I love our fake tree. I see it was a good investment. Since trees cost $100 every year and ours cost $100 for 10 years of enjoyment!

Then you just get a tree scented candle. Done and done.

i agree. at first i hated the idea of fake ones, but lately they look so nice, and so much eaiser to deal with! i''ll be honest, i love the pre-lighted ones. while i love stringing the lights, i hate the backseat drivers who always try to help me.

This will be our first Christmas together. We are also getting a fake tree.

I'm not willing to deal with the dogs + a real tree = health hazard (eating it) and/or peeing on it.

I'm just excited because I don't even remember the last time I had a Christmas tree!

DreamGirl - how do you make your tree last so long? or is it fake? i want a fake tree but E loves to cut down his own tree. i am sure we will have pictures of that soon!

It''s fake. They last much longer and the value is better because you reuse it every year. We do this mainly because my mom is allergic to the real ones. It''s nice to take it out of the box and put it together. I''m a HUGE Christmas lover so I can''t help but get an early start. Especially after the horrible year we''ve had. I can''t wait till 2010!

It would kind of be fun to get a real tree. One day I plan on having many Christmas trees in my home. Each one will have a theme. Then there will be the main big tree that the presents go under.

I''m glad to be here. I''ve missed you all so much.

I''m doing ok for what it''s worth. My mom seems to be ok for now. As I said, I can''t wait for ''09 to be over with.

S had to sign up for emergency unemployment last week. Can you believe that? He only gets 12 weeks left now and that''s it. Then what?! I don''t know how he will pay his mortgage. I''m so worried about him. He just can''t land anything, it''s horrible.

I do have some other kinda good news that I was going to put in another thread when I get a chance.

My Grandma used to do that. She LOVED Christmas. It was always so fun to help her get stuff set up and everyone loved to see what she had done each year.

They had a vaulted ceiling and sky lights so the living room got a 15-20 ft. tree special ordered each year. The dining room and family room got 6 ft. silk trees.
Each tree had a theme. All of the family ornaments went in the family room. The dining room and living room changed each year. (blue & silver, burgandy & gold, snowmen, santa, angels, etc.)

She had her angels that would come out each year. All different sizes. So pretty.

Each year also got a theme. (snowmen, santa, angels, snowflakes, etc.) She''d buy decorations for every room and the tables. Even new table settings some years. (like the snowmen)


Which reminds me: need LOTS of storage room.
When she died, we cleaned out 3 dedicated Christmas closets plus a storage shed.


Okay, now I''m all teary.
I hope you get your different trees with themes. It was so much fun and makes for wonderful memories.

My mom and sister usually go shopping early on black Friday. I always say I''m going and then when they try to wake me up, well, not so much. LOL. I am getting excited about Christmas this year. It is our first year in our own apartment together and I''ve been buying decorations and stuff. SO just looks at me like I am nuts!

Oh wow. That''s totally me when I get my own place. But for now I still put up tons of stuff. Even in my bedroom. I''ve got 2 trees in my bedroom. lol! (one of which is a Charlie Brown tree I got last year. I love it!) Our tree has all ornaments that my grandparents made when I was a little girl. They lived in Chicago and made all these bead/ball ornaments for us. I still have the original box she mailed them to us in. It''s covered in flower wall paper. The inside used to smell just like my grandma. And if you smell inside real well, you can still get a hint of her. (And this was from way back in the 80''s.
