horray! life on the board.
work is soooo slow today, and again, my managers cannot be bothered with keeping their schedules.

I enjoy my manager on a personal level, but sometimes i am sick of the martyr junk she pulls. if you don''t want to start until 630, just say so! i get more offended if they are late every day, rather than just put themselves in later.

i''ve been half tempted to tell her that i need to work a later shift, and that she would have to open, but alas, i am not that mean. Plus i like getting off by 1230 :)

Getting off at 12:30pm would be amazing! But I couldn''t be here earlier enough for that to every happen...me likey my sleep ZzZZZZzzzzZZzZZ...

Hey all!

BF and I are having our closest friends over for a BBQ on Sunday. Nothing fancy. BF said we should announce that we''re getting married to them (even though he hasn''t officially asked me yet!) when they''re over. I''d kinda like to make some dessert that seems celebratory without being too fancy (since we''re just having hamburgers and stuff). Any suggestions?
My favorite cookout dessert is simple and yummy!

I take angel food cake, tear it up into chunks and set aside (1 cake is usually enough). I take one or two packages of strawberry jell-o (depending on how strong you want the strawberry flavor to be) and I mix it according to the package directions. Leaving the jell-o the liquid form, I start adding Cool Whip (has to bee cool whip because of how dense it is). I mix the Cool Whip and Jell-o together until I have a pink fluffy filling. Set aside the filling. Cut up a bunch of fresh straberries into chunks. Add the strawberries to the filling. Then, in a large serving bowl, toss in a chunk of angel food cake and a big spoonfull of filling. Alternate doing this until you have no more cake. Top with any extra filling you may have and whole strawberries (I prefer to fan my out to make them look nicer). Refrigerate until you are ready to serve.

It''s quick. Easy. Inexpensive. I made this for one cook-out and since then, every time I am invited to a cook-out I am always asked to bring this dessert.

aud- yeah getting up at 3 is not a blast. i usually sleep *in* until 3:15, or 3:20 if im feeling randy enough to scream through the house. but it makes sleeping in on the weekends that much better.

KTF- mmm.. can you send some of that to my work please?

boss called in - she said i can sleep in late one of these days without losing hours. that''s a nice treat :)

Dude... on a completely random note, that Special K Protein Water really does help curb hunger! Or at least has a significant placebo effect on me...

I feel unproductive pretty much every day. It''s bad...

I had a *hint* of motivation today so I thought I''d take advantage of it.

Hahah, that''s rough. i just graduated May 2nd so my motivation has been down the toilet the last few weeks. I guess I should enjoy the lax state of things for awhile though because come August it''ll be working full-time by day, going to grad school part-time by night....I don''t even want to think about it.

Ahhh DG I also visited Tiffany''s this weekend. I didn''t try on any engagement rings but did try on a few wedding bands and misc stacking bands. It was fun.

We actually got FI''s band (though not at Tiffany''s) which I am totally super excited about as it is very much him and up until now I felt we would never find anything that spoke to him. Never say never...
OOOOOOH fun fun!

Yes, yes!! Much luck to the FF!

I probably wont be around much for the morning. At work this morning we are going to do gardening. We have plots all over our location and volunteers are in teams to make a pretty garden and at the end of the season, one group will win.

I even got to wear regular clothes into work and I'll change into my fancy office clothes later!

Thanks for the FF job-getting luck audball!

I graduate in 6 weeks, so I am of the mindset that this job I''m currently at is "beneath me." No, I don''t honestly think any job is beneath me, I just feel like since I have a degree, I want to use it. My job is something a trained monkey could do, and I need a challenge. I''m bored, and I want out. Makes it hard to stay motivated.

On the upside, I make pretty good money for what it is, I have health insurance, and jobs security. That''s more than most people can say, so I''m taking solace in that.

Job market isn''t looking good. I brushed up on my resume, and ... eh... it''s rough out there.

It does not travel well, unfortunately. The whole refridgeration aspect

My fav part about this dessert is that you can make it very low cal/low fat because you can control all the ingredients - so I tend to use fat free or sugar free angel cake, with sugar free jell-o and a low fat version of Cool Whip. The natural sugars in the strawberries really help to keep it tasting delicious!

I totally get you there, I hate my job, but it pays well, and well, it is a job. It''s COMPLETELY unrelated to my degree and grad school goals, but I work full time for the university I attend and as long as I''m full time, they''ll pay for me to take 2 classes per semester so I''ll get my grad school education for FREE! And THAT is important enough for me to endure I job that I hate.
