Mornin ladies! I tried the pirate thing last night, but it was too weird. But I did change FI''s!

I''ll have to see if he even notices...

Jcar, I used to have the same problem working early. I''d take ''lunch'' at 9 or 10, and usually go have breakfast again because that''s all you could find open!

27.gif
i''ll have to tell M that i''m not the only one who does that
9.gif
more than likely he''ll say "now look what you''ve gone and started"

Bia- not really. i work for a catering company and we have cafes/clients on the east coast. but, it least it allows me to have a second job and get off work early, and not have to deal with my own coworkers (and bosses!) for at least 3/4 hours a day

I''m back!

Bibimbop is AWESOME. I love korean food!!

I went to get my oil changed and picked up lunch. I got coerced into an "engine flush" whatever that is. 90 bucks later... here we are.

oooooooh i''ve had that before and it is delicious! i''m currently in love with the thai restaurant but my affair with the korean one will start up again soon.

sorry you got coerced into having an engine flush. i take it they wiped and washed their hands?

I hate when they try to do that. My favorite was when I got my oil changed and they tried to convince me that my power steering fluid was bad. Yeah, the power steering fluid that I had just checked a week before.

You should have seen the guy trying to backtrack once he realized that I actually knew something about cars.

Have you seen the undercover report they did on Jiffy Lube and all the unnecessary stuff they push people into? I always just say "no thanks" and if it''s something I''m worried about I take it to our mechanic.

BTW: misskitty, I didn''t know you tried out law school. what made you decide you didn''t like it?

Oops! Almost missed this in that last page.

I think the best way to put it is that I went for the wrong reasons, but couldn''t see that until I was already there. I took the LSAT, did fairly well, and really got hyped up about it. I poured myself full-force into the app process, and did what I thought was complete research into my chosen career. The problem was, I ended up with a completely inflated idea of what law school/a legal career would be like -- I honestly thought that I would be handling groundbreaking cases and making big changes.

And then I got there, and the fog disappeared, and I realized that the bulk of what I''d be doing as a lawyer is researching and regurgitating someone else''s old work, and applying things that were not original. Which makes sense -- the law should be consistent -- but it kind of crushed me. I know that there are other fulfilling aspects of the career, and that many attorneys are happy with their choices, but that part just got to me.

I quit after 1L year, and took a break to get a job and figure out what would really make me happy, and it occurred to me that it wasn''t about what industry I was in -- I''m happiest when I''m creating something new, or at least helping with that process. I''ve always been a bit of a computer geek, and after quite a bit of soul-searching, I realized that I could be totally happy developing software. I''m in a grad program for software engineering now, and I''m happier on the most frustrating days of school than I was on the best days of law school.

So much for small talk

That''s the short version, haha!

i got a chicken salad sandwich from plum market! Plum market is like whole foods... in case they arent around you.

Yeah. I hadn't had my oil changed since JANUARY 2008! So it was really bad... and I may have actually needed a flush. I guess if you get regular oil changes, flushes aren't necessary?

They also tried to talk me into changing the air filter, but I can do that myself, and I told them so!

I must say, the car is accelerating more smoothly.

eta: LP, I did not see that, but I believe it! I tell FF i don't like doing the oil changes myself because of the things they try to sell you on, and I have a hard time saying no. He just thinks i'm being a wimp... but I swear they prey on females!

they do. just put your foot down!
or say something "i must consult with the car owner first"
that usually works.

Ok, now I''m reading that they''re actually bad for your engine.

Great.

if they''re bad for your engine couldn''t places get in big trouble for pushing them on people?

Boo. I had mine changed on Sunday. $100!!! My air filters were quite disgusting though, they showed them to me. But still! Highway robbery!!! Last time I got it changed at a different place it was $15. I will be returning there next time. Ha!

Can''t say I''ve ever had Korean food before. Weird! Maybe I created an association because of my evil Korean dormmate in college.

I have no idea, but now I''m scared something is going to happen to my engine!

$100 for just an oil change? Or something else, too?

I got mine changed last week for $29 -- oil change, air added to tires, topped off wiper fluid, etc.

sunny if you lived near me i''d kidnap you and take you to this great korean restaurant we have downtown and i bet you''d seperate the food from the evil dormmate in a flash!
it''s named after the owner (an elderly lady who still does a lot of the cooking herself) and they have sushi too

oh and there''s a gelato place next door to it... definitely best lunch/dessert combo i''ve had

Squirrly, do you live in my city? Because the Korean place I go to is also right by an awesome gelato place!

do you happen to live in evansville, IN?

Haha, nope. St. Louis. Weird coincidence, though!

I think the oil was $50 -10 because of a coupon I had. Then 2 air filters were $70-10 just because. How generous!

I actually cried when I got in the car.
