The Official TTC Thread!

Hi,
Thanks for the feedback guys. (Dreamer - I think we were posting at the same time, when I replied earlier). Yes, I read that Clomid can mess up OPK''s if they''re taken too soon after the last pill. They recommend waiting 3 days until trying OPK''s - which I did, so I don''t think it was the Clomid necessarily.

I''ve read also that ovulation on Clomid usually happens 5-9 days after the last pill - which would make my possible O day CD13. I was totally not looking to O on CD12! DH actually asked if I wanted to BD on CD12 and I told him no, maybe tomorrow!!
39.gif
39.gif

Anyway, I''m still holding out hope that the high temp is because of my cold - and that maybe my O might be a little bit delayed. Sunkist, I agree that tomorrow''s temp will probably tell me more.

Thanks!

Sha even is CD 13 is your O-day, you hit O-2 and that is still a good day! So no matter what, it is possible!

Just stepping in to say "HELLO" to Mandarine. It''s nice to see you around again! How''s newlywed life treating you?

I''ve posted in here a couple of times, but i''m such a total "casual ttc-er" However, i''m going to be stepping it up as we''re officially going to begin TTC next month! it''s finally time to get up on that saddle. Just wish i would''ve gotten the hang of temping. started a couple of times, but didn''t follow through
38.gif

I''ve been off the pill for a year, and have been monitoring my cycles & CM. I''m hoping that info, along with the wonderful knowledge from the ladies here will do the trick!

A huge

to everyone! Sunkist, long time no see!

Festy and Mandarine there''s another one for you! Not "get on the floor" but "get on the saddle" GOS! I hope your stay here is short Chargergrrrl!

Out from lurking for a sec: YAY CHARGER!!!!!!!

Hi Charger! It's good to see you too. I was going through my photos the other day and saw the pics of our OC GTG
1.gif
Congrats for being officially on the TTC train
36.gif
I think if you've been monitoriing CM and you know what's up with that and just BD like crazy when you see the fertile CM come along you'll do great and hopefully you're stay here won't be long. Oh, how exciting the prospect of meeting Baby Charger
9.gif
Best of luck!

Amber, it's great to see you too! I'm always so excited when I see that you've posted
1.gif
Hope all is going well. Do you guys know where you're moving or are you still searching?

eta: uh oh. I just fried my computer charger cable. It started smoking
6.gif
But I unplugged it and all is fine. I should have replaced it sooner cause some wires were showing. oops! I guess that's what I get for being on the computer when I'm supposed to be sleeping and getting better!

Hey Sunkist! Yeah, I''m not really posting much because I''m kind of just sitting here doing nothing! We are still looking, but we''re going to an open house for this great place tomorrow in Mar Vista! I''m super excited. You''re in the OC still? It''s funny because I''ve met Kcoursolle and Charger in person, and that''s all!

Mandarine every woman has a different Basic Infertile Pattern (BIP) for their CF. Some are dry, some are creamy or sticky... it takes time to figure that out! So for you, lots of sticky type may be your infertile pattern--if you had it while on the pill, it is probably not fertile CF since you are not fertile on the pill! It also takes time to figure out what IS your own persoanl fertile CF. One thing that is important to know about EW is that it will NOT break when stretched. You can stretch it and stretch it and it will just get to be a thinner and thinner strand. If it is breaking after an inch or so, than it is eithr sticky or it is semen! Sometimes it is hard to tell semen from true CF. You can do the water test: put the sampl in a glass of water, true CF will ball up and sink whereas semen will sort of disolve off your fingers as you rub them. You can also rub your fingers together after you sample: true EW will stay slippery for a looooong time whereas semen will sort of dry out on your fingers and you rub them. Watery is easier to assess in the panties rather than on the fingers, since how do you see water on your hands?? Round wet patches on panties = watery. and yes, it is normal for it to be apparent extrernally. I still think internal checking is important because *some* CF may get out to the open, but the most important fertile types may only hang out at the cervix. Still, many women can assess CF externally. CF takes a fem months to figure out. You will get there! Plus, if you are getting on the floor EOD anyways it doesn''t matter much whether you correctly assess you CF.

Sha can''t tell from one temp whether you ovulated. Clomid messes up your CF so you also can''t go by that too much, and I *think* I recall it messes up OPKs too? Even if it doesn''t mess up the OPK, lots of women find they never get positives on OPKs so don''t worry, they are confusing. All you can do now is try to BD today and hope you catch it! All this just goes to show how hard it can be to time BD right... that''s partly why I got sucked into the whole every-day thing... I worried so much about skipping a day in case it was ''the day''!
The OPK will not be accurate if you do one while taking the clomid. You should ovulate 5-10 days after the last clomid. My RE said to take the clomid CD 5-9 and then start the OPK on day 12. I''ve only done that for one month but last month it was accurate. I think if you start the OPK too soon then it will mess it up.

Amber,

Hope you have fun at the open house today! We went to an open house just for kicks and that's how we met our realtor. Funny because we ended up buying in the subdivision we met her in. The process is long, but the end is worth it! Have fun!!
9.gif

Charger,

Welcome out of lurkdom! Congrats on going TTC full force. Hope you're here for just a blink of an eye!!

Welcome, Charger! I wouldn''t worry too much if you haven''t fallen in love with temping. (If you''ve been lurking you''ve read me b*itching about it). You probably have a good handle on CM which is just as, if not more important!

DD - yes, I like it! You have to get up on that saddle if you''re going to get on the floor.
41.gif

Hi Amber! Have fiun at the open house! Looking for a house can be so much fun when there''s no pressure.

************

Still negatives on my OPK strips. Not even a light second line. I wonder if these things won''t work for me? I guess time will tell.

We watched the movie Waitress last night...anyone seen it? I thought it was fun and quirky, despite the relatively rosy picture it paints of abusive relationships and infidelity. It also made me hungry for pie!

De-lurking to welcome Charger!!!
35.gif
YAY!!! So happy to see you here and hope you''re stay is a quickie!
36.gif

Amber!!! Great to see you here too - you''ve been missed!
5.gif

Festy - you and I are cycle buddies as I am CD 13 today too!

BTW - I just realized that I need to change my avatar, but I''m being lazy about it.

Yes, that''s right, tiffany. I took Clomid from CD 4-8, and then started the OPK on CD12, so there was definitely enough time in between. Anyway, I''m happy to report that my temp went back down today to pre-O levels!! It was 97.52 (from 98.26 yesterday). So I guess it was the cold messing up my temps, after all. Whew! Sooooo relieved!! Hopefully it''ll soon be time to get on the floor!

Hi Amber!
35.gif

Festy, were your temps more reasonable today? Are you getting any lines on your OPK''s at all? I''ve been getting a very faint second line - some days are fainter than others.

I''m still trying to decide on the OPK thing. Seems like it just adds to the confusion for a lot of people here. Hmm. I also don''t know what day I should start taking them, if I do take them. I have ovulated anywhere from CD20 to CD44. Hm.

***
The sun is finally shining on a weekend in GA (well it did last weekend too, but I had that whole fainting thing). So YAY!! Paul and I are going to a park so I can learn to ride a bike finally. Haha. Here''s hoping the one that''s by our house and fairly secluded stays that way today. Nothing like an adult woman getting pushed around by her husband on a bike. I feel like such a nerd bomber.

Hi Sha, glad to hear your temp went back down today. Mine did too, to the normal pre-O level. Yesterday I had the faintest of faint second line on my OPK. So faint I thought I was imagining it...will try again this afternoon.

Fishie, have fun at the park! You crack me up! Even if anyone does see you learning to ride, they will not think you''re a nerd bomber. (LMAO) They will think it is the cutest thing ever, which it is!

Fisher,
I'm actually really happy to have the OPK's this go-round. It's like another check-and-balance to confirm O, along with fertile cm and temps. I guess each of those signs can be unclear, taken by themselves, but taken all together, they really help give you a clearer picture of when O might be approaching. With temps and cm, for example, I always had a *general* idea of O, but with the OPKs, I feel like I can narrow down the fertile window to the two most important days. So it definitely helps me a lot. Also, when my temps went up yesterday, and I was freaking out at the possibility of a super-early O, I had the blaringly negative OPKS to reassure me that I likely hadn't O'd yet. So that was also helpful. Plus, it definitely helps you time BD better. Without the OPK, I would probably be BDing every day I thougth I was fertile - but because DH and I are not big BDers, I would be worrying about wearing him out of depleting the sperm supply before the critical days. Now I feel like I can time BD for the most important days.

I know it can be tedious to take OPKS in a long cycle, but maybe you can use it to monitor O when you see other fertile signs, like cm, appearing.

Festy, glad to hear your temps are normal again. I hope your eggie drops soon!

I just wanted to jump in and comment about OPKs while using Clomid. You do have to wait a couple days after your last day of Clomid, or you may get a false positive. I took Clomid CD 5-9, and started using OPKs on CD 12. I didn''t get a positive until CD 18, which was 9 days after my last Clomid pill.

Also, I was concerned with OPKs being hard to read, so I shelled out extra money to get the fancy OPKs that give you a smiley face when you have your LH surge. It took the guess work out of it, trying to analyze if the line was dark enough. I wouldn''t reccommend them if you have super long cycles where you have no idea when you will ovulate, since they were like $40 for 7 of them (although I''m sure you could find them cheaper online). But for those of you on Clomid, who have a pretty good idea of when O will happen, I think they are worth it.

Oh, and Hi to everyone posting from the OC! I''m in HB. It''s crazy that you could actually see the people on PS around somewhere and never know who they are.

Hey so cal girl, nice to hear from you. How''s the pregnancy going?
1.gif
Did you get pg that cycle you ovulated on CD18?

Guess who knows how to ride a bike?
9.gif
9.gif

That''s right, I do, I do!!

We were able to find a secluded soccer field and I eventually got it down. Yay for being a bike rider. Haha. I''m wiggly and wobbly still, but I can do it. Yay! Starting off is killer for me, but Paul says it''s not that hard on the pavement or sidewalk, but I wanted to learn on the grass, so if I fell, I wouldn''t be all cut and skinned up. Happily, I didn''t fall, but I did get a little scared a few times and pulled the brakes too abruptly and almost tumbled.

I had always said I wanted to learn to ride a bike before I became a mother and had my kids calling me a nerd ball for not knowing how. So, now I can have a baby. Maybe my timing is finally right now!!

Paul took pictures on my camera phone, and good gosh, why does a bike make butts look *so* very BIG????

Total lurker here, but I had to pop in and say that I really admire you Fisher! I am 38 years old and do not know how to ride a bike. Some people did try to teach me at a picnic once, but there was beer involved and my balance ain''t the best to begin with...
20.gif

Good for you!!!

DeeJay,
9.gif

You *so* should try to learn (you know, sober)! I was *so* nervous and totally felt like a geek having my husband push me around in a public park (not enough flat surface area in our yard, plus the neighbors!!!). It seriously only took about 10 minutes of him telling me how to balance and helping me get down how to push off, then he didn't have to hold on anymore. I'm still a wobbly, goofy looking bike rider, but at least I don't have an adult man running around behind me, holding my seat now.
9.gif

I'm not the most coordinated person, either. I struggle with turns (to the left is much easier than to the right), but they say it's easy to pick up, and it really was for me. I have much learning to do, but I can ride a bike! It's like this thing I've always wanted to do, but was so embarrased about. Once Paul got me a bike for Christmas though, I had to learn or waste a great present.

I totally encourage you to just try it out (you know, without a lot of people around if that helps; that was my main issue and also being worried that I'd crash and go boom)! There's something liberating about learning to do something that you've never learned, but always wanted to learn.
9.gif

I'm like on a high now and if it wasn't dark out, I'd be out wobbling around right now!

Hiya

Anyone ever used an ovulation saliva test? If so, what are your opions on them and do you recommend them?

Po,

I''ve never used the saliva testing, but from what I''ve read and looked into, it''s pretty difficult to discern when you are "ferning" and when you''re not. Some people will show the feathering in their saliva that indicates ovulation and some will not, or not pronounced enough to determine accurately. I had thought about going this route earlier in my TTC venture, since my cycles are not always that predictable. It seemed like the less expensive way to go when you don''t want to take an OPK every day for possibly weeks at a time, but I wasn''t convinced I''d be able to tell when I was ferning or not, so I passed it up.

However, if you go that route, let us know if it works for you. I''m sure it works for some, and maybe it''s just a matter of going through a cycle or two to see what the differences are, paired with charting and checking CM or even doing the OPKs.

Neitehr my mom or MIL know and I know they always wanted to learn. So congratulations on being so courageous!!!! It''s not easy getting up there once you''re an adult, so good for you!. Now just practice, practice, practice!. DH and I have bikes and it''s one of my favorite things to do together (specially if we take them by the beach!).

Amber - Hi!!!!!!

I smiled when I saw your avatar this morning

*********

We had a great weekend! Great because I was able to RELAX!!!. I didn''t make it online on the computer all weekend and for some reason I can''t post from my blackberry (wanted to saty hello to Charger sooner!
9.gif
).

Friday and Sunday I was able to go out running, which is great because last week I didn''t get to the gym as often as I would have liked!. On yesterday''s run (~5.5miles) my right side starting cramping a bit...I started to wonder if that meant anything in terms of ovulation, although my CM is now not as "wet". I think I ovulated more like Friday/Saturday, but who knows. Just to be safe, we GOS every day! (Thu-Sun)...I''m EXHAUSTED!!!. I think we will probably GOF again today and then maybe EOD until Friday ...and then we wait
9.gif

Yesterday I went to lunch with my sisters and nephews, they are so cute but so terrible at the same time!. Every time I''m with them I wonder if we are really ready, then I tell myself it will be a few years before they become little monsters..hehe. My sister is a lot more laid back than I am, so I think that also plays a role in how they behave. Don''t get me wrong, I love them dearly, but man oh man...they are a handful!

I hope everyone has a Happy Monday!!!

M~

Happy Monday ladies!

Charger -- Welcome and I hope your stay here is super short!
1.gif

Fisher -- How wonderful that you learned to ride! That is awesome as most adults would just figure it''s too late to learn. Good for you!
36.gif

Po -- I have never heard of the saliva ovulation test...sorry I couldn''t be of more help. But good luck if you are TTC!

Mandarine -- YAY for relaxing weekends! I''m glad you & DH were able to get lots of BD in. Ahh, the joys of now waiting in the infamous 2WW...
9.gif

Amber -- Hey! Good to see you! Please check in as often as you''d like, we don''t care if you are "just sitting here doing nothing".

********************************************

It''s CD 17 here and no O yet!!! 8 days of fertile CM & counting!
6.gif
I''ve never O''d later than CD17 so we shall see what happens.

Good morning everyone,

InLuv - wow, 8 days of fertile CM. You are hitting the jackpot! Interesting that you haven''t O''d yet...so curious to see what this cycle brings for you. You guys will be KU before you know it, I can feel it!

Mandarine - hi! I''m glad you had a relaxing weekend. I find it''s sometimes a good thing to take a break from posting, even if I miss it. Which I always do! It''s good to give yourself a break. I have had so many moments like the one you had with your nephews! I keep reminding myself that I am in no hurry to make big sweeping changes to the awesome life that DH and I have. When it happens, I''m sure we''ll be ecstatic, but until then, I''m good!

Po - sorry, I can''t help you on the saliva test.

***********************

So, I think I missed a positive on my OPK strips because I didn''t test often enough. I had a super faint line Friday evening and a darker line Saturday evening, that was totally visible but still negative. I assumed that line was a build-up to a positive, but really I think I missed the dark line sometime prior to that on Saturday, because I''m pretty certain that was the day I O''d. I''m just not willing to PIAC every 4 hours.
20.gif
So that''s my story. I think our floor dancing was well timed, so that''s good.
3.gif

Thanks guys. I''m going to give it a try and see how it goes. My cycle is like clockwork so it would be good to pinpoint the fertile period. If this isn''t the way to go, then we''ll try something else.

I''ll let you all know how I get on.

happy charting!

Hi guys,
Festy, re: OPKs, yeah, ''I''ve heard that some women test twice when they''re nearing ovulation. So as not to miss the surge. I''m glad you got some well-timed Bding in!

InLuv, wow, did you do anything different this cycle? Looks like you''ll be O''ing really soon.

Today is CD17 for me, too. Just went to the bathroom and got a positive OPK, yay!! I thought yesterday''s was kinda positive, so we Bd''d, but now I''m kind of wishing we saved it up for today and tomorrow. I hope the swimmers would''ve replenished themselves by now - and that DH is up to Bding again tonight.

Hope everyone else is having a great day!

Sha, the only thing I did differently this cycle is cutting out all liquids but water and increasing the amount of water I''m drinking. I''m actually doing that in order to be healthier and drops some lbs (lost 6 so far, YAY!).

Fingers crossed that I do O soon!

Hi everyone! Thanks for the super nice hellos! Paul and I are deep in the looking for a home mode, which is stressing me out, which is delaying AF, I think. I''m now on CD34- usually I''m 28 days, the most is 31. I''m feeling slightly crampy, but I don''t know if it''s all in my mind. I tested yesterday and it was a BFN, but it''s looking like my chart is slighty triphasic, which is kind of neat!

I just wish I''d hurry up and get either a BFP or my period, because this off-norm cycle is messing with me!
