The Official TTC Thread!

Lily - you may not be out of the game officially yet. Those digitals are awesome inventions - I too have problems seeing lines!

Wells - Congrats!

Bliss - we need guidelines for us ladies who are allergic to both pineapple and nuts! I've never felt like I was missing out on pineapple before now...

Bella - Crossing my fingers for you!!! Hope the 2WW is being kind to you.

So my cycle is completely crazy!

According to my continued lack of AF I am at CD40 BUT last week I had a generous amount of EWCM which prompted me to test with an OPK and gave me what I am pretty sure was a positive. However, I used a generic stick OPK which required that you compare your colors - and I am just a failure at that simple task. Either way, we BDed because who's it gonna hurt, right?

I'm not sure what's up with my cycle but in order to keep my mind off of things I am researching masters programs. If TTC can take an undefined length of time, I might as well be active about not putting the rest of my life on hold.

Thanks everybody. I would''ve loved to have gotten a "Pregnant" result, but it''s just not meant to be this month.

Bummer Lily

HOWEVER, I REALLY dont think you are out yet. If your original stick was 25 and a digi is 50, and you need more concentrated urine (like in your bladder for 5 hrs, I have heard) AND you didnt get much pee? Def. test again in the AM and I would use a cup. BTW I dont think I ever said welcome! Excited to have you here!

------

Been so MIA and behind, house hunting and sick FIL and whatnot, but I have a question....anyone whos O was delayed by stress, how much was it delayed?? I am CD 28 today, last month I had a 27 day cycle with spotting on 26. I figured my O was delayed, since I didnt temp, but because of the craziness that was the week before O, but I am not sure how many days stress can push it back? Any thoughts?

Dust to everyone! Back later hopefully for a more thorough response to you all.

Lily- So sorry about the digital test, your results sounded so similiar to mine. I also didn't take the digital test until the next day, so if AF doesn't come in a few days I would try again.

Ladies- Thanks so much for your congrats! It hasn't really sunk in that I am indeed pregnant. We were planning on starting in 2 or 3 months, so it' not a huge deal, I just never expected it to happen so fast. I still POAS a few times during the week to make sure that I didn't get false positives. I'm super paranoid as according to FF (and this could be off) I ovulated on CD 19, but we only BD (the kind that would count, sorry if TMI
31.gif
) on CD 15, but I got my first positive OPK on CD 17, so who knows. FF may be off cause it moved my O date once, and I don't have anything to compare it to as this was the first month I began temping. I was making sure I ovulated and get a hold of my cycles as I have been on BC since I was 18 (I'm 32 now).

I was hoping to be around here more. I've been lurking for months, but never really was "trying" so instead I used all of your knowledge to get ready. I guess it worked! Now, the waiting game until the doctor's appointment and waiting to get through the first tri so I can start telling people.

Yikes!

Congrats Wellinism!

Lily... don''t give up hope yet. To echo the others, you will be fine if you decide to have a cocktail or two this weekend. I am a bit superstitious so I would likely have a glass of or something rather than abstaining so as not to jinx something!

Miscka - Thank you! I will definitely test in a few days with a digi test if AF doesn''t come.

wellinsm - Congratulations! Sounds exciting!

modernsparkler - I know what you mean about being a bit superstitious. I felt comftorable last night having a few beers

The digital test said Not Pregnant. TMI: I didn''t get a lot of pee on the stick. Regardless, as of now I will consider myself not KTFU
LF, I am sorry to hear about the BFN, but like others said, it might just be too early. I hope that AF keeps away and that you will get some more positive results in a couple days. Fingers still crossed for you girly!

KTF: Sorry for the wonky cycles and such. What a PITA. But, it was pretty smart of you to test with an OPK and try BD''ing again. Although, just to throw it out there, you can have some fertile type CF if you are KU, and depending how far along you are, some OPK''s can pick up pregnancy. Sorry to add to the confusion, but I thought I would just let you know.

That being said, are you planning on POAS with an HPT anytime soon, or are you just going to keep waiting? And if so, my goodness, you are the most patient person I have ever met!

Getting KU w/out even really trying defintely makes you a jerkstore! How long have you been off BC or was this the first month? I wish you LOADS of sticky dust! When is your Dr. appt scheduled for?

And might I add that you are the 6th lady to get KU this month. So, that makes this a record month with 6 ladies KU.

Not too shabby odds over here for the rest of us ...

WOW KTF-Have you POAS? You are super patient!!!

Hi there ladies! Got room for 1 more TTC hopeful?? Long time PS lurker (especially on this thread) here
35.gif

DH & I will celebrate 2 yrs of marriage in July and are ready to give TTC a whirl! He is 32 & I am 27 and we have no children. I'm super excited...I've never been on hormonal BC so no issues there thankfully. I'm familiar with charting as I've been charting while TTA along with using condoms since we got married.

Switching gears seems like such a huge decision but we're both excited!

Any advice for remaining patient through this process??

Thanks so much! I stopped taking BC in December, and started tracking how long my cycles were, which ranged from 1 15 day cycle (right when I stopped taking the pill) to 34 days, with an average of 31 days. I started temping this month to ensure I was ovulating etc. My Dr. appointment is on Monday, June 7th. Mostly blood work and talking with the doctor about what I can and cannot do. I''m not expecting anything else, I will only be able about 6 weeks at that point. I don''t want to have a US, to just not see ANYTHING and freak myself out.

Thanks for your good wishes. And I hope this next cycle goes well for you!

Sooooooo, they didn''t find a doctor to make up for the canceled appointment, but they found one to order the Cycle day 3 test. My appointment was rescheduled for June 28th

Just got my results:

FSH - 6
Estradiol - 40

Whatever that means.

That is GREAT!!! You are sitting pretty. You want FSH to be below 9 generally. And estradiol to be below 70.

Follow up on the salt baklava disaster...

I went there today and was like is this batch ok b/c there was this issue earlier this week...they were like we know it was horrible, che made a mistake we are so sorry. They charged me like a dollar more than normal but gave me three pieces instead of one and kept saying they were sorry.

At first I was like
33.gif
but now that I just finished my second piece of baklava I am in a sugar and butter coma so I am like

I''m saving the last piece for tomorrow.

And Bliss, since it''s walnut bakalava I guess that''s a good thing right??!?!?! Like it''s actually good for me

DC and Bella - I actually POAS last Thursday because that is what FF told me to do. It was a BFN, which I expected. I am unsure when I will test again. I do have sore BB''s but again, that is usually a sign of AF heading my way and if I did O last Thursday AF should be on her way. If anything I''d test again next Friday as that would technically close out the 2 WW from when I got a positive OPK. I suspect that while I may have had an LH surge, my egg may not have released.

Truthfully, I just don''t feel it.

I think my body is having a difficult time adapting to being off BC and that''s expected and I am absolutely okay with my body needing time.

I feel like patience is the only emotion I can have. I may just be one of those ladies who does need a significant amount of time for my body to regulate again. I am an incredibly patient person especially when I recognize I can not control the situation. So maybe next week I will test - maybe not. I guess I have myself believing that we aren''t in the race until I actually see AF re-appear.

Smurfy...I can completely identify with your confusion over whether or not to keep trying...we found out recently that DH''s parents might be getting divorced. Timing certainly sucks. My advice is just go for it when its comfortable for you.

Lilyfoot...I wouldn''t give up yet!

Wellinsm--Congratulations, may your bean be sticky!

Welcome, ImperfectGirl! Love the puppy in your avatar!

I''m currently on CD22. So far have been very good in resisting the urge to POAS. Actually, it hasn''t been too hard. I''ve been so busy with unpacking from our move, and the news from DH''s parents has kept us preoccupied, too. Saw my waxer today, and she thinks I could be pregnant. Guess she has a pretty good record on guessing with her clients.
2.gif
DH''s birthday is the 5th, so am trying to wait till right before that to test. I am feeling pretty chill about it all right now. We''ll see if that lasts till next weekend!

Thanks, Laila. Well, that''s good news. Do you think they will still give me Clomid? I just turned 37.

Hi everyone - sorry I have not been able to reply to everyone for awhile; work has been super busy.

I wanted to report on my experience w/the Instead cups...for you ladies who used them successfully, props to you!!!
However, for me they were somewhat of a debacle. They are so much more thick and rigid (the ring part) than I expected. The first night, I managed to get it in, but it was positioned kind of slanted. Since it naturally pops open and you have to squeeze it to insert, once you partially insert it, it pops open inside and gets kind of stuck, so pushing it in any more is difficult and downright painful! And since you have to insert it straight in (so it''s "up/down"), once it pops open inside, it''s really hard to rotate so it faces "side to side." The picture on the box did not help. By the time I got it in, I think my cervix was shoved out of place. But at least I got it in the first night. The second night, as I was trying to rotate it after it was partially in, I caused practically everything to spill out!!! What a waste!!! Well, I think I am done with them. I don''t know how you ladies managed to get them in place, maybe I am freakishly small or something. To add insult to injury, when I took it out the next morning after the first night, I spilled on the floor, stepped on it with my foot and nearly fell down. Then I had to clean my foot. LOL. Funny, in a sad and gross kind of way!

Oh well - it might not have mattered anyway since it looks like I have delayed O this cycle. I O''d on day 14 the past 2 cycles and today is day 14 and I still didn''t get a positive OPK. Not sure why because this cycle I am much less stressed than I was the previous 2. So I''ll just keep trying a couple more days and hope it works!!!

dcgator - I''m so sorry about what you went through last cycle. The roller coaster of emotions is just cruel. I hope you have good luck this cycle.
Po - I''m sorry you had to go through that too. Hope all is well.

Hey Gorgeous Ladies!

Yay for those of you in the 2WW!!!! Sending major dust and positive vibes for your eggies! I'm so sorry I can't remember exactly who asked about the Dr. Oz book in which he writes about walnuts being good for implantation/heart health/etc. Dcgator? Hugs! Anyway, it was someone I liked enough to go dig up the book and thumb through it until I could find the fertilization related passages. It's called: YOU The Owner's Manual: An Insider's Guide to the Body That Will Make You Healthier and Younger. I'm only assuming that it's his newest book - we got it in the swag at a gala he was honored at a couple of weeks ago. So I'm just assuming it's his latest but who knows???

Anyway, he writes:
"Folate (800 mcg a day) and the B vitamins in the RDA amounts - as well as 3 daily grams of omega-3 fatty acids and 15 mg of zinc - have been shown to help increase fertility as well as by improving sperm mobility and by improving the hospitality of the uterus toward the implantation of the egg. Finally, good ole vitamin C also will increase sperm motility, which might prove useful, depending on whether you want more kids in your life."

And I know we hate to hear this (because in my case, it only serves to stress me out further)... but he also writes:
"Stress - specifically stress from not being able to get pregnant - makes fertility even more difficult. While reducing stress, deep breathing and other medications we talk about can help, most infertility treatments are designed to make the sperm stronger or more plentiful, or to make the female swimming pool more hospitable, or to circumvent those blockages, like in vitro fertilization..."

Interesting book overall. Throughout the book, he extols the virtues of walnuts and says we should eat a handful a day - citing it as a great source of omega-3 fatty acids for several health benefits that he mentions.

Someone also asked about pineapple + core and being allergic to it? I looked it up for you (sorry, bad with memory these days!) and found that the active ingredient cited for aiding in implantation is bromelain. Sadly, it seems to only occur naturally in ripe pineapples. But then I looked it up and some women use it in pill form (extract) to help during IVF and for digestion issues. I did NOT look up side effects or risks of it, so please be sure to ask your doctor or do more research before even thinking about using bromelain extract! Most sites I saw said that it's best taken in natural form (pineapple)... Hope that helps!!!!!

BIG BIG HUGS TO MY TTC SISTERS!!!!!

LOTS OF DUST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
35.gif

Steal, Charbie, HouMG, Geri, DCgator - thanks for all the positive and supportive messages. I appreciate it.

Bella - sounds like you are on your way. Enjoy all the pineapple core and walnut sundaes that you can :)

DCgator - sorry about the arrival of AF last week... hope you are gearing up this new cycle though. I did go ahead with things and now it''s up to the fertility gods. I am hoping this will both of our months!

Smurfy - sorry to hear of the family drama... I think you have to go with your gut. But like everyone said - there is rarely an ideal time to get knocked up.

Welcome Brooks! I have long cycles as a result of coming off BC. I would definitely talk about things with your doctor so that they can begin some diagnostics... Hopefully it''s nothing, but if not you will be closer to a solution.

LAJenn - so sorry to hear about your experience. What a nightmare! You finally were reading for the next step and this delay must be so frustrating. I am sorry they don''t seem more empathetic... I don''t get that - it''s a fertility clinic for godsake!

lilyfoot - so sorry that your digi didn''t confirm a pregnant verdict yet... maybe in a few days. Lots of dust!

Wellinsm - CONGRATS! What great news. I hope you are enjoying your secret.

KTF - sounds like it was definitely late ovulation... glad you covered your bases. What kind of masters programs are you looking at? I think it''s great to keep planning your life - it helps you feel like everything is not dictated by the quest for BFP. I found planning a vacation did the trick for me :)

Miscka - sorry I don''t have an answer for you in re: stress delayed Os but just wanted to say good luck and hopefully things will be back on track next cycle. Or perhaps you won''t need a next cycle... fingers crossed.

Imperfect - Welcome and good luck! You sound like you are ahead of the game without having to worry about BC or learning the art of charting.

Amandine - hope you have great news for your DH''s birthday. So sorry to hear about your DH''s parents.

Catluver - just think about the millions and millions of women who got preggers without instead cups! Sorry they did not work for you. Your story did make me smile though... TTC is just a weird, intimate process... glad we can share these things here.

Bliss you are so sweet to be doing research for us. I really appreciate you popping back over here to cheer us all on.

Goodbye CD89 - Hello CD1.

So the provera did it''s job and we are on CD1... I will start 100mg clomid (unmonitored) on CD3. I will be on vacation from CD9-CD15. My RE appointment is set for CD22. I am not super hopeful, but as much as you try to manage expectations it is impossible not to let a little hope in... she just finds a way to sneak up on you :) Of course worry and "what ifs" come along for the ride too, but that is just part of this strange journey.

Good luck to everyone in the 2ww!

TGIF - Have a nice long weekend everyone.

I am going to post this really small b/c I don''t want to be an overanalyzing nervous nelly, and I''m only posting b/c I know this thread will disappear...but I might be having SYMPTOMS....

I''ve had some weird stuff since CD 2 (including what felt like mild but persistant pain kind of near my ovary, but not quite that started higher and worked its way lower over the course of a few days, and on CD 3 I had the same kind of hormonal migraine with poo parlor problems that I typically get a few days before my period, and I was super nauseous on CD 4 and 5 in the evening, I''m having some issue in the poo dept alternating between the 2 extremes...I chalked all that up to my head, or a virus, or something I ate...but today since noon i have had a perstant twinging/pulling sensation in the vicinity of my uterus. WTF?

So, now I am a little excited, and nervous, and trying not to over analyze. I know I''ll feel stupid for posting this if I am not...but, welll, I got liberated in the hangout thread so I figured I''d be real:-)

Hey Ladies!

Are we excited for the long weekend yet, or what? I can''t wait. I am actually heading up to NYC this weekend, so for all my ladies up there, if there is anything going on or any cool places that you think I should hit, please let me know
9.gif
.

ImperfectGirl: We always have room for one more
2.gif
Welcome to the TTC hood
35.gif
I hope that your stay is short and sweet
21.gif
. As far as patience goes, I am not the girl to ask, but I''m sure some of the other ladies can help you out there. Good luck!

Wellism: I know it is so much easier said than done, but please just try to focus on the positive and don''t let those negative thoughts creep into your head. Just focus on all the great things you have coming up with this LO, and how to make your body a hospitable place for it
2.gif
I will be wishing you LOADS of sticky dust!

LAJenn: I am soooo glad that they were able to take your CD3 readings, Yeah!
36.gif
I am not sure what all of that means, but I hope its good news =0)

Bella: I am glad that the store fixed the baklava disaster, and in such a delicious way
18.gif
As for your signs, I won''t address them so as not to jinx you, but it can''t be a bad thing
2.gif

KTF: I guess you know when you are and aren''t KU, but then again, there have been plenty a girl suprised around here
3.gif
. You are going to be my new paitence idol, and I only hope I can keep such an attitude. Do keep us up to date either way

Amandine: I have my fingers crossed for you! Btw, I love the wax person''s assessment, it would be crazy if she was right! I hope that you can hold on until the 5th! Sticky dust for you...

Catluver: Yikes on the Instead cups experience. I bought them and was planning on trying them, but now I am going to be uber careful...
32.gif
I do hope that you get your positive OPK and enjoy the BD''ingn process sans the cups. Thanks for the well wishes this cycle
2.gif

Ryan Claire: WOOHOO on getting AF
36.gif
. Who cares how you got it, now you can start clean this cycle. I really really hope that the Clomid in the larger dose does the trick! Good luck and maybe we will both get lucky this month
