I covered this a month ago - but what the NYT lost was the effect on high quality diamonds - that there will be fewer profitable mines - e.g. Argyle would never have go off the ground when we have $400 a carat 1ct +G VS man made diamonds. Mark my words - within a decade we will.
Here is my post in MMD forum a month ago:

Just read my LGD MMD post Nala and you will get it all.

Did they plagiarize you word per word? Do you plan to take legal action?

Hahahaha, No - they just woke up - but they missed the main points - they just recognised cheap low grade diamonds that flooded the market since 1983 are gone.
but missed the mines will go and high value diamonds will get rarer.

I think a nice email highlighting your copyright would not be a bad thing ;)

Its OK - its obvious - and common sense, but CS is not common!
No need for legal action. Maybe my headline was a bit out there hahahaha

Yeah. Maybe change title— to NYT inspired by my post—esp since they didn’t really emphasize your major key idea—which Makes me wonder why

Plagiarism is a very serious charge. The reporter didn't plagiarize. She interviewed people in the industry who described what was happening and predicted what might happen next. The reporter used her own words to describe the findings from her reporting and analysis. That's not plagiarism. It's journalism. Some of her conclusions are similar to yours because her sources made similar observations and predictions.

I think @Garry H (Cut Nut) was joking when he used the word “plagiarized” (:

Absolutely - please read the article folks - it lines up nicely with my argument that PS quality natural diamonds are going get more expensive - more valuable because fewer mines will be profitable.
Its a real thing.
Sorry for using click bait ;-)
