6 days until I get my ring!!! I'm really nervous, why is that? I guess because I've never even seen the setting in person, and I'm really hoping it lives up to the pictures and descriptions I've seen.

We ordered it in mid-March, and it was ready last week, but my FI was away for work this week. He asked them to hold onto it until he gets back (today!) so that it wouldn't be sitting in the apartment for me to obsess over.

He asked me to choose a nice restaurant for a "special occasion" next Friday. Gee, I wonder what the occasion could be? I already got one sweet proposal, I think it's cute he wants to do something sort of special for the actual giving of the ring. I didn't really expect him to, but he's more romantic than I am.

I told him I'd either like to go the Chart House in Redondo Beach, or have a picnic somewhere beautiful.

Even though I've been doing a ton of planning already, I think being engaged won't feel completely real to me until I have the ring. It's kind of scary!

I don''t know how you can wait!!! Once we picked out the ring he offered to wait and do it right, but I told him that he had to just get down on one knee when we get home. Even the 5 minute car ride home was too much to bear, I had to get it on my finger and get to school the next day to show everyone!!

Congrats!! Can''t wait to see a pic of it on your finger!!

HI:

Good luck--and look forward to hand shots!!

cheers--Sharon

Waiting is the hardest part! But just enjoy the moment and try to take everything in. Try your hardest in the meantime, to keep yourself busy! VERY busy so the time goes by faster!

Three days and counting, Selkie! How are you doing?

AAAAHHHH!! Three days!

Actually, I''m OK. We had a very nice, relaxed holiday weekend, working on the boat. I am having trouble concentrating at work today, though

. But that''s really nothing new.

How was your trip, CG? Have you caught up on all the PS you missed?

Can''t wait to see pictures! Hang in there and enjoy the anticipation!

My EVIL boy just called me up and told me he's got the ring in his hot little hands. He said he's really happy with how it turned out, very classy and pretty. But I still can't have it until tomorrow night

!

Oh, and we're going to the Breakwater Restaurant at the Portofino Hotel in Redondo. Anyone been there? Of course, I'll probably be too nervous to eat!

I''ve eaten at Breakwater! In fact, the Portofino Hotel is where we spent our wedding night!

I''m so excited for you!! Can''t wait to see the pictures!!

Well, he couldn''t wait! We were sitting on the couch having pizza and beer last night, I put my head on his shoulder, and he said "Would you like your ring now?"

I asked if he was sure, he said "Well, now you can wear it to dinner tomorrow. It''ll still be a celebration."

He went and got it. I didn''t think to get any pictures of the wrapping, it was really nice, with a bow and a gold seal. I opened the box, looked at it and said "Oh my god, it''s beautiful!" and got all teary-eyed, which I totally didn''t think would happen. I handed the box to him so he could put it on my finger.

I am completely in love with it, it''s even better than I thought it would be. And it fits PERFECTLY, no slipping around at all.

I really need a new camera, mine is SOOO old and low res. But here''s a teaser, and there will be more details and pics later in Colored stones:

WOO HOO!! So glad to hear the news. Too cute that he couldn''t wait.

OK, one more, a little closer.

Beautiful!!!!

It''s the inverse of mine, with a diamond in the middle and two sapphires on the sides!

Have a great celebration tonight! Do you know where the sea lion colony is, out in the water between the shore and the jetty? I love those creatures.

That''s funny, I was thinking the same thing about our rings this morning! The sea lions are pretty cool, aren''t they? I''m looking forward to dinner, especially now that I won''t be all anxious!

OH MY I LOVE IT !!!!! YOU DID GOOD :)

Selkie-

GREAT CHOICE! It''s beautiful, and I love the way the prongs look as if they''re just a small cluster of three dots each; very nice touch! Congrats!

Wow, it looks great. It looks like neither of you could wait!! Have fun gazing at it all day!!

Gorgeous! Hope you have a wonderful dinner tonight. We''d love to see more pics when you get a chance. That shank looks intriguing - carved?

Thanks, everyone!! I cannot stop staring at it.
Woobug and SDL, I''m flattered, because you two have some seriously gorgeous sapphires yourselves. I had my friend take pics with her fancy new camera, but can''t get them until tomorrow. I have some others from my lousy old camera, and am going to start a new thread with more details in Colored stones or SMTR. The setting is platinum, die struck (rather than cast), engraved, and milgrained. I saw that engraved shank, and knew it was the one. It''s manufactured by Jabel, and Cross Jewelers in Portland, Maine set, engraved and finished it. It''s a WWII era setting that was intended to stand up to a fair amount of abuse. The triple prongs look so delicate from the top, but looking at the side view, you can see just how sturdy and protective they are.
