This was told to me by a girl named Tiffany...so not stepping on toes here...unless of course this is old news to you guys...and already a discussion has begun.

She (This Tiffany) told me that the same named store is phasing out it''s lower end lines. IE: sterling...return to Tiffany etc. They realized that trying to be all things to all people was dropping sales...Why? Story goes that the high end consumer doesn''t want to co-mingle with the budget shopper. This companys bread and butter is ofcourse the high end shopper. So one has to go. That is the reason for the price increase. To start to wean the budget shopper off and out of the store.

Aw shucks...haven''t a few of out PS''s just recently posted of their positive experience while shopping? Just when the PR may turn the corner...WHAM...

Just a heads up if you were planning to begin you collection...you might consider your purchase now.

DKS

forgive me if this has already been discussed...

Hee. heee. too much shopping yesterday I guess. It is great to have you watching our backs...thank you for the correction. I am grateful!

I am so sorry Skippy GIRL. I am sure my words through you for a loop. I bet you lost sleep too. When you changed your avatar you lost your identity to me. But you still get to keep the VA VA VA VOOM

part! I suppose now we know your true identity with a full body shot in your avatar.

Curiopotter is one of the PS biker chicks and has a great litter of boxer pups. (bike and pups) I enjoy reading about her gutsy adventures. I am too wimpy to ride my bicycle too fast...so I could never strap on a motor. I hadn''t noticed her lately...and I just confused you with her. I promise to quit taking NIPS as I as posting.

Forgive me...

heehehe.
I told hubby about the motorcycle and he laughed. I wonder where Curio is and how her ring is coming along.
My avatar use to be of me and hubby and then of the ocean and now mermaid. . . which is extra cheesy! Hope that helps.

I am happy Irinia knows who I am. I guess she took notice of when I posted swiffers in SMTR by accident.

Yes of course, Skippy, I do remember the ocean. I am glad you got a laugh...and even more happy you came back to read the correction. I can be quite a knucklehead sometimes...(Hubby would beg to differ on the some part...) so I am glad you came back to read it.

My best-DKS

No biggie. I get people confused all the time.

Aww...this makes me a little sad. I''m 30, and I just got the heart tag toggle bracelet a few months ago. I just loved the style of it, chunky and substantial, even without the Tiffany label. I debated getting one over the past 4-5 years just because I saw teens, including my two nieces, wearing them everywhere I went, and figured I was too "old" for it, but then I realized it was something I wanted not because of status or whatever, but because I just really liked the style, so I got one and I really like it. I probably won''t venture into any more Tiffany purchases, though. I can understand the company wanting to keep that upper echelon customer rather than cater so much towards the teen market niche.

Skippy, no one''s gonna confuse you with some else now.

Hey all, maybe the silver items will become collector pieces!

I thought there was a thread awhile ago talking about how MUCH Tiffany makes off of all their silver pieces. Hmmm....I guess time will tell.

Awwwwe thanks! That is sweet.

Sorry guys, collector''s pieces are things that are made in small quantities and limited productions...Heart tag bracelets and Return to Tiffany necklaces are so copied, and so profuse throughout the US and world that they are not worth that much used. Maybe 100 years from now if we have a silver crisis and most people sell them to melt them down....and some few pieces remain...?

Maybe some of the more experimental pieces made in silver (like Picasso) or Peretti that few are made...?

I was joking, but darn!

I wouldn''t hold the funeral for Tiffany sterling just yet. Yes they are concerned about maintaining their exclusivity. It is an issue. But I listen to their conference calls and they are not departing sterling.

Has anyone noticed their new charm collection? They are doing them in sterling, gold and platinum. There are a ton of sterling charms, $125 each as I recall.

Further, a large hedge fund has accumulated around 3-5% of the outstanding stock and is agitating for more brand extensions, e.g. sunglasses and so on.
