Elle, are those chocolates inside of a chocolate box? Because that''s amazing.
Hahaha. Yes they are.

Aw those are so pretty! Well, I dunno if you''d even want to consider it, but what my FF and I have talked about doing is making a donation to our favorite charity in honor of all our guests. And then you just put a card or leaflet or something on each table letting people know thats what you did. That way you can spend only what you can afford, it helps a good cause, and you don''t end up with a bunch of left over favors that people left behind! Just a suggestion
25.gif
That is an excellent suggestion! We did consider that actually, and it''s still on the table!

I don''t think anyone would leave behind chocolate boxes filled with chocolate though.

Hey, ladies. I haven''t checked in on this thread in awhile, but I am having a mellow (AKA: slacker) day at work and thought I''d join the fun.

Elle, I would have to agree that I can''t imagine anyone would leave behind that chocolate goodness. Those look fabulous!!

Pluck, my sister did the donation thing for her wedding, and it went over well.

There have only been a few weddings were I really felt the favor was done well. A friend of mine had a wine-themed wedding, and they gave everyone a wine opening kit. It was really nice and something a lot of people could use, though those of us who flew in for the wedding ended up losing part of the kit b/c we couldn''t carry it on! Oh well. I still have the bottle stopper.

While this seems like an almost-dead topic from yesterday, I MUST add that I am among the bouquet toss-hater group. My favorite depiction of this tradition was in one of the Sex and the City episodes... you guys remember this? The bouquet falls in front of all four of them and they all let it drop to their feet. That''s sort of how I have always felt about it at weddings I''ve attended.

Thats a really cute idea about the wine kit.

Our reception is at a wine/cigar bar... hmmm....now my brain meats are moving!

I love the wine kit idea! B and I are thinking about doing mini-bottles of our homebrewed beer (if our venue is okay with it).

Thanks! We''re amateur beer connoisseurs, and started brewing our own recently. It''s super fun, and very "us" if we can use the beers as favors.

Pluck, I like this idea a lot. I also thought about that if I ever married a guy who was dead set on having a dollar dance at the reception (it''s pretty common in the Midwest to have those - I personally am not a fan), that instead of keeping the money, I would let the guests know that it would be donated.

I would donate a few bucks on behalf of my guests to the local humane society. Save the kitties!

Chocolate, inside more chocolate?!?! How could you go wrong?!
18.gif

Oh yeah, speaking of which, has anyone seen the new Axe commercial with the guy made of chocolate? I like when his arm gets ripped off as a girl is driving by. LOL!!!

Wait, are the chocolates inside the chocolate box filled with some sort of chocolate ganache? Is that legal? Chocolate filled chocolates in a chocolate box?

Haha. Reminds me of that Jim Gaffigan bit: "I bet if you put bacon bits on a strip of bacon, you could travel back in time."

(Okay, if anyone has 7 minutes to spare, check out the
clip. Note: he doesn''t start discussing bacon until about 2 minutes in.

Mmmmm....chocolate. I am all about edible favours. Especially when you''re one of the last people to leave and you can sneak the leftovers.
31.gif
I like the donations as well, especially if there''s a charity that''s really close to your heart.

Good news! I went to the dentist and it turns out one of my fillings had just popped out. So he filled it and life is good again. I even let him talk me into getting scheduled for a general cleaning/visit. That''s a miracle. It''s been maybe 2 years since I''ve seen the dentist, I think, and I''m pretty happy that way. But I guess a regular visit every 6 months won''t kill me.

If there weren''t any wrappers, you could just bite the box in half and get double deliciousness. Mmmm...

Loooove Jim Gaffigan. That bacon bit (ahem... pun intended

) is great. I also love his whole thing on Hot Pockets. Must''ve heard it over 20 times, but it still cracks me up, especially the way he sings the jingle.

I don''t know if that is legal, but that''s part of the fun. Elle, those favors look DELICIOUS and I dont think there would be any leftovers!

And CurlySue, I can completely relate to the SATC bouquet toss!

Jim Gaffigan is one of my FAVORITES! His delivery is hilarious!

1. Lewis Black
2. Jim Gaffigan
3. Brian Reagan

And lets not forget Dave Chappelle

I love Lewis Black. The way he talks makes everything funny. Steve Colbert is one of my faves, though he''s not standup. He can say the funniest things completely seriously! I wanna be him when I grow up.

Dane Cook''s old stuff was damn hilarious too. Before all his jokes became about sex.
40.gif

DG, I LOVE Brian Reagan. I always laugh when someone says "You too!"

Ditto this. I miss the old Dane Cook. I find him creepy now.

You guys ever heard Mike Birbiglia? I like him, too.

I went through this phase at work where I was traveling overseas a lot, and I got sick of listening to music. Instead, I started downloading full-length comedy albums. It was a great way to pass the time on the flights, but... people thought I was INSANE. I''d be sitting there on the plane laughing hysterically (I am definitely a laugh-out-loud kinda person), seemingly for no reason whatsoever.

Haha, I love this one too! Russel Peters is also one of my favorites. He does hilarious impressions of different accents! He''s pretty clean too. And yes, FF quotes Jim G regularly too...especially about hot pockets!

Does anyone listen to Bob & Tom in the morning on the radio?

I seriously will have a lousy day if I can''t listen to some comedy on my commute to work!

This isn't really a "brag" even though it will come off as one: but I met Lew when he came to town and we saw his show. FF and I Took pictures with him. He also autographed one of his CD's for me. Really REALLY nice, calm and a quiet guy. Completely different than when he's on stage which I found surprising. I always pictured him always hyped up. lol

Here's the photo of me and Lew. A pretty bad photo/weird angle of me however but anyway...
