I found this link tonight - and found it was something that I thought should be sharred.

www.getipm.com/personal/red-skelton.htm

I may be dating myself - but I remember Red Skelton (my dad used to watch his shows).

Some truths never end. To bad so many have forgotten or perhaps never learned.

My husband and I put a huge flag over our living room window after September 11, 2001 and I, like my friend who would run into the street to get a flag that had fallen off a car, treated each one with respect.

It is against my beliefs to pledge allegiance to a flag, however. I believe it is against the beliefs of the Quakers, too. I am not bothered by the "under God" currently in the Pledge. At least not much bothered. I do not believe that a flag or a country deserves devotion or reverence, though. I hold those feelings for people and for God, whom I believe to reside in people of all nationalities.
