I don''t remember my first CD because my dad had/has a massive music collection and he bought CDs all the time.

I do remember bringing home Dr. Dre''s Chronic album (sometime around 1994), which my father snapped in half right in front of my eyes...

And Clar: I puffy heart Nirvana.
*sniff*
i hurt for you with that one.

First CD: John Michael Montgomery

After that: Toby Keith, Alabama, Little Texas, Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw

Andy Griffith.

Wino- You have no idea how many times I''ve heard that Delaware thing (lived there for 3 years, worked there for 4.5) from Wayne''s World. Its so true though! There is almost nothing remarkable about the state, except that its so close to many huge EC cities- DC, Baltimore, Philly, NYC.

The job I got offered is for a carbon fiber company that has an office just outside of SF (apparently almost in the same town that Neatfreak and Gypsy live in). I would be in CA for at least a year, right next to Livermore (aka petit syrah country!!) and an hour from Napa. Man, it would be heaven! Then they might move me elsewhere, which could be diffficult for DH''s job, but he is supportive.

what do you do ?
I research composite materials- carbon fiber, fiber glass, etc. I am more of a manufacturing scientist than materials scientist but I applied to their research division so I think I''ll make good use of the skillz I''ve built up in grad school.

I have a feeling we will have many visitors during our time out there. We have had loose plans for a trip out there with one of my best girlfriends from college and her husband for 6 months now. Looks like they''ll have a nice cheap place to stay!

Cooooool. My sister''s ex BF''s dad insures celebs and one of his clients was Ms. Love. Obviously she''s a HUGE liability, so Frances was put up as collateral. Scary. As in, you fail at this movie, we''re taking your kid.

mine was hanson in 6th grade
...

you were in the 6th grade when hanson came out?
no i was in 5th grade when their first major album came out apparently, i was just in 6th when i got on the bandwagon (and promptly got teased and never wore their shirt again, my parents were pissed). i was in 8th when y2k happened (so much for getting out of any school because of it), sophomore for 9/11. i''m also the oldest of my friends in town and up til december, the oldest student in my department (i''m ooooooooooout!!!!!!!) in my history gen ed when we talked about where we were for 9/11 my classmates were at recess.

I am a mechanical engineer by degree (and the PhD is in that too) but I suppose due to my interest in composites my knowledge base spreads over a few categories. Most of the grad students that I work with are civil or materials science. Civil mostly because the director of my research center is appointed in that department as well as MSEG.

Congrats on the PhD! Sometimes DH talks about going back for one in MatSci - he works in microelectronics and a good portion of the people he works with have PhDs. I''m trying to get into microelectronics right now, which would be much more within my interests than food like I was doing before (though I don''t think I have a PhD in me

Hmmmmm most of the work they do at this particular branch of the company is for aerospace. For those large airplane manufacturers in the Seattle area and France in particular. My potential employer also makes some finished parts for the company in Seattle.

Bia - we just became besties. AinC is my fave band EVAR! Ya he battled that sh*t forever, really sad. I still loved him though. His voice was like no other.

TP - I''m deathly allergic to country. At Mini''s dentist apt yesterday they had it playing so loud I thought I was going to have to jam pencils in my ears.
