The grandmother thread

Hello Grandma's! I'm not sure how I missed this thread! I think it is sooooooo sweet! I love my MIL and she is a very special grandmother to my children (who are her only g-kids since my DH is her only child).

May I ask a question? Are birthstone jewelry with your grandchildren's birthstones corny? Would you wear one? I have been thinking of getting one for my MIL, but I know I wouldn't wear a birthstone necklace. It is not my style, but my MIL is a bit more emotional about that type of stuff. thoughts?
 
SB IMO that is not corny at all if she's emotional and sentimental it would mean the world to her. I don't know what type of necklace you're thinking of but may I make a suggestion? If there is place like behind the stone to have each child's name engraved that would make it extra special.
 
I would totally wear a birthstone necklace but I think a bracelet with stones, something similar to pandora but not pandora? Would be way cooler. I have four kids so potential for lots of grandchildren. A birthstone bracelet would be more practical. I will see if I can find a picture of one.
 
Well, we are going to have a reveal party June 14. Will it be a boy or a girl???? Anyone else finding out?
 
My daughter also want's to find out, we're waiting for the hospital to call for the ultrasound appointment.
 
We had a cute little bump today for Mother's Day. Kate is upset that she has only gained one pound. Her mom and I said to be happy because by the end she will be glad she didn't balloon up. She just can't wait to look pregnant!

My Daughter, Son-in-law, and foster granddaughters just left this morning. :(( But I got to spend 5 glorious days with them and having some time to bond with the girls. Thursday and Saturday I got to spend time will all 4 grandchildren.....the best time ever. Many special pictures taken and memories that I'll cherish.
 
Sounds like an awesome Mother's Day! I went shopping today and bought one boy, one girl outfit. Big reveal party scheduled for June 14! What the heck is a reveal party and when did this start???? ( I think it's a great idea!)
 
The awaited phone call came in, the ultrasound is scheduled for June 13 which happens to be my dh's birthday (her father), so it'll be a nice birthday present for granddad.She also said "don't expect a phone call after the ultrasound you'll be opening a package instead" lol
 
Aprilbaby and Clueless. Have fun at your reveal parties. Do either of you have any ideas what the babies will be?
 
I'm thinking boy because we have three and hubby's father was the last of seven. I really WANT a girl. I'm prepared for either. Two more weeks !!!!

Cool April soooooooo we get to do our reveal the same day. I'm praying for a healthy baby first and foremost ,so I'm hoping for a healthy little girl. I just love pink and the frilly clothes and the ribbons in the hair an................d yeah get my drift lol I keep telling her she's going to have a boy just to spite me lol my gut is saying boy ..............we'll see
 
Our ultrasound has been moved up to this Thursday! We are all out of town in different places so a video will be sent out to all of us at the same time on Thursday night! :appl: :appl: :appl:

So happy the news is so near. Then Clueless only has a few weeks. Waiting for your announcements.
 
Today I got to babysit the new grandbaby. My DIL had to take the 3 yr old grandson to the dentist. Saturday they were up at her parents, and R was standing on a stool to brush his teeth. The stool tipped, and down he goes, knocking his teeth into the sink. One of his front teeth chipped in half, and the other front tooth is cracked under the gum. So, the dentist recommended an oral surgeon. Tomorrow is a consultation with OS and possibly pulling his teeth. Poor little guy.
 
So it's a .......baby! Legs crossed and they couldn't even get close to viewing. So disappointed! Baby's heartbeat was also too slow tonight so they want to call in a specialist for a look. Don't even google causes, it's depressing and it could have been just a fluke. So, four more weeks and they will try again :(
 
Sorry about not being able to tell the gender. Prayers for safety for mom and baby. Hugs.

Oh April so sorry to hear this certainly not the news I was anticipating on hearing. Positive thoughts and prayers for a Healthy beautiful baby girl for grandma lots of hugs to all xo
 
So we get a second chance tomorrow morning. They are going to Loyola to get a better ultrasound and check the heart with a neonatologist. Hoping they get good news and a peek at the gender!

Today is my DS and DIL 10th anniversary. :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl: It's hard to believe it's been that long.

I have to share a cute story. Monday I went to lunch with my DS and he told me a story about my 3 year old grandson. He took R to Home Depot looking for materials for a project. As they walked down the power tool aisle, R's eyes got huge as he looked around in awe. While looking at all the tools he said "Daddy.....it's BEAUTIFUL" :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: DS was so proud.
 
Patiently (not) waiting for my phone to ring. At this point all I care is that baby O is healthy!

I think Clueless has gender reveal Sat or Sun.

April ongoing prayers for a strong healthy baby and yeah if it wouldn't mind uncrossing it's legs it would be nice xo

oh almost forgot our reveal is tomorrow. She'll be having a reveal party with her friends on Sat.
 
It's a GIRL!!!!!


Bad new, she has fetal heart arrhythmia so we go up another level Tuesday for an echocardiogram and see what's causing it.
Please pray its nothing major.

congrats on it being a girl grandma! Like I said before ongoing prayers that it's a strong and healthy baby. A few friends have had it and everything turned out for the best, one said it was her caffeine consumption that was causing it once she stopped it everything went to normal. xo
 
April...Congratulations on a granddaughter. It's so fun to shop for little girls. Prayers continue for healthy mom and baby.
