The Official TTC Thread!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Do any of you get really emotional right around O time? I don't think I do normally, but today has been crazy. I was at the gym this morning and almost started crying watching Dance Moms.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Hi Claritek, welcome! And thank you! DH thinks we won't need the appointment either; I am not quite so optimistic, but I did go out and buy a lot of new winter work clothes yesterday (most with no room for bumps :loopy: ) and made that appointment so I think I've done what I can to convince the universe that now would be the most inconvenient and highly ironic time to be pregnant- and thus it will happen!

Thanks, blacksand!

Oh, and...you win. Smell? I woulda never...although I hear the 'other stuff' also floats. And I'm thinking, floats? Like you scoop a bit up and drop it in the sink with some water? :knockout:

amc, I am finding my emotions to not be super reliable anyway after coming off the pill and then being immediately on this TTC rollercoaster, so I'm not much help!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

I know it's way too early for any symptoms...I mean even if it did work the little blastocyst is still floating around, since I'm probably only 3-4DPO. But man, I woke up today feeling like I've been out drinking all night. Blech. More than likely I just managed to get whatever stomach thing B had on Monday. But it's a not fun reminder of how I felt for the first half of my last pregnancy!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

amc - Here's hoping!

I haven't had anything of interst. Zero zilch nada. Mind you I'm either at 5 dpo or at 2 dpo depending on if Wed was my o day (cd 18) or Sunday really was (13 dpo and positive ish opk, read my entry before). BBD on both days, but no other days. So meh.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Man, I have a serious case of the iwanttotest bug. I'm somewhere between 6-8DPO. I'm going to target at lunch to get some other stuff and don't ya know, they sell tests there! :) But the question is if I get a positive would I feel okay having a glass of wine with dinner while on the cruise next week? I know there isn't even a blood supply sharing situation until 6 weeks. But I just don't know if I could do it. If I don't test before we leave then I won't test until we get back, which will be the 24th and approximately one million DPO. Well, or 19. At which case I'd know anyway since AF would have shown up during the cruise. Actually, now that I type that, even if I don't test (which was the plan) I will know during the cruise and I still plan on a dinner drink or two...so I guess it doesn't really matter?

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Hi ladies, back from the other side of the world. Glad to see you all are doing well. Thank you all for your thoughts. It's hard to deal with a tragedy like this since D was so young (just 45 days shy of his 34th birthday). But I'm glad I went and his wife is recovering pretty well. Family is very much in shock but it was nice to sit with them and share some memories. D would've liked that. His wife, sis and mother were the most important women in his life.

AMC, if I were you, I'd just skip the testing and drink wine anyway. Rationally you know that there's no shared blood supply so I wouldn't worry about it. Re: EWCM or semen, I remember Dreamer said that one floats and the other sinks. I think it's semen that floats? I can't remember anymore.

Claritek, welcome. I totally hear you how the DH's will stress and worry about being ready. Heck even us moms do. But just know that no one will love your baby as much as you guys do, and by that regard, you'll be the best parents for him/her.

DF, hey don't count yourself out just yet. It's shocking how long sperm can survive, so even if you only hit those two days, you might still be in the running.

Avia, so funny how you say the universe will heed the ironic time to get preggo. But I kid you not the same thing happened to me. I bought a ton of new clothes and literally just restocked my wine cabinet and I got preggo. So I had brand new clothes that I couldn't wear (ended up giving to Sis to wear) and 36 bottles of wine STARING ME IN THE FACE for 30 very long weeks. So maybe buy a few cases of wine just to cinch it.

AFM: Got AF while in ZA the day after D's memorial service. Bummer. Was sad that I wasn't pregnant, but can't say I was very surprised. Not sure if I'm going to try in earnest for the next few months though. 1) I don't relish the idea of being super preggo in August. 2) A bunch of us decided in ZA that we're going to do a reunion in Provence next year, and my guess is it'd likely be in late summer. So if I am pregnant I do'nt want to be in my last tri at that time.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Avia- I really hope your concept of tricking the universe will work! Thinking of you!

LC- Glad you returned safely from your trip. Again I'm so sorrry about your loss. I'm glad you were able to travel over there to support your friend's family and share in his memory with your close friends. A reunion in Provence sounds WONDERFUL! I really love Southern France.

DF- Anything of interest now? I suppose if you're only 5 DPO then you likely wouldn't have many symptoms just yet but you might be as much as 8 DPO. Fingers crossed for you.

AMC- Seems that it doesn't really matter if you test or not due to the timing of the cruise with your O date. I can imagine that about now you're browsing the Target selection of pregnancy tests of you've already bought one since it's about lunch time for you.

AFM- CD1 here. Let the games begin! I should be Oing at the end of next week. I was supposed to have my annual exam last Friday but the doc canceled due to an emergency. They it got moved to today and AF showed up last night. So now it's moved to next Friday- the day of my cycle that I got a positive OPK last time (CD12). I know you're supposed to obstain from intercourse before a pap but I'm not missing my window! If the doctor wants to do another one down the road I'll be fine with that. I suppose one benefit of having a gyn appointment right when I think I'll be ovulating is if she can tell me if my cervical position and openness is correlating well with the OPK results. I've never felt for my own cervical position before but I'm sure she can let me know. I think I'll be testing after Thanksgiving weekend if I haven't had any signs of AF at that point.

Good luck to everyone in the TWW!

Clairitek- do you have psychic powers??

So, as a public service announcement- target has two packs of FRERs on sale for $8.99. You can print out a $2 coupon online. Then there is a $1 coupon on each box. PLUS there's a target promo where if you buy two first response products you get an instant $5 gift card. So that's spending $18 and getting $11 in savings, so $7 for four tests. Happy day!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Alas, the universe was not fooled. At least I will get to wear all my cute new clothes now! I have my appointment next week, too, which makes me very happy. I'll probably be posting updates and details over In the 6+ thread, since I will likely be getting I to bloodwork and testing and such that hopefully none of you ladies ever have to deal with. But I will still be following along over here cheering everybody on! :appl:

Amc- did you put your pinky by your mouth and get super dramatic when you typed one million DPO? Cause I did when I read it!

Edited because the iPad keeps wanting to change 'bloodwork' to bloodworm. I hope I WILL NOT be getting into bloodworms!

Haha this whole post made me crack up. Now I can't read "one million dpo" without saying it like Dr. Evil.

And, because I have zero willpower:

I swear I see the start of something but I also know exactly where that line should be so I'm pretty sure it's my brain playing tricks on me. Not that I expected a BFP with a mid-afternoon, two hour hold, at 6-8dpo

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Not psychic but I think we're in the same time zone and it was around 12:20 when I was typing my message!

Score on those tests! I may just make a stop by Target on my way home tonight! I just wish I didn't have to install a little applet thingie from the Smart Source website to get the online coupon. I only have a work laptop and I don't want to mess around with it. Still seems that $9 for 4 FRER tests is pretty good. I currently don't own any as I've never had a need before this cycle.

Avia- I'm so sorry AF turned up. I'll be reading your posts over in the 6+ month thread. I really really hope your midwife has some good ideas about what's causing the delay. I agree that staying away from bloodworms is probably a good idea. Enjoy your cute new clothes!

AMC- No will power indeed! Are you planning to test again in the morning or wait a few days? Remind me what the earliest those things could turn up positive is?

More fun to be psychic! :)

So FRERs are listed at 25 (whatever the units are) but in labs can pick up as low as 6. If you go over to the 6m+ thread you will see some recently posted pics that are probably around 12. So, if you implant the first day possible (6dpo) and have a pretty good HCG production going on, you could theoretically get a BFP by 7dpo. All women (people?) have some level of HCG, below 5, so say you started off at a 3 at 6dpo, then by 8dpo you'd be up to 6, which could then be seen on a FRER.

IN a nutshell, I'm testing again tomorrow. I have 3 more tests. I will test tomorrow, wednesday, and then leave the last one in the car for when we return from our cruise. I think. With B I got a decent bfp at 9dpo so I bet I would have seen a line at 7dpo had I tested.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Howdy all!

Claritek- Sorry about AF, but you seem to have a good idea of how you need to plan!
Amc - You're right, no willpower lol!!!! So funny! And thanks for the Target Heads up, though it may have expired by now.

Nothing of interest from me. Just sitting here all blah, which is fine. I do have a funny story. Friday night at 11:50 SO's phone rang, he didn't answer. It was his uncle. The next morning he was blowing his phone UP. We obviously thought something was wrong. But no. He was calling to tell SO that he dreamed I was pregnant, and if I was that we should kiss our travels goodbye. LOL Ok Uncle B. Thanks for the warning.

No worries about AF. We weren't trying last cycle. This will be our first trip round the TTC block. Going on a big wine tasting trip before Thanksgiving/Thanksgiving week so we decided to wait one more cycle. In hindsight, I wish we had just gone for it. Oh well!

What a strange dream! Your uncle must be a mind-reader.

I went by Target and didn't end up buying tests because they were still full-priced at $10.79 for 2. They did have the $1 off coupons on the boxes, though. I think I'm going to wait to buy a test until after we are back from our Thanksgiving trip. Then I will be testing at least 7-8 DPO if things are consistent from previous cycles. I keep hovering over the "Place Order" button on my Amazon app with a box of cheapies in my cart but if I have them I won't be able to resist peeing on them. Then I'll just be obsessing over it while we are visiting our friends in San Diego. No good!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Clairitek- how weird they weren't on sale for you! Bummer.

So- I had my appt today to look at my possible cyst. The good (but annoying) news is she didn't see anything of concern. She did see one cyst that she said was likely a corpus luteum cyst. She also said my lining looked like it was really thickening up. Of course, it would be doing that anyway at this stage in my cycle, but she said she liked the look of it...whatever that means. She asked if I wanted lab sheets so I could get my blood tested next week. I told her I'd be on vacation, which brought up the drinking thing. She said there's no way I'd cause any harm to anything at that stage, so to have a good time. THEN, she said "well why don't we just schedule an ultrasound for the week of Thanksgiving, just in case." I love her and am so glad I switched practices. I'd only be 5 weeks so not a whole lot would be seen, but so cool that she is proactive. Oh, and the best part? I got in on time and was in and out in about 15 minutes. Score!!

Now, of course, I will be on a testing frenzy. I already told DH that I need to buy more tests.

In on time and out quickly at a doctor's office? No way!? I've been to my obgyn practice twice before (for two annuals) but it's been so long I can't recall if they are good about that. I will say that both doctors I saw were very personal and engaging. They didn't seem like they were in a rush and really listened. Great bedside manner.

Great news that she didn't see anything of concern. You went in to see what was causing the unusual pain, right? Here's hoping that thickening lining means that you're KU and not impending AF.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

I know, it was amazing! My old doc was at least an hour wait every single time. This was really refreshing.

Yeah, I have had O like pains basically since I O'd last cycle. I figured it was a cyst but who knows.

ETA...for the other POAS-adicts, 8DPO. I kinda sorta think I might see the start of *something* if I zoom way in...but I fully realize it could be my eyes playing tricks on me.

What??? That sucks! I would email or call them. Shoot, let me try logging in. Mine works....maybe a temporary glitch?

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

amc, are you testing this morning? If so, hope you get your BFP! When I used a FRER at 8dpo, I kept thinking I could sort of, kind of see parts of a line in certain lights. But I was getting positives on my wondfos at 8dpo, so I thought maybe I was just willing there to be a line on the FRER. I did finally get a definite line at 9dpo (had to run out and buy more since I'd gone through my FRER stash).

Lots of luck to you ladies! LC, so sorry for everything that has happened for you this month...hoping the next few months are more relaxed for you. As you know, there's no perfect time and whenever it happens for you will be great.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

amc, dust to you!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Sending dust to you AMC!!!!

It's cold here. That's about it. LOL!

Well of course i tested this morning. 9dpo. Again, I swear I see some hint of a line. DH sees it too. So tomorrow I should know.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

AMC, keeping my fingers crossed for you. Enjoy your cruise.

Dragon, has FF corrected for you? I'd be pissed if I lost all my cycle data.

Question: for those of you who are TTC for #2, What method are you using to track your O days? I *suck* at consistently recording my BBT, I think I'm going to give up on that. I also *hate* POAS for OPKs because I always get negatives or barely there positives, so I never feel confident I'm finding my surge. This past cycle EWCM was a bust for me. Perhaps because I was dehydrated, but I'm going to give that another shot this cycle. Otherwise not sure what I'll do. I don't thikn I'm ready to commit to acupuncture which I used the cycle I got pregnant with E. That'll require 2 hrs of baby sitting at least once a week, if not twice a week. I think if we're about April March and still don't have any luck, I might bite the bullet and do that again. In my mind, I'm kinda back on the WbW list too, since I'm convincing myself to take a break off these winter months for TTC.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

LC, sounds like you're still having long cycles, which makes tracking your O that much more frustrating. The cycle we conceived #2, I was NTNP, but I had been tracking my O days for several cycles prior just to make sure I was ovulating. My cycles after having K were much more regular than they were before, so that helped me. There was no way I could temp again...I could now that K sleep until 7am ever day, but when we were TTC#2 she was in a spell where she still wanted a 5am bottle, so it just wasn't feasible to temp.

Since you're still on the fence, I might go the NTNP route for the rest of the year, then maybe re-assess early next year. Maybe by then you'll feel a little more mentally ready to pee on sticks for a couple of weeks at a time, you know? In any case, wishing you lots of luck--for now just enjoy your time with E!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

LC, I have not even attempted to track temps this time around. I had been relying exclusively on wondfo OPKs until I started being monitored and receiving fertility treatments. My sleep is so inconsistent (even before baby), so there is no way temping would work. I know it's trickier for you though with long and unpredictable cycles. There are higher tech products out there like that ovulation watch somebody posted at one point and a CBE has some fertility monitor thing, but I have no idea how well those work. If you are not in too big of a rush, maybe you would be better off letting nature take its course for awhile, but then again, it's so frustating not to know where you are in your cycle. Sorry, I'm not help whatsoever. Just wanted to send you good thoughts!

amc, this feels like deja vu with you going off on a cruise and leaving us in suspense. I suspect we'll be hearing happy news from you soon you fertile myrtle you!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Thanks NEL and MP for your thoughts. I think I'm going to just repeat the mantra about going all out in March/April and trying to just enjoy Ethan until then. It's just so hard to keep peeing on tests and keep getting a negative/weak positive. 1st time around I had to stop using CBE OPKs because I started getting really sad every time it came up with a O instead of a =)

Can I just vent here? Long cycles SUCK! My cycles are like 40 days long. Today I actually did the math and dividing it out, in 365 days, I only get 9 tries. 9 tries in a whole EFFIN' year! That's a more than a 30% decrease in odds. FCUK mother nature, man! Why do I get 30% less chances to try than what's considered typical. Stupid, stupid, stupid long cycles! STUPID! OK vent over. I'm still pouting but I'll leave you guys to your normal TTC stuff.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

LC - I hear you on the long cycles. Very nerve wracking! And then you hear people say the later you ovulate, the egg quality lowers. Well great, just adding insult to injury. I O'd on CD44 first prenancy and I believe CD23 this time. But anyway, I'm wishing you luck! I know how discouraging it can be waiting so long to ovulate and then not getting pregnant.

Hi ladies! This will probably be my last post before leaving. I tested this morning and got a bfn. 11dpo. I know it's still early but really I'm not feeling anything. I have one FRER left and will test in a few days. DH wouldn't let me buy more tests and says I have to wait :( There's always a chance I O'd on cd14 in which case we are out this cycle anyway. I will know if that happened on Monday. Have a great week!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Remember once upon a time when I thought I'd post regularly? ::)

Claritek: AHHH! Welcome! Hooray for you! Hope your stay is short and sweet, and that you have some fun trying.

AMC: Sorry 'bout the BFN (maybe? It's not over 'til it's over, though...). Same goes to all the other mamas who recently saw the return of AF. As for the TMI bit, I've heard that semen will quickly soak into TP while EWCM stays slicker/on the surface of the paper for a longer amount of time. The smelling/tasting bit has me

LC: So sincerely sorry to hear about your loss. How terribly sad :(sad Vent away about your long cycles. Have you talked with your OB or GP about them? I'm sometimes a bit she-she-crunchy, so I'm sure there's a "granola-y" fix for long cycles. As for the efficacy/effectiveness of it... Soy Isoflavones, maybe?

We gave this cycle a half-hearted try. We're getting our house ready for sale which leaves little time for BDing and generally makes us loathe one another, so we're not really in the baby-making mood. I O'd sometime around CD17 or 18, which would've been Tues/Wed the 12th/13thth. We BD'd once on the 11th. Not the best odds. With Eloise I was SO adamant about trying- temping, OPKs, eating pineapple cores, etc. This time I feel so, "Ehh..." I keep saying I'm going to temp, but I never do. I'm not even feeling antsy about POAS, but that may change as the week goes on. I'm clear out of HPTs and can't decide if I want to order any internet cheapies...Not sure what changed last cycle to this one, but I just don't feel optimistic that I'm knocked up.
