Oh, ilander, I love that ring!
The color is truly delicious, and the setting is great!
Actually, I have a Barry Green Tourmaline set like that, I love the simplicity!
Your stone is the star!
A color like that needs no embellishment!

And the guy ~ how special is that DH of yours? :))
Hi ooo-Shiney! I like the way that a single colored stone can be so iconic, and I would love  to see yours! He is very special, and I am very lucky to have found him. I had to beat some other ladies off with a stick when we first met!

Hi LG! Yup, he's a great guy! I think I'll stop passing on the comments from this thread though, before he starts looking too smug. :D

Awwww, thanks, Treenbean! Hugs!

BTW- is it just me, or do you also wish Steve would just FIND that stinkin' ring already? :D

I mean seriously . . .

Beautiful stone, and a solitaire is perfect for it. Love the story, and your husband is soo sweet.

Lovely, and I agree, the story is sweet.

it seems that we still dont have profile shots of this ring, only from above. Also who made the setting, was it stock or custom?

That bubblegum ring is double fine!

iLander, I don't know how I missed this thread! I love your bubblegum ring and the fantastic story behind it. Your husband sounds so sweet. :))

The color of that stone is just amazing

Boy, try being lazy around Vapid! I am so far behind on all my PS posting . . .

Here is the setting, a standard from Tripps, they call it the deep V solitaire. Here is the web address: http://www.pickyourjewelry.com/index.php?p=product&id=37821&parent=0

DH set it was pretty tricky to set, because there was not a smidge of room for error. The description says it's for well-proportioned stones, and Barry's cut didn't let us down. Tripps has a youtube video on how to set stones, if anyone is as crazy as we are. :twirl: I wouldn't try it on an expensive or fragile stone, though. I did manage to set a fire opal in one of their settings (before I knew better  )

Wish my fingernails were cleaner, ignore that, please. . . .

:wavey: :wavey: THANK YOU guys for all the kind words, :wavey: I wear it almost everyday, it just cheers me up!

Aw, cmon, that wasnt so hard.
Last night I was searching googl images for ring and Lichtenstein (Roy) trying to find pics of a stylized ideal solitaire ring in a cartoon trope
Then I was searching all your threads about the ring trying to find the specs. So how big is it and whats the weight?. The profile pic is great. The height of the stone with the thinness of the band are NECESSARY to understanding the idea and the effect.

It does have a Lichenstein flavor to it, VL!

It's an 8mm round stone, and I can't remember the weight. Barry has 7.8 mm spess that is is 2.57 carats, so I guess it's pretty close to that. The band is 2 mm.

The proportions really do make it look like a cheap toy ring. It makes me think of Dolly Parton, because as she says (I love her self-deprecation) "it takes a lot of money to look this cheap!"

I am actually thinking of doing more of them, in lots of different colors. :appl:

A bubblegum collection! I support that. Any thoughts on the next color?

I like it a lot!

Such a nice stone/ring. I see it's nice and red in incadescent but still holds a good red in sunlight/overcast sun.
