The Forum Engagement Ring Folder/Eye Candy

Here's a ring I designed for my physical therapist to give her wife, after she lost her combined wedding/engagement ring while getting her vaccine shot a few weeks ago. DKJ raced it through, and it will ship out to her next week once it's been engraved. It's 3 x 15pt stones with tapered baguettes, in 14kt, rhodium plated white gold.

Firstly, here's the link to a small YouTube video of the finished piece.

And here's the thread I started, looking for a ring like this I'd seen in the past.

And now the photo....

Many thanks to DKJ for stepping up so completely for a friend of mine in jewelry distress!

I like all three are same size very elegant

I was wondering what you were up to!! The ring is just beautiful, she'll be so thrilled! What a kind gesture to step in and help, you truly have the hugest heart.

I just started a thread about Art Deco pieces in the Antique/Vintage section of anybody wants to share. This is my birthstone and I got it last year for my birthday. It is my favorite setting ever and deeply treasured!!! I was just able to put in a permenant stone: a 1.17 j Si 2 OEC.F62F6287-2F02-4FB2-B4F4-F0FD6E2F11FE.jpegA26D45E7-EBF9-4AF8-B428-03523A037AFC.jpeg

Specs:
3.43 ct. Australian Jelly Opal
.80 diamond melee (baguettes and rounds)
900 Platinum ballerina setting

Love it! The first photo is trippy as it looks as if the person is holding a gigantic ring! Haha

I love jelly opals! It reminds me of my precious Mexican jelly opal cab that I have & it's also an oval. Although mine is probably like 2.5cts. This gave me design ideas for mine! Enjoy your special ring!

It's my John Wick dollie holding that ring. he's about Barbie sized. LOL...That's what I want to get next! A Mexican fire opal. Do they have play of color too?

Omg that is hilarious! Also, I love the fact that you own a john wick doll. Super random!

& Theres so many different types of Mexican opal. Usually Mexican fire opal doesn't have a play of color, it can just be a gorgeous bright fiery orange (think more orange than carnelian!) but it can also be "precious" Mexican fire opal which is orange with a little bit a color play, but my opal is a different type which is more rare for Mexican opal which is specifically precious Mexican jelly opal. It looks very very similar to yours; clear/transparent "jelly" base with a plethora of patchy color play. Mine is crazy and even has a blonde rutile needle in it! It was an awesome find! It shows red, green, orange, purple, & turquoise.

You'll also find a lot of Mexcian opal that has matrix in it, rock matrix. My mind is blanking on what its specific name is but thats also very common & can be beautiful.

Here's some photos of my precious Mexican jelly opal - please forgive the other stones in the pictures but they're the only ones that I have on my phone at the moment.

Also, because of the angle you cannot see that the jelly opal is really more of an elongated oval, like yours. The angle made it shorter and stubby haha but it's a lovely shape in real life.

OMG @LemonMoonLex ! That is so beautiful! And it has golden rutile needles in to too-- that just sounds so gorgeous.

I need to go look for precious Mexican Fire Opal now. I dig that look-- the crystal/clear with color play. Moreso than black opals, tbh.

That Mexican opal is one of the prettiest I have ever seen! I heard that mexican opals require frequent hydration ...is that true?

This ring is a beauty! Can you show a side view and post stats? Thanks so much.

Wow! That’s a gorgeous diamond! I’m happy you found the one that makes you happy!!

Hi. How did you find working with Alex vs Cvb? Any difference in the workmanship? I love this one but absolutely adore the new version with the emeralds

I've only been lurking for the past few years but now I have something new to post. I/We upgraded my ER in 2015 to a newly-cut 3.15ct OMC but I didn't know what type of setting I wanted so it lived in a solitaire until now. Here she is in her "new dress" (first pic is the original solitaire, second pic is the new radiant-shape halo/frame, prong set, with kite shape shoulders).

Traditional solitaire, double prong (Leon Mege)

I wanted to keep my OMC because I love its warmth (I, VVS2) but I am also in love with the shape of radiants (but not their facets), so I framed the OMC and added kite-shaped shoulders. Leon Mege did the benchwork. I kept the prong setting so the center can stay elevated to show off her pretty crown.
