Hello Ladies,
We have just returned from our family holiday in France and while we were there I found a pretty ring in a teeny tiny little backstreet jewellers. Although I can get by reasonably well in french I have NO french jewellery vocab at all so there was a lot of smiling and pointing. As a result I know nothing about the ring - the diamonds look nice and white and its a nice holiday momento so I am probably better off in blissful ignorance!

I am FINALLY getting around to posting a couple pics of my engagement ring! I still don't have a camera that takes great pictures so I'm using my phone camera. Sorry, they aren't the greatest quality but I still wanted to share them anyway. I got engaged on May 25th and I just couldn't wait any longer! The stone is an antique Old Mine Cut and sparkles like crazy. Even when there's almost no light around it seems to find it from somewhere . The setting is a Scott Kay setting from Jared. The stone is set a little higher than I would have liked but I've actually gotten really used to it and kind of prefer it that way now. I think it shines so bright because it can catch light from any angle. I haven't had any problems with it catching anything either so I'll leave it as is.

stone stats: Good cut, H-J color, .72 ct, VS2 clarity

Several months ago I saw a very interesting design for a plain diamond band. However when I inquired about the answers about stone selections did not quite work for me. But the style of the band kept popping up in the back of my mind. Then about 2 months ago I saw the following suite of diamonds online and wondered, if I could have my propeller ring made out of those stones.

So I sent an email to the vendor and asked if it would be possible for them to make a band out of the stones and sent them this picture to illustrate what I was looking for. ( I was not 100% about the yellow diamonds, I don't tend to like yellow as a color.)

Amir wrote back promptly and sent me two different layout possibilities; I still preferred the one that looked like airplane propellers.

Bought this ring impulsively on eBay, and half w/ my heart... luckily it turned out good. Ari from Singlestone verified the stats for me, and said i did very well!! Price was pretty good. So i'm happy! Finally took some pics, but like all my other pics... they suck. Diamond is eye clean and almost loupe clean... all spots are probably my mangy fingerprints.

1.64 OEC
K, VS1

Its little friend is a garnet ring, also from ebay. I bought it for the setting, but it's so pretty i'm going to keep the whole thing as is!
Very heavy and solid setting, in 14k white gold. The bags on the sides are very clean too! Price was amazing as well.. $175.

I got married on July 24, 2011. I found my Dream Ring on September 1, 2011. It is a beautiful 1 carat Trillion solitaire with a high setting. I had already found and had purchased a beautiful Bridal set when I walked into my original jeweler and saw this beauty. Needless to say I returned that and got this!!! I am so happy, car, wedding, ring & now hopefully house - all in 1 year - GOD IS GOOD, ALL THE TIME!!

Maybe not ugly but definitively not my style. Some people must find it pretty but all I can think of is that someone attached golden dumbo ears to the poor diamonds . Except för the dumbo ears the setting is quite pretty, I love the side view.

The diamonds predate the setting very noticeably. The OEC's have a yummy high crown and tiny tables and comparing that to the modern stone in the middle, it looks like the diamonds are trying to escape the setting.

Anyhow, I bought the ring for the diamonds. They are I color, eye clean SI,nice cut and 0,70ctw. They are pretty OEC that are well matched. Finding well matched old cuts is so hard, that's why I am so happy about these.

Planning to save these pretty diamonds from that setting and create wonderful diamond studs with them. I was thinking of doing milgrained bezels, close to the handmade ones from BGD and WF. Does anyone have their bezels? Are the comfy and sit well in the ear? I am a bit worried that the backs would make the stones tilt when on.

The stone in the middle is supposed to be a natural green spinel, but I have never seen a green spinel like this one before. The fotos are horrible, I took them with nearly no light and I don't understand the camera . In reality the stone is a very dark green when no light hits it but otherwise it's a crazy green light show. It's a true green, no blue or yellow, kinda like forest green. Does anyone know if what I describe is possible as a spinel?

Hello

Just wanted to share my recent Upgrade!

Solitaire is 1.17 CTW I color SI1 AGS Ideal in a Platinum Tiffany style band from James Allen. Plain Platinum band is from Tiffany and Eternity is a .33 Martin Flyer from my local jeweler.

My original set was a .41 Pear and wrap band in YG and was not very good cut at all, but neither of us knew a thing about diamonds 17 years ago

I wanted to start off with a big thank you to Pricescope and all those who contribute to it. I learned so much from everyone! In return, here is my contribution!

In September 2010, with the help of Todd Neuhaus from Union Diamond, I found my beautiful diamond! Fi and I decided that we would put the bulk of the budget on the diamond, and picked this 3-stone setting as our temp. setting (back in September, I believe this setting was closer to $400 ... not anymore due to the price jumps!)

Here are the diamond specs:
GIA\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
Shape and Cutting Style: Cushion Modified Brilliant\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
Measurements: 6.65 x 6.62 x 4.09 mm
Carat wt: 1.51 ct
Color: Natural Fancy Yellow
Clarity: VVS2
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Good
Fluorescence: None

At that pre-Pricescope time, my "mind clean" goals were a square cushion, more than 1.5 ct (ooo... exceeded by 0.01ct!), and LxW greater than 6.5mm. The VVS2 was a bonus. And I wanted lemon yellow, not butter beige! This was pre-Pricescope, so I did not know about the existence of assets and other informative documentation that is available for diamonds. Luckily, my sales rep really listened and guided me through the process. UD also had a good return policy. Upon receipt of the ring, I brought it to an independent appraiser, Barry Block, who also turned out to be a Pricescope recommended independent appraiser, who verified that the diamond matched the GIA report and that I had gotten a good deal!

I felt special because after we got this ring, I saw that Union Diamond had put the picture up on their FB and website - call me corny!

While I was diamond searching with Todd, I started googling reviews of UD, and found Pricescope! Through Pricescope, I got infected with DSS, and learned that sometimes halos can cure DSS! (smiley + halo!)

As I was flipping through the halo topics, I came upon this halo: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-co-workers-new-bgd-halo.134273/......... It was my dream setting! . All that milgraining, especially the double in the center made me go gaga! I saved it and e-mailed the thread to my fiance, he liked it too. I was also excited about the prospect of working with BGD, too. This was early 2011. THEN the crazy price hikes... A custom setting with BGD would be way out of what I deemed a reasonable budget, and I was very disappointed

Although I had planned on resetting my cushion at a much later date (a couple of years down the road), the rapidly rising prices really forced my hand. Through Pricescope I learned that halos that looked like this BGD halo were Tiffany-Legacy-inspired halos, and that many other Pricescope vendors could create a similar halo. Ultimately, I went with ERD because I wanted someone in NY (where we live), and since this was going to be my "forever setting", I anticipated the ring needing some maintenance through the years, so I wanted to keep the vendor local. Also, ERD had a very competitive price for what I wanted executed, and since their specialty was cushions, who better to leave my "precious" with? Also, I wanted the setting to be made to conform to MY diamond, and ERD, as cushion experts, understand that cushions come in different shapes - i.e., some are more curvy, more angular, etc., so they intended on creating the CADs around my diamond.

Setting design - I knew I wanted a legacy inspired setting. I wanted the band to be half eternity because I didn't want to "feel" the diamonds in between my fingers, if that makes sense, and since I'm clumsy, I could foresee myself knocking melee out of the bottom of the band all the time. Adding to the clumsy factor, I wanted a yellow gold bezel around my diamond to protect it. I also wanted milgrain around the bezel in the center. I initially wanted a white gold setting, but the prices jumped up so much that the difference between white gold and platinum was negligible, so, with the help of my fellow Pricescopers, (see the thread below), I decided on a PT950/Ru blend.

[for those using a search engine: Brian Gavin Diamonds (BGD) Tapered Tiffany Style Half Round, matching plain wedding band with surprise diamond, and mens pipe-cut wedding band with surprise diamond]

The Diamond

Since this is a diamond forum, it's only fair to include some detail on the diamond. It's a BGD Signature Hearts & Arrows round brilliant. 0.65 ct G VS1. Here is a collage of the hearts, arrows and ASET:

Hand Shots

Now to the best part. We took a few shots with the wedding band, and a few without. (The wedding band is now put away, back in its box.) I have a new appreciation for some of the photos people have posted on this forum. Getting a good shot is HARD! I haven't made a serious attempt at getting arrow shots yet, but hopefully I can figure that out with enough practice.

We took these shots tonight, as the sun was getting low in the sky. I think the lighting makes everything look a little warmer than it should be, but it's a nice effect.

(For those wondering, my fiancée wears a size 5 ring.)

It was very important for me to have a non-conflict diamond. And I got the perfect one for me! Princess cut EGL certified diamond from Austria. It has a lovely silver color to it.

specs below are from the certificate:

Weight: 2.52ct
Measurements: 7.31 x 7.19 x 5.66mm
Depth: 78.7%
Table Diameter: 78%
Crown Height: 11%
Depth: 52%
Color: H
Clarity: SI-2
14K white-gold. Size 5.

the side stones are between .10-.11ct each. 14 total. Round Brilliants set in an open U-shaped prong. Total weight approx. 1.40ctw. 3/4 eternity band. G-H color, VS-2/SI-1 clarity. Size 5.

the wedding band is similar, 15 total RB weighing 1.58ctw. G-H color, VS-2/SI-1 clarity. Size 5.

Since the side diamonds are open, they would eventually end up scratching the center setting prongs so I got a 1mm spacer from ebay seller jumpey2003 for a great price!

So all-in-all I have 5.5cts on my hand

Hello everyone,

My three-stone ring by Daniel M. came today, so I thought I'd share some pics. I can't say enough wonderful things about Caren and Dan. They have been so patient with my almost impossible design, and they really pulled it off in the end. Even though the preview pics look nice, it looks much better in person. It literally took my breath away when I opened the box.

The workmanship is impeccable, and their attention to detail is the best I've seen in a custom ring so far.

I'm just over the moon!!

Ring Specs:
Center Stone: 2.56 Peachy Gray diamond
Sidestones: Pear tsavorites at .63 points each.
Setting: 14K white gold shank, 14K rose gold center basket
Style: Inspired by Yssie's stunning trellis setting.

This will be my wife's surprise gift for our 25th. The platinum ring is by Leon Mege and the diamonds were selected by Perry Chen. Center is 2.07ct Asscher J color VS2 clarity. Matching sides are J color VS1-VS2 trapezoids and tapered bullets. Total diamond weight is 2.7ct. I'm no photographer, so I hope these are acceptable - although they don't do the ring justice. It is exquisite! Please see my story in the testimonial forum. Thanks for looking.

Wow.. so hard to photograph pave when you have no patience and lots of shake! This my new Kwiat pave band. Happy 8 years! I've always had a thing for wider bands and for pave. This one is about 5 1/2 mm which is nice because I can still stack it. I like that it's only slightly rounded, it makes it very comfy. 2.46 tcw F VS stones.

I woke up this morning and had received a nice email from Lesley informing me that my fiancee's wedding band was ready to ship. Some of you might remember the long process I went through before finally deciding to go with Brian Gavin. The engagement ring was a custom design I came up with based on one of the Cartier styles and the truth head. The setting is now a part of their catalog and I thought I would share the pictures with everyone. Lesley wanted me to send her engagement ring back so it could be inspected, cleaned and polished and they could also match the wedding band as closely as possible.

Background: This is a ring bought second hand off craigslist...for a really good price. I was very lucky to be scanning the adds at the right time! This is a Tacori #HT2326. Its my dream ring. The center stone is a AGS 000 1.19ct J SI1 RB Hearts & Arrows (brand Heart Star) 6.89-6.90 X 4.19, no fluor. 34.9 crown angle, 54 table, 43.2 pavillion, 60.8 total depth, thin to medium girdle. The side stones are both GIA .30 ct VS2, fine make each that come with the setting from Tacori. The setting is platinum, channel set melee on 3 sides with scalloping and milgrain going around the entire band. It has a total of 28 melee diamonds with .50 ct, for a total of 2.29 ctw.
I have another J colored stone and this one is icy white compared to it, because it is such a great cut. Anyway, Im thrilled, its perfect for me!

I bought my 2plus carat RB from ERD a few years ago and had it set in a solitaire. Unfortunately, DSS set in soon after especially since the stone was set really low. I also got a little bored with the simple setting and longed for something more blingy.

I worked with Mark of ERD and to be honest, like some other posters had experienced, he was sometimes responsive, sometimes not so much. However, he was very helpful and accommodating throughout this transaction and I wouldn't hesitate to work with him again.

Once I purchased the stone, I contacted Steve Kirsch to make the setting for me. Having had a bad custom experience once, I was very nervous to embark on this one. I exchanged many emails with Steven to hash out the details and not once was he short with me.

A couple of things were particularly important to me that I really wanted to get right this time, the size of the halo, and the airline (or the lack thereof). I wanted to go as small as feasible on the halo, smaller than the original HW setting, bearing in mind that this was not an everyday ring for me. And the airline, well, I just didn’t want one.

I sent Steven a few photos and even though he assured me that he knew what I wanted, with no CAD, I was nervous until the very last minute. I heaved a huge sigh of relief when Steven sent me photos of my ring. It was exactly what I had envisioned. The ring IRL is beautiful and the pavework, just impeccable.

So here are the parts that went into building my 100% hand forged ring.

Hi there!

It's been long, but at last I've had my e-ring.

Some of you may remember my previous posts, I've been waiting for almost 1 year for my engagement ring (I admit I was partly responsible for that ) and we eventually chose a 0.9 carat Cartier 1895 ring in June. We had to wait for three more weeks until mid-July to have the ring done (it was made on order since they had none available that did meet our criteria).

I've been wearing it proudly since I got it on 13th July and am happy to say that I love it

I was a bit nervous before I had it on my finger because I wasn't given the opportunity to see the stone before it was set. Of course I trusted Cartier to sell only well cut diamonds but still...All my doubts vanished when I opened the (not so) little red box. The diamond is beautiful and the ring as a whole is perfect.

Once again I wasn't disappointed by their craftmanship and I must say I'm impressed by the quality of their platinum. I've been wearing it for almost two month and still no scratch or patina...

The diamond is really gorgeous and I think it has a lot of fire and brilliance. I'm know there are many diamonds with a better cut (mine is only VG) but I I've been looking at other women rings since I've had mine to try and compare the fire/brilliance saw none that looked significantly better.

I would like to thank all of you wh...efinitely the place to go to get good advice!
