LOL
i hadn''t heard of one until my cuz''s wedding awhile back. though we knew it was going to break and all the little girls scrambled around to get roses, it was cute.

depending on if a couple certain people are in attendance and still not engaged by the time my wedding rolls around, i just might rig mine to break into 3 pieces.

then 3 guys will follow your dad''s lead and be running for the bar.

i used to catch the bouquet all the time when i was little, but the last 4 weddings I''ve gone to no luck... i think I''ll just give up. though i don''t really have any weddings to go to this summer... the next one that i believe I''ll be going to isn''t until next June, in HAWAII!!! yea...

what is a break-away bouquet?

Pretty sure its a bouquet that''s rigged so that whenever it hits the person''s hand that catches it, all the flowers just go everywhere. It doesn''t stay in tact. So you get a big poof of flowers in the face!

Is this right ladies?

the ones i''ve seen are all individual flowers that when the bride hols it, it looks like a complete bouquet, but when she throws it the blooms scatter so everyone can have one. of course it you want to peg someone, then just don''t tell em it''s coming and someone will run right into the flying flowers

break away pic

hope that helps

and google''s celebrating igor stravinsky''s birthday! i love the stravinsky design ^^

Oh cool. I stand corrected. That''s a really cute idea though, so people don''t feel left out.

however figuring out how to make one explode when caught is intriguing. i know a couple very enthusiastic, will battle for it, bouquet catchers

Am I the only one here who hates the garter/bouquet tosses?

Back from lunch!

NO!!!! I don''t like them at all!

I think PS has a bunch of bouquet/garter haters actually.

i know PS does, but when it comes to my friends we''ve had a blast with the tosses. first college wedding i went to, one of my friends almost caught the garter in his mouth, only to have it stolen inches from his face. we then bemoaned the loss of the coolest garter catch ever (would''ve been an awesome picture)
ever since i caught one, i really haven''t tried (and honestly i only tried that time so the picture would look funny)

The attorney sitting across from me is rocking out to ABBA.

Speechless.

I'm sure it can have its funny moments, but I just don't dig it.

Especially when people force the LsIW who've been waiting a bit too long up there, and it embarasses them.

ah, i would too if that was the case, but of my friends i''ve been the one who''s been waiting the longest, and of those that haven''t gotten married, only a few have been in a serious relationship for over a year. there''s one of M''s friend''s who should propose to his longtime girl after he gets back from afghanistan. if not there are a couple of us who will talk to him to try to figure out what he''s thinking as far as a timeline, M included. actually M possibly more so than just about anyone since that girl is really sweet and deserves to be treated quite well.

Elle, Bia--WHERE ARE YOOOOOOOUUUU???????

AHHHH!! LP I''m so sorry! I completely forgot!

I suck! We haven''t played in so long that I kind of fell out of the habit!

Forgive me?!

LOL--it''s ok. Things have been crazy around here. Have I mentioned that trying to find a venue sucks? I can''t believe how expensive weddings are!

I like the garter/bouquet toss (and I would be mauled by family and friends if I didn''t) but what I love is when the DJ asks all the married couples to the floor, and starts to play a slow song. They all start dancing, and after maybe half a minute or so, he says, "ok, now if everyone who has been married a year or less, please take your seats" and they do so. Then it''s 5 years, 10 years, 20 years, etc until the couple at the wedding who has been married the longest is remaining. They finish the song, and then the two of them get the bouquet and the garter-- it''s soooo cute! And such a nice way to honor marriage at a wedding. I love it!

Thank you.

Yes, wedding planning is BS. My "small" wedding is already over budget.

Do you have your venue list at least kind of narrowed down? Pics?

How''s the job situation going? Any prospective jobs?

lilmiss, that is a cute idea! i just might do that, but i''d feel bad if one of my little cousins caught the bouquet and then had to give it up.

I can''t stop straightening out paper clips at work. I''ve ruined so many! It''s like a nervous habit!

We''re looking at a number of places around town. I''d love to keep the venue rental under $2500 for 100 people, so we''re really trying to stick to that. It''s surprising how hard that actually is. The current front-runner is the Oregon Historical Society, so I''m going to check it out this afternoon.

Hey girlies. LP sorry about Monday, I have been busy working on a project for school so I haven''t had much time for PS or WoW. I also think I might cancel because I''m not playing. I know I only have fun playing with you guys, versus playing on my own. That must mean something LOL.

I am going to pick up SIMS3 once I finish school in August--from what I hear it''s a lot of fun and I think you can find your friends online.

Elle, how are you over budget already? And what''s the story with your dress? Few of our ladies are getting married this weekend...should be a fun next couple of weeks in terms of wedding pictures!

I was considering cancelling too. Not because I don''t like the game, but because I just plain don''t have time, and I hate spending the money on something I''m not using when I need the money so badly.

I wanted to play Sims3 also!

I have no idea how I''m over budget. This 30 person wedding is already breaking my 10,000 budget, and it sucks. Everything is just expensive, and so many little details I keep forgetting about.

I did get a good deal on my dress though.

Morning, ladies! Just popping in to say hi. Lots of cleaning to do; B''s family is coming to visit this weekend, and the condo needs to look perfect.

I''ll probably take a little break to check PS later, though!

Elle, what are you doing for your wedding favors? Are you having them? Cause if so, I have an idea for you that might save some money...

We are, we were thinking about doing these....

Hey ladies, it''s been awhile since I''ve said hi! I hope y''all are doing well.. Sounds like some of you former LIWs are having a time planning your weddings.. good luck!

As for yesterday''s topic.. I *hate* the bouquet/garter toss.. It''s getting worse and worse because the more weddings I go to, the less single girls there are. I went to one last summer where there were *2* of us.. plus the flower girl. Ahhhh I hate it! There is always the one desperate girl (DG) and everyone knows she wants to get married so she pushes everyone out of the way to get to it.. I always stand in the middle so the bride thinks I''m being a good bridesmaid
17.gif
and then help the DG make her dreams come true! No offense to any DGs out there.. I just don''t like the whole situation!

LOL. Poor DGs!

I am right there with you... I don''t like the situation either!

Elle, are those chocolates inside of a chocolate box? Because that''s amazing.

Aw those are so pretty! Well, I dunno if you''d even want to consider it, but what my FF and I have talked about doing is making a donation to our favorite charity in honor of all our guests. And then you just put a card or leaflet or something on each table letting people know thats what you did. That way you can spend only what you can afford, it helps a good cause, and you don''t end up with a bunch of left over favors that people left behind! Just a suggestion
