Yay I finally got to take pics of my BB blue spinel in daylight. Let me tell you, this thing is incredibly sparkly, blue, and soooo pretty in sunlight. I wasn''t expecting this when I first saw it indoors!

Stats:

Barry Bridgestock blue spinel
2.41 ct.
8.1 mm

Going to be set in a 14 kt. white gold trellis

I love it! The color and saturation reminds me of a blueberry. That is going to be stunning in a white gold trellis setting.

Have you taken pics of it at night in different lighting?

Thank you! I think the white gold is going to really set it off. I toyed with the idea of rose gold, but now that I''ve seen it in the sunlight, it''s definitely white gold.

I haven''t. It''s really dark in low light, but I need to test it out in incandescent. I can see flashes of purple in the evening, but I''m sure with better lighting it''ll be lovely. Maybe it''ll be a project for tonight!

Thanks Omieluv! I can''t wait to see your Barry stone - when does it arrive?

I am not certain. In his email, he stated that he would have it out to me either Monday or Tuesday. Not sure if he means that he will ship it then or that I will reecieve it then.

Most likely he''ll ship it out then - but it means you''ll have it next week! I hope you take a ton of pictures when it arrives!

Woohoo!! Project! I had a feeling that it would flash purple in incandescent light. I see a lot of blue sapphires with those characteristics. I agree, white gold would be better for the color of the stone. Definitely go with what you like. Since blue is a cool color (as opposed to warm for rose gold), white would help make it stand out.

More pics!

That thing is huge!!!

You have to find some fluorescent light! I''m telling you, that thing will probably turn purple. Lol. And take your camera with you!!!

Beautiful!! I purchased a very similar one from Barry last week, but only about 1.1 carat. This is a learning process for me because I didn''t realize that 1 carat wouldn''t be similar to my diamond''s size, so, it was a little smaller than I thought. So, I have him and Dan looking for a larger one for me. Also, one that is a little lighter. So, I need to decide what I''m going to do with this one. I do love it though!

STOP IT!! BEG - Every time I decide to lay off the jewelry-thang, someone posts something marvelous and I waver. You colored-stone girls have been busy lately, so there''s been a lot of back-and-forth over here. You now have several stones that I''m crazy about, and this blue spinel is faaabulous!! Do you have a particular trellis setting picked out yet? Can''t wait to see it when it''s finished.

You''re in law school, right? How''s that going?

Wow that''s huge! It does look a lovely blueberry colour! Looking forward to seeing it set!

I asked Barry for a color changer, so I''m excited to see it''s purple side
