The *real* wait is about to begin...

Well, I know better than to get too excited, because as most of you know, M and I have had a lot of ups and downs recently. Things have been "normal" lately -- very lovey but we bicker like an old married couple off and on. More ups than downs, anyway. He seems to have dealt with the passing of his grandfather and is aware that I feel a great deal of guilt over him not being there in time (b/c we were arguing). I think I''ve had a harder time with that than him, honestly. Anyway, I''ve focused on US stuff and not ENGAGEMENT stuff lately and that''s been good and healthy.

BUT...

I got the call from Mark T today and the ring is DONE!!!!!!! It''ll be here FRIDAY!

So I am thrilled to know it''ll soon be in my home and am doing my absolute best to keep my mouth shut on the topic and secrectly pray that he uses my birthday trip. I have serious doubts about that happening so soon, but it *is* a possibility b/c he just mentioned to me he wants to plan the trip. Hmmmm...

Anyway, Mark T is so GOOD that he is *not* sending me pics of the ring (b/c that would ruin the surprise) and I won''t get to see it until my man puts it on my finger --- sneaky men sticking together! haha I totally respect him even more for it though. Anyway, I had to share with SOMEONE other than my mother (who would actually be the only other person in my life who cares about jewelry) so thank you all for allowing me to ramble about this! I can barely contain myself! So a few good vibes from the PS fairy would help right now

My actual birthday is July 2nd (and I''d told him previously I didn''t want it on my birthday b/c I thought I might get it sooner -- a lot''s changed since then...) and my birthday trip is the weekend AFTER that. I guess I''m hoping the ring''s presence will drive him to hurry up and use it when it gets here

Oooooh it felt good to write all that... I feel like I can almost relax a little....

I guess I''m trying to tell you I know how it is, about loving each other to death but also having issues that you are both very passionate about come up and finding it difficult to solve them. I just want you to know that we have been together for almost 5 years now, married for almost 3, and that aspect has never changed, but we still love each other very much and are completely committed to each other for the long haul. I will post tomorrow when everything has arrived -- in the meantime I have to tell you that I talked to Mark earlier so he could give me the tracking number, and he called back right afterward and asked that I call him when I actually get it (from M, not the mail) so he can post pics on his website! He knows the temptation for me to visit his site would be just TOO much, so he''s gonna wait (but I am so glad to hear he wants to put these pics up)

Gee wiz... why is it every other time fedex has brought me something, it shows up before I even get home from my early-morning work and then I have to go pick it up in the afternoon ... and today the fedex man is taking FOREVER! Argh!

Monarch -- I couldn''t reply last night, but I wanted to say you got us right. I think it''s the Cancer in me that is so darned emotional... he''s pretty laid back most of the time and it''s my intensity/lack of patience/inability to shut my trap that usually gets us into our bad moments

However, I don''t think the love will ever go away between us -- glad to know another couple a bit like us

Anyway, he''s been SO amazing the last day and a half since we knew the ring was done. Or maybe it''s just been that I''m calmer and he can express more to me? Either way, he has been just do lovey-dovey and cuddly. I love it -- It''s like it "used" to be (more regularly). I know he has purchased me an "actual" birthday gift, but he made a point of telling me it was a "cheap" one unlike anything he''s gotten me on any special holiday thus far (I got diamond earrings for my last birthday on our cruise, a diamond necklace for our first valentine''s day last year, an amethyst and siamond bracelet for Christmas and a really cool titanium-infused-glass pendant also for Christmas (a BBB jeweler''s side hobby) -- you''d think we have money or something! hah we really really do not, and I knew the generous gift-giving trend would have to slow down at some point. But since he brought up the "cheap" quality of the gift, it makes me seriously wonder if it''s because he plans on giving me the other "SOMETHING" very soon

Also, at the Christmas, his plan was just to give me the bracelet, but he just could not handle the pendant being boxed up and he just HAD to give it to me! So I''m hoping in a weird way that he can actually hold on to the ring until our trip b/c I really DON''T want him to just give it to me right away without it being a special place/time (like right out of the box "here ya go" style!) How crazy is that?? I want it, but not yet?? I know you girls know what i mean.

Well, the only way I know how to ramble is longwinded -- so thanks for hanging in there with me! I just needed to releive more anxiety

I''m a Cancer too and extremely emotional. However, M is too so we butt heads every so often for short periods of time. I''m sure two cancers aren''t supposed to be together but we''re made for each other so who cares right? Congratulations on almost having your ring!

Well, crap. Fedex is experiencing "delays" -- I''ve tracked it and it''s made it very close to here, but won''t be coming til tomorrow and I will be out of town at a skating conference. Argh again.

soooo...on a happy note, I thought I''d share a "sappy" moment from yesterday with y''all -- keep in mind mine is the most unexpressive of men

He was looking at me really sweetly and I asked him what he was thinking about (usually he looks at me to get me to say "what?" and then laughs)-- well, to this he replied "I just cannot understand how you don''t think you''re beautiful"

Melted my heart, really.

Anyway, looks like no box til tomorrow, so I''ll update Sunday...

Jen, it''s really nice to know that my ring helped inspire and create yours, because not having any pear halos to work with at the time, it was hellish getting my ring made!!! So I''m glad that your experience could be aided by mine. And who knows, I might like the underside of yours better.

I had no idea how mine was going to come out - it was never discussed. It''s exciting to have a second generation of a ring here.

Am I allowed to say "CRAP" 2000 times in one post?? i had to disappear to a skating conference in northern arkansas today, so I was awaiting the phone call from M saying package arrived safely. well, NO. Instead I got a call from fedex saying they didn''t get the package in to the local fedex last night like they were supposed to (but yesterday it was less than a 2 hour drive away!) -- and the best they can hope for is to deliver it MONDAY! Have any of you had delays from fedex like this before?? This is a first for me, so I am especially paranoid about this one!


So, while I have to continue to wait, there''s good news..... M wants to see a band (of all things) on the 7th (when we were originally supposed to take our weekend/birthday trip) and so he wants to go THIS coming weekend! At first I was apprehensive, but he really seems to want this, and even said to me "then at least we don''t have to wait..." well it''s not HIS birthday trip, so what is he so darned impatient about??

I booked the hotel tonight, and so we leave next Friday. I''m so bad, but I totally requested the room with the best view and told the lady what "potentially" could be happeneing and she was just giddy to help me

So no ring here yet, but maybe only 6 days to go???? Cross a few fingers and toes gals, I''m more than ready for this...

Finally, FEDEX came through for us and my box is here! I just can''t stand it b/c I''m not allowed to open it!!!!!! Anyway, I feel releived that it''s not lost, so now -- more waiting

Let''s cross fingers for this coming weekend -- M says he wants to do a riverboat cruise on Saturday night (instead of Fri) so I''m guessing if "it" happens, that would be the likely time.We''ll see, right?

Well, ladies ... we''re leaving this afternoon for my weekend "birthday" trip. I wish we were going on a romantic cruise like last year, but, hey, I''ll take what I can get

So the box with the ring is still on the shelf, just aching to be opened. After we load up to go, I think I''ll conveniently "remember" that I left something in the house and come back in (and of course, see if the box is still here).... I know, I''m bad.

But I''m kinda 50-50 on whether it''s happening this weekend since he made a reference to my real birthday the other day (which is NEXT weekend).

The riverboat ride is tonight instead of tomorrow, and that''s when I''m thinking it *could* logically happen... IF it does, anyway... can you tell I''m a nervous wreck right now?

I did my nails (which he laughed and said something about "for the pictures"... he gets the concept of the hand-shot!) If y''all don''t mind, I''d greatly appreciate a few good sparkly-vibes over the weekend!)
