The Forum Engagement Ring Folder/Eye Candy

Since I'm getting married on an island, I wanted my wedding band to be simple and easily replaceable in case something happened while we were abroad. My initial thought was a plain, platinum band, but then I came across these eternity bands from IDJ and I figured they would be a more fun and versatile option.

I'm loving how delicate, yet sparkly they are and I was pleased to find that they sit perfectly with my Leon solitaire (they don't rub on the prongs since they're super low). I'm pretty happy with them overall - I just can't look at them too closely since they are not perfectly made.

I'm so excited to finally have them that they're staying on my finger until the wedding.

I had my eye on a ritani ring and hinted a little to my (now husband/boyfriend at the time). So we have a friend who is a jeweler and he took some ideas to her and they designed the ring together! I love it. They even set a pink diamond on the inside of the band. I am married now and paired it with a diamond band.

Here are links to her blog with details of the ring.

I've been lurking on Pricescope for quite a while and recently joined the Ladies in Waiting thread. I've been dating my BF (now fiance!) for 9 years...yes, 9 years. We've kind of spoken about rings before but nothing ever came of it. I kept telling myself that I was fine just the way they were but once we started seriously talking about rings and about what I liked, I discovered that I was very excited about it of course! I took it upon myself to start looking at rings and immediately I found one that I LOVED! Unfortunately, he didn't love the store because if you bought the setting from them, you had to use one of their diamonds and that didn't go over well with him. So I gave up hope. We looked at hundreds of settings and everything paled in comparison to the one I loved. So he had it custom made!!! He also added a few of his own changes and I think those made it even better! I knew he was looking but didn't expect the ring nearly this soon!

This is my vintage circa 1940s platinum engagement ring. I had always wanted a diamond and amethyst (my birthstone) engagement ring and this one blew me away! It features a VVS 4.5 carat round faceted mixed cut purple amethyst (which is absolutely the most stunning amethyst I've ever seen in my life - and this is from a girl who loves amethyst jewelry) and .33 carats of F to I VVSI to SI2 accent diamonds.

I could take a picture of it on my finger and add the file if anyone is interested. :)

Hi All,
Here is yet another recycling project of mine! I had been given this 3 stone diamond ring by my grandmother. It wasn't quite my taste or style so I went about redoing it. She's fine with my choice to remodel. Anyway, I had my trusty B&M jeweler make this lovely pendant for me. It features 2 OEC diamonds (my favorite!!!) the one on the top is a .16 carat I / SI1 and the one on the bottom is a .38 carat I / SI2, both perfectly eye-clean. My entire jewelry collection is platinum and white gold so I decided to branch out and try 14kt rose gold. I really love it! It's very fun for a change. The pendant features the same filagree work on the sides of the piece as the bail but my attempts to get a good photo of it have been unsuccessful thus far.

What did I do with the 3rd diamond in the ring? Ah, well, it was a .16 modern RB so I used it to upgrade the diamond in my silver anklet and used the .10 carat that had been in my anklet to have my jeweler make a "loupe charm" for me. Now I'll be able to pick my loupe out of a crowd, right?!

I have been wanting a 5-stone ring for my right hand and thought to get it next year for my 35th wedding anniversary. After I had been through two eye surgeries in the past year my husband decided to surprise me with one for our 34th anniversary last month. He bought from Blue Nile because of their easy return policy and the ring is just stunning in real life. It has 2.07 carats of their Signature Ideal diamonds set in platinum. The stones are E and F color and VVS2 clarity. The setting is solid and well made. The diamonds are every bit as sparkly and beautiful as my Hearts on Fire and Whiteflash ACA stones.

I started casually looking for inspiration this winter, then joined pricescope and turned it up a notch in February. This weekend, my longtime girlfriend became my fiancee and we're both very happy with the ring (and the fact that we're engaged, obviously ). The deets: .97 F SI2 AVC in a Mark Morrell 4-prong petite torchiere with slightly narrowed shank. I stretched my budget a little, but we both love the final product.

I'm engaged! Here are pics of my beautiful BGD H&A 1.261c J SI2 (eyeclean) in a legacy-style setting. Size 6 7/8.
There are supposed to be rubies under the "V" on either side of the ring, but someone didn't read the instructions and set a surprise ruby inside the band instead. I'm taking it back next week to have the rubies set where they're supposed to.
Only one handshot for now. I haven't even had time to take my own pictures of the ring...here are some glamor shots to tide you over.

When my parents got engaged my father asked my mother if she wanted a ring or a pair of ice skates and she thought (being the practical woman she was) she would get more use out of the ice skates then a ring. Imagine! They got married with plain yellow gold bands and my mother never missed not having an engagement ring. As she neared her 40th birthday (I was 13 at the time), my mother started thinking she'd like a nice right hand ring (she had no other jewellery other than her wedding band) and went to the jewellery store and feel in love with this sapphire and diamond ring. She never thought that my father would get it for her because it was an expensive purchase for them but she did tell me about the ring and I then told my father and he went out and got it for her and surprised her with it on her 40th Birthday. I'll never forget the look on her face and the pride my father took in presenting it to her. My mother still wears this ring on a regular basis and it's still the only ring (other than wb) she has. It still looks beautiful on her as she has nice, long, lean fingers. This ring, I believe, is what started my love affair with diamonds. Growing up, I would watch it sparkle in all lighting imaginable and it mesmerizes me still today. She asked my to clean her ring today and I decided to take a few pictures to show my PS friends this timeless classic.

Diamond (single cut) and sapphire ring
size 5 (I can only fit it on my pinky - I'm a size 6-6.5)
Yellow gold band
Bought in 1983

Thanks for letting me share.

Just got this in the mail from Erica, and I haven't had a chance yet to take my own pictures, but it came out great so I wanted to share Erica's fantastic photos:

http://jewelsbyericagrace.smugmug.com/JbEG-Signature-Settings-and/3StoneSettings/Name-TBD-Featuring-a-Sapphire/17706415_8TKV94#1354442537_GxGJQ4j

The first 4 shots are CAD drawings that we worked on, the 5th is a video that the jeweler took in his showroom, and the rest are Erica's shots. It's kind of amazing to me how much it looks exactly like the CADs!

I spent over a year on this ring project (almost started calling it "my precious"), and ached over many different details from the cut of the sapphire to the petals on the side of the setting. You can read all about it (in 16 pages) here:

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/got-a-great-jw-sapphire-lets-find-the-perfect-setting.151890/

As for me, I'm (hopefully) getting engaged this Saturday, and will post my own photos with hand shots after that! A big thank to you to everyone in the PS community who helped me with ideas and advice for my ring. My future fiance and I will be forever grateful.

P.S. - I'm posting this in the "show me the bling" forum because this is an e-ring, even though it's not a diamond. If this thread belongs in the CS forum instead, please accept my apologies and maybe a helpful admin can move it there for me.

I have finally chosen and received my 10k gift and it's faaaabuuulous! (Insert music emoties here!) After much searching and thinking, I decided to go with my gut and chose some lovely things I'd been eyeing for awhile from Bill Pearlman's website. I have loved Gurhan ever since being turned onto the designer here by AGBF, and I knew I wanted something for my right hand. I chose 3 yg stackers, and 3 sterling silver stackers with colored stones bezeled with yg as well.

Here is the result...please forgive my kinda yucky phone camera pics: Thanks for looking! And a huge thanks to both Pricescope for the generous gift, and to Bill Pearlman for all of his help and service throughout. He was an absolute GEM from day one, to day umpteen when my package finally arrived! (I needed sizes that he didn't have in stock so he had to bring them in from Gurhan.) What a wonderful person to deal with...he will be getting my business for sure in the future!

It tooks us months to pick out, make, and receive the ring but it was all worth the effort. After the long strenuous process, we went with Mark and Chris at Engagement Rings Direct.

Please refer to the previous post for details on picking the ring.
https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/the-battle-royale-please-provide-inputs.160809/
We picked ERD because we felt very confident that the ring Mark picked out was going to be monumental. It actually turned out better than we expected. Even though Mark uses CAD, the intricacies of his work is still nonethless magnificant and in my opinion, definitely comparable to the "hand forged" rings that the other jewelers specialize.
Pictures speak louder than words, see for yourself!

hello everybody. i am new to the forum but i have lurked here for a while i have been married for almost four years now and this is my upgrade. i have had this ring for two years now(loooong story). hope you guys like it

story:
i have actively looked for something like this for two years. i was very specific about wanting a 8 to 9 carat range certified OEC in the near colorless range. i have been told by several dealers that it is extremely difficult if not impossible to find something like that. they showed me several large stones in K-L range but i stuck to what i wanted. ^ months later my DH(then FI) decided that we might not find my dream ring-ever so we went ahead and got married with a temp ring.

so a year and a half into our marriage, we finally found one!!!! it sparkles like crazy and throws bold white flashes all over!! (hope i dint ramble)

note: i have nothing against warmer colors. i own a j colored stone myself. its just that in an OEC i wanted a near colorless stone.

Specs:
8.52 carat OEC H color
vs1 clarity
cut-good
symmetery - good
polish - good(if i remember right)

I've been searching ebay and other online jewelry sites since March/April of this year for a new temp setting for my Infinity to replace my too-large half-bezel setting. I looked at a lot of settings -- it is surprisingly hard to find a decent used setting for a reasonable price. The vintage platinum settings go for $$$$ and often need repair. And I can't believe what ebay sellers are asking for 1980s yellow gold settings -- too expensive to buy to use for "parts" and too dated to use as-is

I was about ready to give up on a temp setting and start work on my custom setting much earlier than I'd planned, when I spied this ring on ebay for a Stuart Cathey ring.

I'd seen this listing before, but I always skipped over it, because I thought it was some kind of vintage 1960s ring

hi everyone!! i usually don't post in the show me the bling, but i couldn't resist...

first...thank you brian gavin and lesley...it was a pleasure again.
i upgraded my 1.50 J pendant to a 2.00 J. i am super excited to see it and i'm hoping that the .50 ct jump will be more than noticeable.

and for those who "know" me from F&H threads...i recently gave birth to a baby girl after having 2 boys. so DH decided we should get her some diamond earrings for later on. and with diamond prices always on the rise, i said let's get it now. haha!!
so at the same time i did my upgrade, we purchased earrings for her.

both are 1.03 I SI1.
here are the pics that they sent me. i will be picking these up tomorrow.

Hi all, I posted about ordering a palladium band from a place called Gold & Gems and how happy I was with their customer service. I wanted a simple band to wear when I don't want to wear my diamond wedding band and ering (to the gym, the pool, the beach, anywhere I'm worried about gunking up the eternity band setting and my ering setting). I ordered an ArtCarved palladium band in a size 5, Gold & Gems had it in stock, they engraved it for me that very day (my wedding date on the inside of the band), and sent it to me 2nd day air. I received it this morning and I love it. It's perfect for what I'll wear it for, and even matches nicely with my platinum ering. I took a couple of quick iPhone photos - pardon the dry hands - I just got back from a run and I'm probably dehydrated from the heat!

Just wanted to recommend Gold & Gems to anyone looking for something like this. It's always so nice to receive excellent customer service, even if you're not spending a lot of money!

Just picked this up from FedEx! Cannot wait to propose. Let me know what you think!

Sorry for the poor quality on the some of the shots. Literally just snapped the pics on my phone.

Edit: Let me also thank all of you on PS for your valued input, insight, comments, and information! This seemed such a daunting task months ago and now that it is almost complete I find it comforting that a community of individuals exists to help those like myself along in the process.

I first want to say that I have frequented this forum for a few years, and in that time I have learned so much from you all. I I have been a jewelry "expert" (lover) since I was probably 12 years old - but coming here has really been what has helped to shape my taste. What an incredible resource Pricescope has been!

Now for a quick cell phone picture of my set.

My engagement ring is a WW2-era piece in 14k gold. It holds a .56ct OEC; H/VVS1. I.Love.This.Ring. My husband bought it for me two years ago when my original solitaire was damaged by our local jeweler during a repair. (Seriously. A prong adjustment turned into 1/4 of the diamond getting chipped off!) Luckily, they covered all costs and were totally upfront about it.

My anniversary band is a 1920's/Art Deco piece in 18k gold. The sapphires are a rich, royal blue color that I am absolutely crazy over.

The little stacker on the end is actually a cheapie from Overstock.com. Silver and CZ, until I can get the real thing someday.

All are a size 5.

I've looked at this forum many, many times in my search for the ideal engagement ring. I've finally picked the right one for my right girl (ask me how it goes in August)! Given the fact that the Bvlgari Corona is very, very difficult to photograph and the fact that I want to give back to the forum, I've taken a few macro shots that at the very least show off the lovely contours of the ring. Thanks all!

Well, my one true love finally proposed last night!!! He texted me while I was at work and asked me if I wanted to go to dinner that night and of course I can't turn down a free meal bhahaha! So he took me to downtown Houston, TX to a resturaunt called Spindletop. It's atop one of the sky scraper buildings and it slowly rotates so you can see the entire city. It was gorgeous up there!!! We gorged on food and had to sit and chat for awhile to let our food settle ahah! My fiance said he needed to use the restroom and got up. He was gone for a few minutes and came back saying he got lost and never found the restroom. I was like "Why didn't you just ask someone?" and thinking such a typical man doesn't want to ask for directions! HAHA! Then a waitress comes up and says, "Oh I see your camera is out would you like a picture?" So she's taking our picture...then I sit back down...and another waitress pops up behind me with a desert plate (we never ordered desert). She sets it down in front of me and it was a fancy cheese cake with some sort of chocolate sticks poking out. On the stick was my ring!!!! I was completely caught off guard!! Then my fiance walked over to my side of the table...got down on one knee...and asked me to marry him I'm so elated! I don't know what I ever did in life to be so blessed by God, but I'm sooooo thankful! I've had my fair share of hard times in life, but my fiance has made it all worth it. I never thought I'd meet such an amazing man who would treat me like I was his most prized possession (I think every woman deserves that!), but I did and I love him so much! I can't wait until I get to walk down the isle to him and our future together!!!!!!!!!!
