lol!

how is today going for everyone? I am pretty tired, but what else is new? didn''t get in a workout last night either. ug. i think today it will be, get home at 630, work out for 45 mins and then hit the bed hard.
I''m exhausted. I barely rolled out of bed by 8 and I''m supposed to be at work at 8. My hair is in a gross ponytail and headband, completely unstyled.

I need to work out tonight also, but I doubt I''ll have time. FF''s parents are coming over for his birthday and we''re going to dinner tonight.
Morning ladies!
Elle--any chance your FF will propose for his birthday?? I''ve read of a few guys planning on doing that before over in the Proposal Ideas section. If so, that would mean your listkeeper dust worked ultra fast!
Ehhh... nah I don''t think so. Unless he has me really fooled.

He said he wanted to wait until I graduate, so it shouldn''t be for at least three more weeks!

Yeah 3 weeks is no big deal. I''m actually pretty calm about the whole thing. I know it''s coming!

Jcar - lol yeah, he was a brat on FB! He loves bugging me about the whole thing. Again... what a brat!

Sorry, I just couldn''t resist....haha. I know you''ve said before, but somehow I can''t recall...what are you actually graduating with?

BTW, totally tried the English Pirate version of Facebook last night, cracked up for a few minutes, and switched it back because I was LOST! It was adorable though.

Bachelors in Sociology. Not sure what the heck I want to do with it, so don''t ask!

I got so confused on Pirate English FB also! I had to switch it back! It was really funny, though.

Haha, you did have plans to eventually go on for graduate school correct? I've just finished up my 'new degree seeking graduate student checklist' and am ready to register for me first set of masters classes in the fall as soon as they open registration for college of public health students. I'm nervous/excited about the program, it's an entirely different department than my undergrad so it'll be a bit of an adjustment.

Pirate FB was awesome, but for only about 5 minutes when I tried to do something and couldn't figure it out. I was totally hoping everone else would see my profile in pirate, but alas, it was for my viewing pleasure only so that made me change it back too.

ETA: but aparently pirate FB stuck with me a bit today!

Thanks! Well I don''t know if Michigan is the same as Florida, but here if you work full time for the university, you can take 6 credits/semester for free, that''s how I''m getting my masters (paid for). It''ll take me a bit longer, but only 2 semesters more than if I went full time. Does your local university have an employee tuition program? Now that you''ve graduated you can try and apply for jobs at the university??

I could do that.. and I''ve looked. Believe me. Jobs are just really hard to come by in Michigan right now and there''s nothing available. Maybe I could talk to a FA advisor and see if they have any more suggestions for getting my school paid for.

Yeah, I just googled some and was looked at umich.edu (is that where you go?) trying to see if they had an employee tuition program. It wouldn''t have been a great job, and I would have hated it, but I even applied for custodial positions on campus, I was willing to take anything full time that would pay for my school. Not to mention, once you''re in the door, you better considered for transfers, etc.

I actually go to Eastern Michigan... which has far fewer job openings!

I could go to Umich (they''re pretty much next to one another)... but it''s a hard and competitive school to get into, particularly the school of social work. I doubt my 3.4 GPA would get me in, unfortunately.

Write a kick booty letter of intent, rock the GRE, and try! You never know...I did find the info on UMich, it''s called the tuition support program, but they require that you be on the job for 6 months prior to enrollment and the courses have to be ''job related''. At Univ of South Florida, they don''t require things like that. As long as you begin work the day before the semester begins and work thorughout the term, you can take courses and they don''t have to be job related. For instance, I just began full time on 5/22, will begin classes in 8/24 and work as a "Fiscal and Business Specialist" (I manage budgets for three deparments) and am going for a Masters of Public Health, hah.

Hmph. Well... U of M is probably out then.

Eastern has tuition waiver, it doesnt have to be in your career path, but I have to be employed for a year first.

However... spouses also get it at 50% off. That means FF could get his Bach degree!

That doesn''t sound like a bad gig, sucks you''d have to wait a year, but it would give you guys some time to save up some moolah. And that would be great that your FF could go back to school too!
Or you could always move to Tampa, come to USF (we have a great social work program!), I''ll help get you a job in my office, and you can go to school for free immediately

I'm doing the same! My school pays my entire tuition, minus taxes, which are deducted from my paycheck weekly (so I don't really feel the pinch). If I were an undergrad, they would pay 100% tuition, and it would be tax free. Plus my spouse/children can go for free too. Considering it's a 40k+/school, that's not bad and it's the only reason my job is worth keeping at the moment (well that, and that there is very little job security right now) because the pay isn't that hot.

btw: Good morning everyone!

You should go back! I''m a big advocate for getting an education and I strongly believe anyone can go back. Sure it''s hard. There was lady that was a member of our study group the last 2 years of my program. She began working on her degree in 1990 (yeah, I was 4!!) and over 17 years completed her AA (all the while working, had gotten married, and had two children) finally finished her AA in 2007, joined our program attending full time and graduated with us in May/2009 with a BA and a 4.0, can you tell that I admire her? She''s also beginning graduate school in the MPH program with me in the Fall, she''s an awesome woman.

Considering it's a 40k+/school, that's not bad and it's the only reason my job is worth keeping at the moment (well that, and that there is very little job security right now) because the pay isn't that hot.

btw: Good morning everyone!
USF will cover everything except the online course fees ($30/credit hour, amounting to under $200 bucks/semester) It is considered taxable income, but it's still totally worth it!

ETA: Oh, and good morning Bia!

[/quote]

wow talk about inspiring!!

Morning Bia! are you over your cold now?
