss for his birthday.

Stevie Wonder--he was AMAZING.

Architecture in Helsinki was a really fun show. I also saw a concert that had The Shins, The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Keane, and Modest Mouse and that was pretty awesome. Another favorite was Amon Tobin, Cut Chemist, and DJ Shadow. If only Kid Koala had been there too!

Garth Brooks
U2

So, I''ve seen loads of 80s bands in the last couple of years. I''m going to be seeing The Cure next month, and George Michael the following month, and I''m so excited!

So far, I''ve seen and loved;

Prince
The Police
Phil Collins (probably the best show ever)
Van Halen

I''m hoping to get to see Journey with their new lead singer soon, as well.

But, my favourite bands ever are pretty unpopular, or broken up now;

The Aquabats
Save Ferris (no longer together)
Reel Big Fish

MEL I AM SO JEALOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tori Amos at the Lyric Opera House in Baltimore. I''ve seen her more than 20 times, but the Lyric was my first and the BEST, followed closely by her show at the Auditorium Theater in Chicago (the weekend DH proposed!).

They Might be Giants
The Cure
James Taylor
DMB

Ben Folds annoyed me on the radio, but in concert he entertains so well. Used to be a piano teacher and had the audience sigining along in rounds.

Ricky Martin wasn''t bad either...not usually my taste, but I went with my Grandmother because she loved him in his day!

Wish I could have seen Elvis or Johnny Cash in their younger days...

Justin Timberlake is AMAZING in concert-he is truly a performer...

Michael Buble is my first favorite though-last time I saw him with my mom we were on the floor-he always comes into the audience and I SWEAR-next time I WILL touch him

I used to go to sooooo many shows. Most are more obscure bands, but I have seem more well-known bands, too. Let me think...

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs-such a great show! I have a major crush on Karen O.

Saves the Day-I saw them several times and they were always good live.

Alkaline Trio-I used to LOVE them and I''ve seen them tons of times, too. The best was when I got on stage at one of the shows and sang "Radio" by myself. (I fought everyone else off and got the mic to myself!)

Weezer-not the best performers but I still LOVED seeing them.

Bruce Springsteen-I saw him recently and he was so good live! Seriously a great performer. And super buff, too!

Fun question Dancing Fire! It''s neat to hear what everyone listens to!

I just saw Queens of the Stone Age about 3 weeks ago and it was a great show (but crappy sound at the venue) and saw Hawksley Workman before that - he was AMAZING to see and hear live - one of my all times faves for sure!

Other stand-out live performers that I could see over and over are: Ben Harper, Ween (thank you, pinkstars, for reminding me of those crazy boys!), Sting, Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Lenny Kravitz and George Clinton w/P-Funk and Chris Isaak. I would love to see Jason Mraz live some day but the DH no likie the M-raz as he calls him, so I may have to go solo to that one. I am so homesick for SF and all the wonderful live acts that float through the Bay Area over the summer. The Greatful Dead were also incredible in concert - esp. outdoors.

Chicago/Earth Wind & Fire. At the end everyone played together. OMG it was so good.

I''ve always wanted to see TMBG in concert!

Also, I forgot about Ben Folds--he was really great in concert.

And LaurenthePartier, I so want to see Journey. I don''t think I could get SO to go with me, though...he thinks my love of all things Journey is kind of weird. He''d love The Cure, though--he says their song "The Perfect Girl" has always made him think of me. Granted, with the lyrics ("Such a strange girl, I think you come from another world..."), I don''t know if that''s a compliment!

The best, was Billy Joel. I saw him three times, and the second was almost as good as the first. Last one was good, but being in a huge arena, in the next to last row, kinda put a damper on it. Too many others to list.

Lauren -- I also LOVE the 80''s groups!!
Saw the Police last summer and plan on seeing George Michael in July, REO/Def Leppard and Styx too...

One of my all-time best concerts was seeing INXS with Michael Hutchence the summer before he died -- I''m so glad I was able to see him perform -- it was AMAZING.. he was "cat-like" jumping on everything and running through the crowd...

I think one of the best shows I have been to was Madonna....I saw her in the early 90''s. I was only 11 and my Dad took me knowing nothing about her. He said he almost had a heart attack during the show. He started screening her music videos after that and I really didn''t get to see that many.

I also enjoyed Billy Joel/Eltin John, aerosmith

TOOL. Albuquerque 2007. Intricate lasers, insane twisted videos, crazy light show with smoke, and then the music on top of that. Its amazing what they can can do with a few videos, lasers and lights.

It totally beats out TOOL May 2006 Las Vegas, and TOOL Las Vegas September 2006. Can you tell FF is a TOOL fan? We went to Vegas twice in a year just to see Tool.
