That thing is huge!!!

You have to find some fluorescent light! I''m telling you, that thing will probably turn purple. Lol. And take your camera with you!!!

It looks absolutely lovely! I can''t wait to see it set!!

Thanks Freke! And I love your new spinel too - it''s gorgeous!

Ooh I was going to respond individually to every post, and then realized it was going to take me a long, long time to do so. So first, thank you everyone!

Thanks Coati, Packrat, Musey, Ellen, Joy2theworld, Cellentani, Bling_addict, WishfulThinking, Mochi, Tourmaline_Lover, Marcy, Shaunrice, Imdanny, Dancingflame, and LtlFirecracker!

Platinumrock, aw thanks for the blueberry comment! It does look like a blueberry (and now has a name in my mind

Thanks Musey! What a poetic description - I love it!

Joy, have you posted the one you bought from Barry, because I would love to see it! I'm sorry it's not what you're looking for, but plus side? Another new stone
1.gif
I'm with you on the learning curve though about colored stone ct. size v. diamond ct. size - it took me awhile - for instance, this one is 2.41 ct. but diameter-wise, I think it's slightly less than a 2 ct. diamond (which I think is 8.2. mm). Totally fine with me and I knew it before buying this stone, but not something you expect when you're looking at colored stones initially!

Trust me, I know that feeling - what do you think got my colored stone collection going?
2.gif
Thank you so much for the compliment, btw! I just bought the setting actually - it's a white gold trellis from Americanset on ebay. Posted below. And yep, I'm a second year in law school - it's going well! I've been very fortunate with the people I've met, the professors, I met my BF here last year, and I've gotten really lucky with summer jobs (especially since Lehman Brothers happened during on-campus interviewing this year, and interviews for many people went to all hell). So I'm feeling good and enjoying myself - thank you for asking!

Thanks Bling addict! I think this is my biggest stone that I'm planning on wearing in a ring! I have that morganite, but I don't think i have the hands to pull off a 4 ct. stone
2.gif
I'm really excited for this one to be set!

Shaunrice, you can try it on anytime!

I haven''t tried taking pictures yet as I''ve never photographed any of my jewelry. However, I do love the stone from Barry. I just want a bigger one for the ring I have in mind. I have him and Dan on the lookout. I will try to take some pictures. I don''t even know how to get the stone in that ring thing Barry sent. I tried, but it fell and almost went down one of our heating vents, so, I gave up!

I think picture-taking is a nice weekend project
2.gif
I had a hard time figuring out how to get good pics (the first time I tried, I made my poor sapphire look horrendous, and being that Richard Homer cut it, that''s hard to do!). Even now, I can only get decent pics next to the window...I''m thinking of getting a lightbox. Haha I was so paranoid about chipping my stones - and some are too big to fit in the ring holder. I felt fairly ok with the spinel though- I usually place the stone on its table and squeeze that ring holder until it''s wide enough to get around the stone without touching it (no scratches please!).

What a fabulous stone to add to your beautiful collection!
30.gif
I look forward to seeing how you are going to set it!!

I have always been a fan of trellis settings, so I cannot wait to see your blueberry after it has been set!

I once bought that same exact setting for $99 with a cz in it from czjewelry.com. Not sure if they have the same setting though. It''s very nice, solid, and now hollowed out. I''m planning on using it for a colored stone one of these days.

Me too - trellis settings seem so graceful to me and I like the slightly thicker shank for this stone, I think!

Thanks!

It''s not tart at all! It''s really sweet, kind of like strawberry ice cream, but with a more unusual flavor (not unusual bad). It''s been a while for me too - maybe I can try it when I''m home next week and I can give you a fuller report!

Thank you Lili and Lauren! I just got an e-mail from the vendor - they'll be shipping the setting out in a couple days. Yay!
