Nope. I have a total complex about it sometimes. My DH's ex is 5'0' on a good day, and that bugs the crap out of me! LOL. No one gets that.

Although, not going to lie, I love me some good heels.

(I assume you mean 6'0'

)

Yeah, i'm 5'10' and FI is just under 6. I love heels, and can't wear them. It's awful.

I slouch a lot to feel shorter, but then you just look fatter. You can't win.

Nono...my DH's ex (a girl) is 5'0'' and it weirds me out!

ETA: DH is the first "tall" guy I ever dated...he is 6'3'' and I love it, the higher the heel, the better! One of my friends commented on one of our elopement pictures "he must be tall for you to wear shoes like that...is that why you picked him?" it cracked me up. Maybe
3.gif

Side note-why do super tall guys always date really short girls??

Yea Princesss!! Can''t wait!

Just back from the vet ladies and the news isn''t what I had hoped for. It''s almost certainly another mammary tumor, and one of the two x-rays showed what is likely to be a mat in the lung. Waiting to hear if anything comes back with the blood work.

I don''t know what to do. Simi is 15. The last time we went through this (4 yrs ago) chances of living 1 yr post surgery were 50%, but that was with a clean lung x-ray. Of course, we can''t be sure this lung x-ray isn''t clean b/c only the side view showed something. The vet said that theoretically the other view should show something, but since it doesn''t she can''t be definitive. I just can''t figure out whether to have the tumor removed or not. I don''t know if I want to put her through ANOTHER surgery particularly if its already in her lungs (plus she gets so stressed out whenever we go to the vets and that gets me all worked up.) The vet thought she would have about a year if I did nothing.

I know you guys can''t tell me what to do, but what are your thoughts reading this?

TheBigT: Yeah, I definitely plan on escaping as soon as possible. BF and I are going to get through grad school, and then we''re leaving the country and (hopefully) never coming back. Well, visiting family and stuff will have to happen. But I don''t like living in the same place for too long. I get all antsy in the pantsy. I''ve been in the States for 5 years now. I''m done. But I have probably 3 or 4 more years left.
15.gif
I just like adventures, and I feel like my adventure capabilities are seriously impeded here. I like getting lost in countries where I don''t speak the language (bonus points if I can''t read the signs!). I like big airports and passport stamps and all different kinds of food. *le sigh* I''m homesick for all of that.

Oh, sweetie. I''m so sorry.

If it were me - I wouldn''t do the surgery. She''s 15, she gets stressed at the vet''s, the surgery is painful and doesn''t guarantee that she''ll get better. I''d let her live out her life in minimal pain and just love her to bits and pieces.

Awww... Topo... I''m so sorry to hear you didn''t get the news you wanted.

I''d do what was best for the kitty. I love my cat more than most people think is sane, I''m SUPER attached. I would do everything I could to keep my cat alive, assuming the cat was not suffering because of it. Just vet-stress would not be enough for me to not do the surgery. If the surgery would be really traumatic, or wouldn''t extend the cat''s life (a quality life) I wouldn''t do it.

Really... there are so many variables, but I''d want my cat to live as long as possible, as healthily as possible. If it was my cat, I''d probably try anything to save it.

Hello ladies,

I''m having a busy day, but I just wanted to check in with you all and update you on my situation. I had the talk with the BF yesterday (he kind of pushed it out) and I told him straight up my thoughts on not being ready for marriage. The look on his face made my heart scrunch up into a ball. =( I know I disappointed him to very great lengths, but I also managed to convince him that I was completely right that this was the best thing not just for me, but for us.

It''s weird that I am not having any sense of relief (except for being glad the talk is done), but I have no sense of regret either. As I anticipated, he already had everything planned out including the day he was going to ask me to marry him. He even told me that he would marry me tomorrow if I''d let him, in his eyes I am his perfect girl.
Gosh... I ruin boys'' lives.

TopoDazzle, I think I read something about your cat and surgery, I just want to give you best wishes and my hopes that everything turns out well for you! I''ve had a German Sheppard go through surgery for cancerous tumour removal before and I understand that it really sucks. (hugs)

well, when her lungs were clean it was a no-brainer, but this is much harder. if its already in her lungs the surgery would be pointless and might even be harmful b/c of how surgery taxes your lungs...

i think it''s meaningful that i got really emotional when I read princesss'' response. it felt like i was reading the voice in my head even tho i want to tell it that its wrong... idk...i hate how many of life''s decisions are like this. as my therapist says, we don''t get the clear choice very often and instead just have to decide and then live with the consequences of our decisions. why is it then that when i look back on my decisions i feel like there were always clear choices?

ah, anyway. its friday.

Thanks Elation, Princess, Ellen and Ckrickett...you guys are a great help and sounding board as always.

and Elation...I think it sounds like you did a good job honoring your own needs. it sucks the bf wasn''t immediately on the same page with you, but in the end, i am sure its for the good. Difficult choices all around.

elation - good for having the talk!

how is everyone else doing this morning?
its friday payday, though my paycheck is this -><- big right now. poo.

I''m 5''2 and I love being short! If a dude is my height or shorter--totally nixed in an instant. The shortest guy I dated was 5''5. And he was the last short guy I dated. Everyone else has been at least 5''7.

My bro is 6''6 and his wife is 5''2. Lol.

Topo--I wouldn''t do the surgery. That''s so much stress to put an older animal through. My dog (he died in Feb at 15.5 years) had a growth on his neck that ruptured, and the resulting infection is what ended up killing him in kind of a round-about way. I really think he died of a broken heart though, because my mom had died in December and she was his life. But he was 15.5 years old, and he had had a wonderful life...it was time to let him go.

I''m sorry you have to make this decision.

thanks for your support with simi as well, jcarly, freke, micska and Big T.

Your mom is really with it on the soda jcarly!! Very cool!!

So much to catch up on...

My DH is 5''9 and I''m 5''4 so it''s usually a good height difference, but when I wear high heels (like I like to do) I''m only very slightly shorter than him and he doesn''t like it. He prefers being a couple inches taller

Topo - I''m sorry about your kitty. Something like this happened with my dog... she was sick and they could have done surgery to make her better but it would have been painful and possibly would not have worked. She was in pain and we didn''t want her to suffer anymore. I''m sorry this is happening

elation - It''s good you had that talk with him. I''m sorry you don''t feel any relief, but it was the right thing to do to discuss it with him.

crickett - good luck!

Ckrickett, good luck!!!
