Hi Mamas! I'm dipping my toe (or jumping headfirst I can't decide!) back into PS and TTC for baby #2. Well at this point we're more NTNP than actually TTC, but who knows.
I was never super active but I was around when I was getting married, stalked a ton before I got pregnant with DD then I was around some during my pregnancy.
Hannah was born in October of 2012 so according to my 'ideal' timeline we're a bit early to start TTC, but I had a lightning bolt hit me yesterday that said:
-hey, you don't automatically get pregnant the first month you try
- most couples try for at least a couple months
and most unfortunate of all
-I've known and seen a LOT of 2nd time mamas end up with angel babies in between pregnancies.
So DH and I decided if there might be x months of trying we'd rather front-load my ideal timing than add it to the back end.
My ideal timing would be to start TTC around August so that baby #2 would come a few months before Hannah's 3rd birthday.
I freaked myself out big time because we BD last night and if by chance it actually happened (jerkstore!) the baby's due date would be the same week as H's birthday. And she was born on DH's birthday. He looked at me and said 'what if you have ANOTHER baby on my birthday??" LOL
So I have had about 4 cycles so far pp, seem to be somewhat regular with one longer one in the mix, so I'm going to try opk. I decided on the babi brand from Amazon, will have a full report soon once they get here. My FF is telling me to expect AF around the 25th, so I'm thinking I just might test (for fun, right?) next Wednesday, which would be 10 dpBD (love my new term?).
We just repeated sleep training with H so I'm hoping to get regular enough sleep soon to feel good about temping. Right now I think it would just be confusing with my irregular waking patterns.

AMC, keep faith. You're only 10DPO, so there's still a chance. I'd say step away from the pee sticks. Have you DH hide them and test this weekend.
Rachel, welcome! There's a few of us trying for our second, so you're in good company. I hope you get something close to the timeline you have in mind. But at the same time, there's no such thing as a perfect age gap, so either way H and her sibling will be just fine and you'll all adjust to whatever happens.
RT, Hope the temps stay up.
PPM, are you waiting to test this weekend?
AFM: I'm 9DPO today, so I'd expect AF tomorrow or latest by Thursday. I'm lukewarm about this cycle since I O'd almost a week before I expected, so we only got in an O-3 session. Which is still possible, but I'm not holding my breath. If it doens't work out, I've got 2.5 bags of Fertilitea from a friend, so that will be my plan (hopefully).

LC- Yeah, I've already decided to not test for at least a couple of days. Assuming it doesn't work this cycle, I think I'm going to hold off testing next cycle until later. Don't get me wrong, I'm not talking about 14dpo or anything, but maybe 12dpo. But who knows if I can hold to that.

If you are sure when you ovulated and are officially late, there's no reason not to test! Good luck!
RachelK- Welcome back! We are starting to try a little earlier than our ideal time but since we wanted to avoid Nov-Dec-Jan birthdays we figured we might as well give this cycle a try. I was also thinking of the things you said that it might not happen right away. It seems like everyone I know that got pregnant right away with their first, took longer with the second. I know that's anecdotal but I didn't want to just assume that it would be quick. So here we go! How have you only had 4 cycles PP? Are you still breastfeeding? I got my first AF when DD was only 4 months and she was exclusively breastfed!
AMC- I love that you are planning on being more conservative (if there is a next time) but not actually waiting until AF is due. I am just like you, curiosity will always get the best of me! Hoping that temp goes back up and AF stays far far away!
LC- When do you plan on test? Friday?
AFM, Nothing much to report. I am only on CD12 and sometimes my cycles are very long.

Rachel, hi! I remember you! I'm a fellow October 2012 mommy. We've been trying for our second since this spring, but I'm having even more trouble getting pregnant this time than I did last time. Because we are not very fertile, I don't have the luxury of trying to plan the perfect time to have a baby or avoiding certain months. And I'm okay with that. I figure timing really doesn't matter in the end, and your family will be just perfect no matter when the new baby comes. Good luck to you whenever you decide to start!

Mia, not sure when I'll test. My LPs are short, so if i don't get anything by Thursday, I'll probably test. But I might want to wait for the weekend so my DH can find out when I do. Last time I told him over email (wife fail!) because I couldn't wait the WHOLE DAY at work without saying anything, and we always email during the day, not really call.

Hi Ladies!
@mia - yup only 4 cycles pp. They've been 30ish days, one was something like 42. I had my first one a month before DD's first birthday. I was still nursing (only about 1-2x a day) at that time, but I think a part of my blessed no period time was that I had low milk supply and took domperidone. That keeps your prolactin really high and tends to help you not get AF back. I had been off it for months before my cycle returned though so who knows. I think it's also the universe being fair to me because pp I had bleeding (of course light but it was still there) for something like 8-10 weeks. THAT sucked.

I will be super stocked for POAS soon. I have 22 wondfo pregnancy tests and 50 opk's on the way : )
I'm super cheap and think I'm not going to spend more $$ on other tests, especially because I have so many. the wondfo worked great for me last time, and once the positive is obvious, it seems like a waste of money to me to have a bunch of different kinds of tests.
BUT last time my cycle was super jacked up and I didn't test until late (had no idea I was even ovulating I think I concieved on cycle day 42 or something crazy like that) so by the time I tested I was 5 weeks and my lines were insane. The test lines were so dark they pulled nearly all the dye from the controls : )
I felt really sort of scared and I don't know - reluctant? - today about going ahead and TTC. DD seems so mature compared to where she was even a few months ago but she's also still so little! I'm not sure I'm ready to be 'pregnant me' again yet either. I really want to lose these last 10# plus more (I gained 60 with dd so I have come a long way already this past year) but then again it's fairly trivial in the overall scheme of things.
In general I want to remember and learn that I can't plan everything and life doesn't follow my detailed plans so I may as well just go with the flow and see what happens.

Rachel, I'm sorry about your ambivalence about being pregnant again. And it's totally normal. You'll make it work whatever happens and you and your family will always adapt. Our kiddos get more and more fun as they get older, it makes you think, "Why do I want to mess with this." But only you know if your family is complete. If it is, then that's wonderful. If it isn't then you'll figure it out.
AMC, RT, PPM, how are you ladies doing? Temps still up?
AFM: temp still up today 10DPO. My LP is usually 10 or 11 days. So I'm really really hoping that my temps stay up tomorrow too. Fingers crossed for all of us in the TWW!

I didn't test today and have no desire to test. It's funny- I only like to test early if it's early enough that a negative doesn't mean it's really negative. Once I get to an appropriate testing time I just don't want to see the negatives. I know 11dpo is far too early to say that I'm out, but I'm really not feeling anything. The only weird thing I've had since about 6dpo is a crazy sense of smell. And nothing smells good, everything is gross.

And, speaking of testing, perhaps you need to test again...

I am so relieved that AF finally showed up - even though it happened 30 minutes before I went to the doctor. The bad news is that I had the worst period I've ever had -- including when I was a teenager. I couldn't even get out of bed on Saturday!
Today I finally feel more like myself.
All my tests were negative, hallelujah, but I'm pretty alarmed that my periods have proven to be irregular in the fairly significant time I've been off BC. My OB/GYN has been pretty horrid to deal with through this whole thing, so I'm going to switch.
I am so relieved that AF finally showed up - even though it happened 30 minutes before I went to the doctor. The bad news is that I had the worst period I've ever had -- including when I was a teenager. I couldn't even get out of bed on Saturday!

random I'm still hopeful for you! Are your temps still up? I charted for a while after I got my BFP and there was a clear 2nd rise in my temps from about 13DPO. Don't know whether that's usual or not though.
LC and PPM, I hope that at the very least, these are more "normal" cycles for you - shorter, and with longer LPs! Have everything crossed for you and all the TTCers
random I'm still hopeful for you! Are your temps still up? I charted for a while after I got my BFP and there was a clear 2nd rise in my temps from about 13DPO. Don't know whether that's usual or not though.
LC and PPM, I hope that at the very least, these are more "normal" cycles for you - shorter, and with longer LPs! Have everything crossed for you and all the TTCers

AFM: AF still isn't here. Last test was Monday, 'twas a BFN. I'm now... I don't know... Between 9 (conservative) and 12 (I wish) DPO. If AF isn't here tomorrow it definitely means my LP is lengthening, but b'/c I can't pinpoint ovulation, I don't know exactly how much it lengthened. No spotting, white-stretchy CM, cervix is high and soft but OS feels open, and I'm crampy.

PPM, It's OK you tested last night. I'm going to confess after I read you tested I did also. But so stupid of me to since I was only 9DPO. BFN (surprise surprise), so I'm definitely going to wait until Saturday to test.
shertz, ugh bummer about the worst period ever. Can you remind if how long you've been off birth control? Sorry your OB has been so unpleasant, I definitely think switching to a practice/doc you're more comfortable with is a good call. What CD are you on now?
AFM: 10DPO and my temp went back up from yesterday's entry. So the big question is will it stay up tomorrow, 11DPO which has traditionally been my longest LP. Fingers crossed....

Update- 15 DPO today. No Af. Sore throat, horrible sore throat. Cramping still. Temp Rise on my crappy belated chart lol. BFN still.
