I love falafel

What the crap is falafel? I thought it was a made up food like Narnia is a made up place.

One of the best foods ever.


Definition: Falafel is a deep fried ball or patty that is made from chick peas or fava beans and spices. It is a vegetarian food, and is considered to be a fast food, often offered by street vendors.

Falafel is served with many types of sauces, including tahini or a falafel hot sauce. It can be served alone, or as in a falafel pita sandwich.

Yeah. I knew I messed up when I did it. I''ve been eating a piece of toast with cheese to go with it (sounds crazy, but it is yummy) but ran out of time this morning.



How would Silken tofu go in a smoothie? (thinking back to the discussion of chocolate pies) I''d like to add the protein without doing dairy. (dairy leaves me sick)




ETA: I know toast with cheese is dairy -- it makes me sick but it is so yummy.

DH and I were watching the show Chopped on the Food Network -- where they give them random ingredients and have them make an app, entree or dessert? -- and one of the ingredients the other night was silken tofu. I was like, ''He needs to make a PIE!!!''

I watched that too!!!! I couldn''t believe he turned it into soup. I thought for sure he''d do a tart shell with the ginger snaps and then do a filling with the tofu.

I love falafel, not supposed to have it because there''s wheat in it, but I caved today because I was SO DAMN HUNGRY!! And I had nothing nearby that would work for lunch. So I''ll suck up the intestinal distress.

WL, when fried they get super yummy and crunchy and even though they''re vegetarian, they have a lot of protein in them so they''re quite filling. I love mine with hummus and tahini.

We make them from scratch and serve with fresh made hummus, cabage, & harrisa. And homemade pita.

How many and how much Elle?

We had 30 people at our wedding - all of which were our "younger" (30 or under) friends. Excluding relatives, we got close to 2000 dollars. With relatives via cards/checks in the mail... somewhere near 3-4000.
