Princesss - I got your email and haven't had a chance to *really* sit down and read it. I only had a chance to skim it, but I just wanted to tell you thanks and that it was nice of you (two!) to think of me!
Glad we didn't offend. I was nervous. You know those times when your heart is in the right place, but you worry about the execution? Yeah. I was there.

Okay, ladies, I guess I can tell you. I'm scared but....I put my name in for a new job/small promotion yesterday. I should find out next week-ish if I'm going to get an interview. It means that I'd have to delay moving to VA, but I'll trade a solid chance at something here for a hypothetical job there. PLUS how good would it look if I got promoted after only a year and a half with the company? That would give me a much better chance of getting something good and well-paying when we move. And it gets me out of customer service and into a section of the business I'm more interested in. So does anybody have some dust to spare?

ETA: Oh boy. I just looked. I think it'd actually be a two-level jump in terms of job grade. Yikes!

That would be awesome, Princesss!!

Yeah. I don''t like having the same title as his mother.
20.gif
Makes me feel like an old lady.

To make matters worse, I turn 27 in a week, and the little twit at the store the other day called me "ma''am"

I will "ma''am" her!
29.gif

Yea, I''ve been getting ma''am too once in awhile ::sigh::

it''s really annoying.

So have you and M talked about the ''M'' word? (Moving...
27.gif
) Whats the status on moving in together?
Welllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll...

Due to weird circumstances and sh*tty roommates, M is moving out of his place at the landlord''s request (his roomies trashed the place, and despite M being the responsible roommate the landlord wants to be able to repair the damage ASAP - totally makes sense, and we feel really bad for the landlord because he''s a good guy) and moving in with me!!!!!! So in the next two weeks or so we should be all moved in and officially living in sin. In my parents house.
3.gif
Yeah, it makes me giggle a little bit. The rent for the house is going up, but our payments individually are going down. It''s a good deal. I''m going to clean out the closet for him this weekend. (You can tell I''m excited because I''m willingly tackling the closet. And the bathroom.) So from now until whenever he moves to VA (I have a feeling I''ll be down here a little longer than he will if this job happens), we''re living together. And then once I get up there, we''re living together.

The slow crawl to 30 is a painful one, eh?

Just move to the South. You''ll get ma''am-ed so much you won''t even notice it. I had 17 year old boys ma''am-ing me when I was 21!!!

At least they''ve got manners.

I knew he got evicted and that you were planning on moving in together, but I wasn''t sure how quickly it would happen.

I''m so happy for you, P! You guys are going to love it!

Are you going to PS search the "list of things to do before you move in together" and make sure you check a bunch off the list?

Haha. True. Ma''am isn''t used that much in Michigan unless you are significantly older than the person helping you.

How can I get carded for movies AND ma''am-ed? Makes no sense! If I''m old enough to be ma''am-ed, I can see the dang R-rated movie!

I hate being ma''am-ed, but I also hate being miss-ed. It''s a no win situation.

Nope, it was not in the same sentence. I might have fought a movie theater employee if that were the case!

I love the term "living in sin" I used to use it all the time before we got married.

Sunnyd - How you holding up? A little over a week to go!

I''m pretty sure that waiting to hear back about a job is more torture than being a LIW.

Every single time the phone rings, I get that excited, nervous feeling, and then I am so bummed when it''s a call confirming a dentist appointment or something.

so try this, i got ma''am''d my senior year of highschool (5.5 yrs ago
14.gif
) yet last easter i got asked if i was one of the orchestra director''s (a middle school teacher) students, and last month the security guard at the hospital i work at had to ask me if i was over 17. (stupid h1n1 hysterical regulations) and a waitress insinuated quite heavily that my id was a fake.

but around here anyone significantly older than you is respectfully ma''am, hence why elementary school kids ma''am''d me over half a decade ago.

a heaping dose of job/life/engagement/wedding weather dust to all!

oh and M got his orders today....

by this time next year i will no longer be a midwestern squirrel.....

helllllllllllllllo san diego!

no more tornadoes, ice storms, and snow. however i get earthquakes, mudslides and fire. fire and mudslides are pretty self explanitory on the where to go bit, but should i stay indoors or go outside during an earthquake? i''ve never figured that one out and the only two we''ve had here i thought i must''ve been dreaming so i didn''t really react.

Today has been good and bad.

Good stuff:
Got invitations.
Stuffed, stamped and sealed invitations.
Got new bling in the mail.

Bad stuff:
FI''s mom''s best friend passed away. She was the closest thing to a mom he had left since his mom passed away in 2006. Plus her son is her only living relative, and she was his. So he''s absolutely devastated. And they were both to be invited to the wedding. We have no idea what happened yet, just that it was natural.

So of course it''s terrible that she''s gone, but it just brings back memories from less than a year ago.

I think it''s time to go to bed...

aww i''m sorry to hear that freke. healing dust for all affected by her passing, especially with his mother''s death having happened so recently.

(and for some reason i imagined your invitations as little stuffed turkeys with stamps on them. perhaps i should go to bed too)

Aw Freke I''m sorry
7.gif

*Hugs* to the both of you.

Squirrly! I haven''t seen you around here much lately! How are you?

Freke, I''m sorry, hun. *hugs*

Squirrly - earthquakes are best experienced from inside an interior doorway. Brace your back and legs against one side, and your hands on the opposite side. If there is no doorway near, you want to be under a solid piece of furniture, like a solid dining room table. Hold on to the leg of the table with one arm (or desk or whatever) pull your knees under your chest, tuck your head to your knees, and cover your neck with one arm. (Wow, apparently I remember a lot from earthquake drills at school.)

Freke - Oh no that''s terrible! Big hugs to you guys!

Squirrly - Oooooh San Deigo is fabulous!

Happy Thirsty Thursday everyone!

Hehehe!!! Our last major earthquake was in 2000(1?) and it was a 6.8 or something. Big. I was in class and the ground started moving and my quiet, cute, non-swearing english teacher goes "OH SH*T!! Get under your desks!" It was hilarious!!!
