I''ve decided to back off on posting about this here, hence the deleted posts

Good idea.

I would encourage lurking on this thread more smurfy instead of posting every single time your period is later than usual, different than usual, or if you just have a little hunch. These ladies are amazing and have a wealth of knowledge. Reading a few pages can get you all the answers you need on those days when AF is an hour or two late or isn''t acting like herself.

Sorry my bad I guess

It''s no big deal smurfy and you definitely have a right to post in here. I just think that lurking could help out a lot. I know I''ve learned a lot from reading everyone''s stories so that when I TTC #2 way, way, wayyyyyyyy in the future I feel prepared.

Smurfy, out of anywhere on this forum (well maybe the mommy and pregnant boards), this thread is a place where we support one another. Please stop reading every response as though we''re judging you, we''re not. We''re just a bunch of girlfriends talking about our experiences in the past and trying to help navigate the muddy waters known as TTC/pregnancy/mommyhood.

I know, I just get scared away so easily that I feel that by the time we are actively trying to conceive that I won''t be welcome
7.gif

I second HH and Fiery (wait, can I second two people or would it be third?
3.gif
). I don''t know anyone on these boards IRL and basically jumped into this board as an outsider when DH and I were TTC. This forum really helped me a TON. I found the people here way more informative, realistic and welcoming than any other place on-line - even those dedicated to all things baby and TTC.

well don''t be scared, just do what fiery said and lurk for a bit, or go back 100 pages and read up.

Smurfy- I understand where you are coming from. DH and I "skipped" the TTC part of things, and it is a bit intimidating around here for someone that doesn''t exactly understand all of the temping and CDO, etc... I would guess that, like Fiery said, reading up on all the lingo and such is the best idea, and then start posting when you and your man start to TTC for real.

If I am still around PS when we have our second, then I will be all over this thread trying figure everything out before jumping in. It''s tough and these ladies are hard to keep up with.

Hi everyone, I just wanted to pop in here and say CONGRATS to Allie! I am so happy for you. I know that the first trimester is stressful and scary, but my best advice is to keep a positive attitude. Ditto to what others said, steer clear of baby center and DO NOT sign up for their emails until your 2nd tri. Just try to be hopeful, optimistic, and take good care of yourself. Don''t stress yourself out with negativity because that is not going to help anything. Pregnancy is no joke, my friend. Get ready for a crazy ride!

Thanks Kit and everyone else that replied!!!!! I have definitely been trying to be much more positive. We are so damn happy and looking forward to having our own little October born pumpkin! :) :) :) :)

Cara - Yes, it is so interesting that they were able to test down to that level. Before experiencing this myself, I would not even had known it was possible. I continue to be amazed at the technology available to us. I think my RE routinely requests this testing because it may change his treatment plan going forward. In my case, it did not, but it is still interesting to know why.

Lucy.Lucy - Hey, how are you feeling? Thank you for your comment, and good advice to Allie to stay away from these internets (well, except for here)!! I was glad to see that you'll be at the NYC GTG!!

Swimmer!!!! - I have to say I love to hear from you. You are such a wealth of knowledge, on well, everything it seems!! But, I especially love hearing from you in this thread, since it is near and dear to my heart! Awww.

Anyway, Follistim - I'm glad to hear you liked it so much!! Yesterday, the nurse estimated the out-of-pocket costs for drugs only for one IUI cycle to be $1,500 to $3,000! The starting dose, 2 Follistim 600 iui cartridges, is around $800. (You were at 75? Maybe the pens and cartridges are different?) According to the nurse, some people need up to 5 cartridges, depending on how they respond. They expect I will only need 2 cartridges. You mentioned Ovidrel, which is the trigger shot, similar to Novarel, I believe. I will still do the trigger shot so that ovulation is timed for the IUI. My RE does back-to-back IUIs. So, I would have the trigger shot on a Monday, for example, have an IUI on Tuesday, ovulate about 12 hours after that, and then have another IUI on Wednesday (or about 12 hours after ovulation).

I do think my DH will do the injections if I ask him to. We used to give injectable drugs to one of my greyhounds, who had a neurological disorder. I did the first few injections (needle and syringe), but had a really hard time with it. After that, my DH did everything -- prepared the solution and injected him. I woudln't even be in the room, and my good boy (the greyhound) wouldn't even flinch at it! Anyway, long story short, he would do it, but I might be ok on my own. I think it's fairly easy to administer (no long needles, etc.), right?

When to start? I had blood work and an ultrasound yesterday. I have some nice little follicles right now, but am a ways away from ovulation. It may be 2 - 4 weeks before AF. I tend to think it will be closer to 4 weeks because I used to have a long LP on a natural cycle, and it will probably be at least a week before I ovulate.

Fortunately, I already have two Follistim 600 cartridges. They were ordered in December, in preparation for my first IUI, in case the Clomid did not work. This was under my old insurance, so I paid $40-ish for the two cartridges. It is really funny because I was soooo mad that they ordered all of these drugs for me that I might not ever need to use! Funny now because they are sitting in my fridge all nice and paid for! Love how things always wind up working out in the end . . . well, most of the time anyway. I also have one Novarel because they ship two at a time. So, all of this means that I better get pregnant this time around so I don't have to pay for any unexpected RX expenses with after-tax dollars!!

Hello, everyone. Haven''t dropped by in awhile. Congrats Allie!!!! Go team GOLD!!! So happy to see more BFPs!!!

I had to get the MMR vaccine at Kaiser (administered Jan. 22) and now I have to wait 3 months to see the infertility specialist. Oh well, hopefully the time will pass quickly and you gals will have more BFPs!!!

DH did the Semen Analysis twice (at Kaiser, even though he isn''t a Kaiser member). And both results are less than stellar (the 2nd analysis was a little better). Does anyone have any experience with male factor? Here are his latest results (does anyone know what this means? - Motility 1+, 2+, 3+ 4+)

Spermatozoa Normal Morphology%: 37 (
WBC Count Semen: NORMAL (NORMAL)

Semen Volume: 1.0 (1.9 mL)

Sperm Count: 150 (>19 M/ml)

Spermatozoa Immotile %: 53 (%)

Sperm Motility, 1+ and 2+: 7 (%)

Sperm Motility, 3+: 14 (>25%)

Sperm Motility, 4+: 27 (>25%)

Total Motile Sperm Count: 62 (>59 MILL/SPEC)

2WWs suck!

I'm currently at 11dp today. Was feeling rubbish at the beginning of the week then it stopped...until last night when I had af-type cramps and again this morning. Not going to test until Monday at least if I really, really can't hold off any longer. Bought 2 FR tests, have a CB digical, and those cheapie ebay strip pg tests, so got the hpt's well and truely covered. Don't know if its all in my head but will soon find out, I'd just like to know either way.

I'm off work today, yippeee. DH and I are heading down to London tomorrow morning on the first flight and going to Nobu for lunch (Michelin starred Japanese restaurant), then off to the O2 Arena to see Depeche Mode in concert. Then on Sunday, we're going for lunch to one of Gordon Ramseys restaurant, so I'm excited about that too. We'll have another few hours in London then heading back home on the last flight on Sunday night and then off on Monday too, yay!! So hopefully I'll be too busy to notice and too pre-occupied to care.

Yeah......right.

Hope you are all fine and dandy today ladies!

Po

Hey LAJennifer...I don''t know anything about SA but I wanted to say good luck. Sorry about having to wait three months. Is it because of the MMR Vaccine?

@Po...good luck lady...you definitely have more will power than I did. I started testing at 8DPO hoping to be one of the few that got an early BFP. It didn''t come till 10DPO! So still pretty early. Those FRER are so sensitive that they pick up even trace amounts of HcG. In fact at 10DPO first it was BFN, I went back after the alloted time and there was just the faintest line. I got "pregnant" on the CB digital that night.

Okay ladies. I''m puzzled.

Light spotting started this morning. No cramps. Just a super lower backache. However, I feel as though my hormones are all over the map... I''m getting extremely nauseous to the point of throwing up. These same throwing up episodes happened last month too. W.T.F?!

I don''t believe I''m pregnant. But I would like to know what is happening to my body!! Grr!!

I guess a Dr''s visit is in order...
IHA: You will have to pardon my forgetfulness, but are you recently coming off the pill? I have had some really wonky side effects after coming off it, including high bloodpressure, migranes, and episodes of feeling like I am going to loose my lunch. Perhaps that may have something to do with it (just a thought)?
33.gif
Otherwise, have you gotten to the Dr. yet? Has AF shown up yet or did she hit the same vaca spot that that Bliss and HouMed''s went to?

I hope that you are feel better soon and get some insight into your not feeling good

*****
CoralQuiz: Any updates? We are all eager awaiting another BFP! Fingers crossed...

Steal: Welcome to the TTC ''hood

I hope that you can get your walkway done so you can get to the baby making!

As a side note, your little pumpkin is too cute! I love baby kitties!

*****
LV: That is some really interesting and hopeful insight your RE gave you. That is great that he/she is so proactive with making sure your next bean will stick.

I hope that your next rounds of IUI will be successful and that you will get KU quickly so you won''t have to worry about costs. Good luck!

*****
Allie: I am so excited for your LO! Not that I have ever been KU, but I think the best thing you can do is be calm and keep that happy feeling and then your little bean will be happy too
2.gif
. That being said, I will probably end up doing the same thing as you
20.gif
. I am just that kind of Type A personality who wants to know all the possibilities, etc, and I agree that too much information can sometimes be a bad thing.

*****
Pirate Bliss: Anything exciting happening for you temp wise? What CD are you now? I got my sustained temp shift, so that is good. The only problem is my CF is still WAY off. Apparently, that is a very common issue with people coming off m/c and b/c, so I guess I just have to wait it out. Grr. I am too impatient for that, lol!

*****
LAJennifer: First off, I love the new pic. Yeah for elephants on trampolines
3.gif

As to the sperm count stuff, unfortunately, I don''t have much insight, but hopefully someone on here can shed some light. Otherwise, I know you were not thrilled about the 3 month wait after your MMR, but you are already one month down! You will be ready to TTC via the specialist in no time. Hang in there!

*****
Po: You are a trooper for holding on until Sunday, although no one will blame you if you cave, lol. In the meantime, have a great time in London! I
30.gif
Nobu, enjoy!

LAJenn, I also don''t know what the SA #s mean, except that anything over no swimmers means there is something to work with treatment-wise. Hard news, is your hubs dealing OK? Sorry about the 3 mo delay! What a pain that you don''t even get a consult in that time to explain things, start planning or testing.

Allie, just wanted to say that its a shame your sister couldn''t be more supportive, but try to just chalk her brutal realism up to her prior loss. There is little any woman can do but just cross her fingers and hope at this point in the game, but the odds ARE in your favor for a good outcome!

Hey ladies!

DUST to everyone!
36.gif

dcgator - YAY for your O!!!!!! WOOHOO! On my end...Argh, Matey!!! LOL! I got crosshairs on CD24 (soooo late), but I doubt the validity of that since my temping is so off and wonky! I think we''re out this cycle! Cycles post m/c are hard to figure out... Maybe I was anovulatory this cycle. I wasn''t sure about anything and my CF was no help at all. Bye bye clockwork cycle! Heehee. Now I''m just waiting for AF. Wonder when she''ll show up?

IHA, crossing my fingers for you! Your doctor''s appointment is next week, right? I hope you get a great answer!

LAJennifer -- no help on anything with the sperm analysis. I wish I had my DH''s in front of me to compare. This may sound like a super dumb question, but his analysis had those same > and < signs. I''m very educated so obviously I know about greater than and less than. But in the case of Spermatozoa Normal Morphology%: 37 (<29%), does that mean that "ideal" would be less than 29%, so your DH''s number of 37 is greater? I had trouble reading my DH''s analysis bc of this very confusing point. I know they have "cocktails" that the guys can take...not sure any more about them. I bet you could research and find info on the internet about levels and courses of action. He might have to see a urologist??? Sorry about the 3 month wait...if I remember right, didn''t you say some OB''s said you could just wait one month? I''m sure yours has reason to say to wait 3 months, but maybe this combined with your husband''s results can give you the needed time to get your husband''s swim team stronger!!! Don''t you wish we could have a fast forward button???

Po -- I''m so excited to have you test!!! I wish you luck!!! I wish I could take a weekend trip to London. Ah. Texas isn''t as cool!

LV -- so excited about your progress towards wonderful Aunt Flow!!! I hope you paid the last of your cartridges and that this is it!!!

I''m at CD2 after prometrium and MAN o MAN is this the worst period of my life! I am usually a light bleeder and it''s just bad...i''ll spare details!

dcgator & Bliss, thanks for checking up on me. No, I haven't been on BC for about 5+ years now. So it's not that. I am due to see my Doc this month anyway, so I am going to have them do whatever they need to to figure out what the heck is up.

As for AF, Wednesday started the light spotting. Between then and yesterday, it turned into a more steady light flow. However, as of today, nothing. If this was indeed AF, it's been just like last month: 2 to 2 1/2 days. I can't stress how extremely odd this is for me. Before BC, I was 5-7 full days. On BC, I was 3 days. After BC (for the past 5+ years), I have been 5-7 again. And now, the last 2 cycles have been in the 2 to 2 1/2 range. I don't get it. This is NOT normal for me. Hopefully they are just flukes and everything will straighten out on it's own but I don't know. I can't help but worry.
7.gif

Hope everyone else is doing great. I know a few ladies were in the 2ww, sooooo, what's the deal ladies?! Any babies heading our way?!

Oops - yes that was a typo on my part. I meant to type his result for morphology is 37 with a normal result being >29%. I am looking into some supplements for DH to take. I suppose his analysis could be worse. There are no problems with the sperm count or morphology, he just has low volume with lazy swimmers. I don''t think that will be a problem with IUI, so I''m not that bummed.

LAJennifer, that sounds promising! And you're right - it only takes *one* sperm so you might have incredible results with an IUI. There's a chapter in a fertility book I read a couple of months ago on boosting sperm count/motility. I'll skim it again and post any helpful tips I find in there!

On my end - what a strange morning!
26.gif
I had a ton of leftover OPK tests so I decided to take one for fun today. You have to use them up within a month and I thought I must have ovulated by now. Anyway... I got an immediate, dark positive! GAH! Does that mean I'm going to ovulate again?! So then I thought, "Hmmm... OPKs don't differentiate between LH and HCG, so could the surge be...?" So I tore open a HPT (FRER) knowing that I'm taking it waaaay too early and got a super faint line. Could this mean I *still* have leftover HCG?!
32.gif
But the doctor followed my levels down and that was a month ago. I've had 1 cycle since my m/c. The line is so faint that DH and I can see it only if we're by the window. I'm so confused. Both of us are looking at each other like, "What is going on?" Needless to say, I'm spooked! I guess a doctor's visit is in order. I'll take another HPT tomorrow (or if I can't wait, another tonight) to see what the heck is going on with my body! I don't want another m/c! This is bringing up so many scary feelings for me!

32.gif

Bliss - What cycle day are you? It could not be leftover HCG because you''ve had negative OPKs, right?

(((((((((((((((BLISS))))))))))))))))) I am so sorry that your body is being confusing right now!!! Definitely take another HPT tomorrow and go see Dr. Kind and Nerdy ASAP:-) What day are you on of your cycle? Since the Dr followed your HCG down and you already had one cycle I doubt that it''s leftover HCG from your miscarriage. My guess is evaporation line, defective test (I had one of these
38.gif
), or BFP. I know this is really scary and stressful, hope that it all becomes obvious ASAP!!!!

I''m about to open my first box of OPKs, hopefully I can tell what''s going on for me. I think I am turning into a POAS addict:-)

BIG HUGS!

LV! Thanks for the reality check! You're right. It can't be leftover HCG causing the spike on the OPK since I've been testing negative for the past few days. Thanks for deducing that because it eliminates one possibility. In my panicked state, I didn't even think of that! I love you smart PS ladies! (hugs) Maybe I am ovulating again or my body is trying to do so??? Boy, they warned me that post m/c cycles would be crazy but I had no idea!

I'm CD 28. Don't think I'm pregnant at all. Just frustrated that I'm getting ghost lines on FRER HPTs because that indicates I still have HCG in my system for some reason. I stopped testing on HPTs after my m/c after my doctor told me I was basically negative for HCG on blood tests. Ah well, I hope my experiences help you ladies who are also going through wacky post m/c cycles! Maybe if I had kept on testing, I'd know this ghost line is just something that has been lingering for a while.

BELLA!!! Awwww, thanks. I think I do need to go see Dr. Kind & Nerdy! I'm CD28, but I can't tell anything from it since I typically have longer cycles and this one has been sooooo crazy. I just took another FRER with dilute pee and I got a super faint line again. So I have a super low level of HCG for some reason. I'll let things build up and try again, maybe tomorrow to see if I get another faint line or not at all.
34.gif
On another note, how exciting that you are opening your first box of OPKs!!! What kind are they? Wooooooooohooo!!!! So excited for you!

Aw Bliss!!!!!!

I got Answers OPK and today is CD 8. I started today since my cycles have been 26-30 days over the past two months I''m not sure what to expect...

Anyway, big fat negative on the OPK, everything but the control line was totally one color.

Bliss- Ugh darn confusing body! Well, I think your body is going to get everything worked out and things will be much more predictible SOON.

Allie- Hope all is well with your sticky bean!

Po- Sounds like a lovely weekend you have planned! Hope you get some good news, too.

Lanie- I really hope clomid does the trick for you. If my cycles continue like this, clomid may start calling my name!

Bella- Keep us updated on how the OPKs work out for you.

I''ve been trying not to read here quite as much b/c it makes me more nutso
20.gif
Anyway, CD 40 over here with still no ovulation in sight. Oh well!

Oh Ice,

I am sorry for the uber long cycle!!!! that sucks!!!!!!!!

What is up??? it''s like AF and her crazy cousin "O" (who I picture sort of like Cletus the slack jawed yokel from the Simpsons) are having some sort of redneck BBQ and just can''t be bothered to stay on schedule...What is up with that?!?!?!?!?!?

bliss, is it possible you are preggo? what''s your chart look like this month? i''d just brace yourself! hopefully its nothing scary in finishing miscarriage land, but if your doc followed your levels back to zero that seems unlikely. do you know what hcg level was your lowest during that phase?

Oh Ice,

I am sorry for the uber long cycle!!!! that sucks!!!!!!!!

Who knows what is going on! Since I started med school, my cycles HAVE been unpredictable. However, I don''t think I''ve been THAT stressed lately. There is nothing I can do anyway. Maybe eventually O will arrive super late. I wish O would kick AF''s butt, though!

Hey Ladies, just wanted to check in and see how everyone's doing! Like you, icekid, I've been MIA a bit as I find I can get too wrapped up in this thread, especially as we're not officially trying yet.

Icekid, sorry to hear about the long cycle. :-(

Bliss, I hope you get some relief soon from all the confusion that is going on. It must be totally frustrating.

Anyone taking prenatal vitamins already? If yes, what brand?

For everyone who gave me their thoughts on newborns and one-bedrooms, thank you! We really like our apartment and its location and prefer not to move yet if we don't have to.

Technically, we're in the 2WW but since we 'pulled and prayed' I'm not holding too much hope for us but for everyone else in the 2WW, I'm pulling for you!

Bliss - I''ve been thinking about you and am thinking the same as Cara. Is it possible? Maybe you ovulated much sooner? Before the OPKs came into the picture? I''m sorry this is so confusing. Hoping the next HPTs shed more light.
