The Official TTC Thread!

I don''t post too much here, but I thought I would to ask about my mysterious lack there of menstural cycle this month and get your input. I had a m/c in December and since then I have had regular 25 day cycle lengths with a 2-3 days of menstruation. This month, no AF, my cycle is presently 7 days late. I POAS a bunch a of times including 5 minutes ago and keep getting BPN. I also don''t "feel" pregnant, not one bit.....
Any thoughts?

KTF - I didn''t want to say it at first, but Charbie already did. that sounds like my list of pharmacy shopping after my m/c. the HPT was to track the HCG level going down and the condoms were to prevent getting knocked up too soon. hopefully, no ladies here will ever have to do such shopping.

Po - I wish I had the right words to make you feel better. you have been so incredibly patient and I really hope this cycle is it for you.

luvinlife - I think you need to see your doctor and get a blood test done.

I feel like a jerk. I honestly had no idea those supplies could have indicated such a negative situation. I am very sorry if I offended anyone.

I have a question for you ladies. Since I''ve gone off the pill, I''ve had an amazingly regular cycle. Almost all have been 28 days, with the rare 29 or 30 day cycle thrown in the mix. Between temping and OPK tests, I usually ovulate between CD 18 & 19. Is this considered late? And will it make TTC a little more challenging?

No way! Nothing to worry about. That''s a 10 day LP, which sounds super scary but is actually okay. I have a 10 day LP as well with a 26 day cycle so I know exactly how you feel. I even took a B-50 complex for a few cycles hoping to lengthen my LP by a few days, but it never did. Just know that a true LP defect is actually quite rare. I think I read somewhere that ovulation isn''t considered "late" until after cd20.

Hope that helps!

Oh, KTF: no worries!! I wasn''t offended at all, just wanted to explain what it could have been for. Like I said, I felt like a tool buying my "supplies" bc I figured they must have been thinking, "what is this girl doing??" I kept thinking, "they are going to think I''m getting an abortion bc I have a script for cytotec AND the pill."

Thanks Charbie - I felt terrible after seeing you and Noelwr''s posts. I am so thankful for this forum, I am learning so many things. I do not have any friends IRL who are TTC and almost all of the ones who do have children were jerkstores. The last thing I would ever want to do here is to offend any other posters.

I''m on my phone so I can''t edit: I''m not trying to offend anyone with the abortion comment either! I just had been upset whenever I researched the cytotec and so much of the info said, "the abortion pill." And this wasn''t an elective abortion. if I had ever needed to go through something like that, id want more privacy than a prescription at a pharmacy, if that makes sense.

I had RIDICULOUS cramping this morning and a strange feeling in the middle of my stomach I''ve never felt before. Today is 9dpo
All I''ve got to say for now :)

KTF - don't worry. You clearly didn't mean any harm by it. Ask away - I was on pills for 3 years, the patch for 2 years and most recently on Nuva Ring for 4 years... that's a lot of hormonal manipulation so my issues aren't too surprising. Sorry your temps don't reflect a pregnancy outcome
7.gif
But I really hope you are one of the lucky majority that get back on track within the first few cycles.

Po - very well said... This process is not for the faint of heart and it is impressive to see so many women deal with the disappointment and move forward cycle after cycle. I am sorry your having doubts, time will tell but we are all very hopeful for you. Being around family definitely can hit home as to how much you want to expand your family and I am glad you can vent those feelings here. It's also hard when your DH wants it as badly as you do... although you are in it together, it can add to the sense of hope/dread/excitement/disappointment.

luvinlife - so sorry to hear about your m/c. Anything out of the ordinary this cycle? stress? strenuous exercise? If not, maybe it's just a wonky cycle, although admittedly it's strange after you ahve had regular ones post-m/c. Do you know when you Oed? Was that late?

PT - sounds right on track to me... the fact you are so regular should help the process. I agree with Kunzite, I think late O is after CD20. Have you started TTC or just are wondering for the future?

IHA - I don't blame you... good luck with your journey.

Bliss - thanks for the thoughts... and the name of your OB. I am in NYC. As for the "shot" to bring on your period, I am not sure. They can give me a prescription for provera (or similar drug) to mimic raised progesterone. Once you finish the prescription the drop in progesterone should bring on AF. I went off the pill in September and I have had 2 period - both from provera. So yeah, they can bring it on - what they haven't been able to really figure out is why it's taking so long for my reproductive system to reboot. They say it could just be a matter of time, but when you have baby-brain patience is hard to come by. How are YOU? Lots of sticky dust coming your way.

Allie - I feel you. My friend just had her 3 IUI cancelled due to her lining being too thin as a result of the clomid. They have been trying for over a year (not 4 by any means) but it's hard to watch people you care about get their hopes up (whether they want to or not) only to be let down. It must be hard on you being preggers but it sounds like you are a good friend. She is very fortunately your company pays for 2 IVFs. Fingers crossed that works for her.

Catluver - thanks for the encouragement... sorry AF reared her ugly head. Sounds like you have good perspective on things but it's always hard to realize that this cycle is not THE cycle.

lili - thanks for the AF dust :)

Smurfy - sounds promising. Sounds like it's time to chow down on some pineapple core.

Had a fun date night with the hubs... gotta appreciate this care-free time while we have it

Kunzite & RC - thank you for replying. It helps that nothing seems out of the ordinary. We''ve been trying for 10 months now.

I''ve been feeling a little more impatient than usual...just celebrated my 34th last month, and we''d like at least 2 children. If nothing happens by the time we''ve been trying a full year, my husband and I will probably make appointments to make sure everything is in "working order." In the mean time, we''ve got a vacation to look forward to. We''ll be celebrating our anniversary on the Big Island next month!

Hi parrot tulips! It''s not so much that ovulation is late, but it indicates your luteal phase might not be long enough. In the books I''ve read, they say lthe luteal phase should be at least 12 days ideally. If you''re Oing on CD 18 or 19, with a 28 day cycle, that''s only a 9 or 10 day luteal phase. For some people this may not be a problem; for others it could be.

Thanks, I had some pineapple with my stir fry tonight!!!

Also a dear cousin of mine down in South America is casually TTC. They are the sweetest couple and run a local missionary school for the children there; I know they would make great parents!! So any dust you have to send down south would be great :)

I don''t know where to post this. I don''t really want to start a new thread, and I know all you ladies are very knowledgeable, so maybe I can post it here...

So I normally just lurk here, and I would imagine that probably has to do with why my imagination is running away with me right now. I''ve been on the pill because DH and I don''t plan on TTC until late next year (as much as I would love to earlier than that, it''s just not in the plans right now). A couple months ago my doctor told me I could start taking two pill packs back-to-back if I wanted to in order to avoid having my period each month (this way I get it every other month). So I started doing that and liked it. Everything was normal when I got my period, the only difference was that I got it every other month rather than every month. So great, no problems.

I was scheduled to get my period this past Wednesday. Usually, like clockwork, it comes in the early morning. This time it didn''t start until late afternoon. Usually it lasts for 5 days. This time it was very light for around a day (maybe even less) and since then I''ve pretty much had no bleeding (occasionally a *tiny* bit, more like spotting, but for the most part nothing). I''ve been pretty nauseous the last couple days, but now I''m wondering if I''m talking myself into it because the weird period is making me nervous that I could be pregnant.

I''ve been pretty consistent with taking my pills on time, so logically there''s no reason I would be pregnant. I just am confused by the lack of a normal period when I''ve never had that before. But then again, there was SOME blood, so does that mean I *can''t* be pregnant?

I have a pregnancy test. It''s funny how the more you think about it, the more your imagination can run away with you ("I feel nauseous, maybe it''s morning sickness, I have to pee, am I peeing more than usual?" etc...) I guess I''ll take the test tomorrow, but I assume it''ll say no...

Good luck to all you ladies on your TTC journeys!!

Hi Lilac, you said you''ve been taking your pill religiously but if you''ve had an upset tummy at all in the last month or taken any antibiotices then both can have an adverse affect on the pills protection and its just coincidental that you''ve ov during this window. The short af could be implantation bleeding rather than a period OR........you''ve just had a blip this month. Go test with fmu and see how it goes, the best laid plans eh? (pardon the pun)...good luck!!

Sooo, all you expert tempers out there I need you''re help. I have a normal body temp of 96.98F. Over the last few days its been 96.44 down to 95.18 and today it''s now up to 97.88. I''m taking it that this is a good sign if my temp stays elevated, yeah? I was starting to get worried as my temps were staying low, I was a full degree below my normal temp. I''ve been slowly talking myself out of being pregnant so that I''m not too disappointed but it will be what it will be I guess. I''m just interested to know the temp pattern of those who''ve had a bfp.

Blimey, I''m dogtired.

KTF - you didn''t offend me either. I''m actually happy that most ladies wouldn''t know what such a shopping spree is for.

Lilac - I would say highly unlikely you are preggers. how long have you been changing you "cycle lengths"? if this is only your 2nd time taking 2 cycles in a row, then maybe your body is just getting used to it. some good news for the future: just wanted to let you know that I used to take them 3 cycles in a row and when I was ready to TTC and stopped, in no time I was ovulating again. some women worry that it will take some time for their bodies to normalize. of course also depends on what type of pill you take and your body.

Po10472 - Thanks for the advice - I always get nervous when I get sick on the pill because I have some friends who got pregnant that way (when their pill wasn't as effective because they were sick/taking antibiotics). I wasn't sick this past month but I do take an antibiotic every time DH and I DTD in order to avoid UTIs. So the worry is always there that those will affect the effectiveness of the pill.

noelwr - Thanks so much. I do worry often about coming off the pill and not being able to conceive (despite the reassurances of my doctor over and over again that I shouldn't worry so much). I just always have this general panic feeling inside that I won't be able to get pregnant one day. I guess I won't know what will happen for myself until we actually TTC, but I am happy you told me you began ovulating right away after you stopped taking the pill.

I tested this morning when I woke up and the test was negative. It's interesting how even though DH and I are not TTC, seeing the "not pregnant" come up is still disappointing. Something like this happened a year or so ago and it was a relief to find out I wasn't pregnant, but today my first thought was that I was a little sad. Maybe I'm more ready than I thought I was. I think DH started to think about it too because he kept telling me how happy he would be if I was pregnant, even if it wasn't "planned". So maybe he's more ready than I thought he was also.

Anyway, I guess it was just a weird cycle and I guess I've just been feeling sick lately for other reasons. Thanks so much for the advice, and good luck to you!!

Lilac-I think you are probably fine a lot of poeple''s bodies have some issues adjusting to back to back pill packs. But, you can definitely Pee on a stick to check! (and I would just to be sure)

Bella - I just took the test and it was negative (I think we posted at the same time). I guess it''s good to be sure now, but I feel a little sad. You''re probably right and my body is just adjusting to the back to back pill packs. Thanks and good luck to you!

Good morning friends! It''s my one glorious day off this week, and I am feeling good after sleeping in!! :) Also feeling good about something else...my temp skyrocketed this morning!! 10 dpo today...

So, of course, being the peeonastick-aholic that I am, I pulled out a Wondfo and went for it...and I''m pretty sure it''s an early BFP!!!

Once my line gets a little darker I think I''ll mosey on over and join you ladies in the just barely preggo thread!! hehehe!

Dcgator...you''re 9 dpo today....any new symptoms to report?? testing yet?? I sooooo hope this is the month for you too! Remember how we said we were gonna get preggo together this month???

Bella -

RyanClaire - sorry you''re STILL waiting on AF. I''m glad you''ve got your appts with OB and RE set up....hopefully a little medicine tweak and you''ll be off to the races!! :) Remember, Lanie had trouble with some long and/or anovulatory cycles, and once she got the meds to kick that egg outta her ovary, she was all set and got preggo fast!! :) I''m glad you got to enjoy date night with the hubs!!

Bliss - I guess your feeling was right!! hehe! It''s funny, I felt SOOOO much more pregnant last cycle, and didn''t feel hardly anything this cycle....weird! I DID have some dull cramping yesterday and the day before, though. I''m so excited that we get to be preggo together again!!
9.gif

Lili - thanks for the good luck! I think it may have worked!!

Allie - so sorry to hear that it didn''t work out for your friend.
7.gif
I wish them the best as they head toward IVF.

CatLuver - yes, do try the instead cups next cycle!! I really liked them this cycle for the no-mess factor, and it seems as though they may have helped me get preggo!!! Gooooood luck....hoping for a Valentine''s baby for you!!

Po - I am sorry you were feeling down yesterday. Your post was so thoughtful, I really appreciate what you said about the strength and tenacity us TTC''ers have! Keep your eyes on the prize, my friend...you''re right, the reward will be soooo sweet when we finaly get there.

Inhisarms17 - good luck with this new cycle!! Sending dust your way!

Luvinlife - hmmmm....interesting. Have you been charting this month? If so, can I see your chart?

KeepingTheFaith - don''t worry, dear. We know you weren''t being a jerk!! :) I just hope none of us here has to go through buying those products all together again or at all...once is one time too many.

Smurfy - I had cramping yesterday and the day before (8 and 9 dpo) and got a faint bfp today....could be a good sign!!
9.gif
Good luck!!

Lilac - I''m sorry you were bummed about your "surprise" BFN. Look at it this way...maybe this situation is what needed to happen for you and DH to realize that you''re more ready than you think!
