My e ring is on its way and the wait is killing me! I've only seen CAD pictures of it and I can't wait to see the real thing. i've been on the Fedex tracking site every single day so I know it's already been cleared by customs which means SO will get it as early as tomorrow morning!!!! :appl: We will be celebrating our anniversary this week so I'm hoping to get my proposal then but then we also have a trip lined up in June and SO keeps teasing that he might wait till then before proposing. Anyone who knows me knows that I have ZERO patience, my ex boss once said I'm not impatient, I merely have a high sense of urgency :cheeky:

Oooooh the next few days leading up to our anniversary is gonna be sheer torture. and if he doesn't pop the question then, then it's a 2 month wait before our trip and possible proposal!!!
 
Ahhh I know how you feel! Our anniversary is next week too; I ended up giving him his gift early (we're going through a health issue with our dog and I wanted to show him how much it meant that he was being so great), and he basically mentioned that he's still working on mine, would I mind waiting for it until our anniversary trip (3 weeks from now). I'm ecstatic because putting it off until our vacation (very atypical of him) confirms that it's most likely a ring, but I'm going to be going crazy until then-- if I haven't been crazy already! I have that same sense of urgency and I just can't shake it! Lots of exercise has been helping.

Sparkly dust to you! :) I hope he pops the question sooner-than-later for your sake, haha!
 
thank you and bucketloads of dust to you too! :D I've been checking fedex parcel tracker (for the nth time today lol!) and SO JUST signed for the package a couple of minutes ago :appl: :appl: :appl: I know he's not likely to propose tonight coz he said he wants to make it special but I'm getting butterflies in my stomach and it's gonna be sooooo hard to concentrate on work for the rest of the day. I keep telling myself that he's not gonna pop the question until we go away for our holiday in June but that's AGES away!!! There's a little voice in my head going 'maybe he'll pop the question tonight or maybe he'll do it thi weekend' and I just know it's gonna drive me absolutely nuts! I honestly don't know what I'm gonna do from now until I get that sparkly baby on my ring finger :love: :love: :love:

I saw in another thread that your ring is going to be a pink sapphire. I couldn't believe that I missed a post about sapphire engagement rings! I'm currently waiting for a blue myself.

How exciting! I would go crazy too if I knew the ring was in his possession! Any updates?
 
Hi maebelle - oooh who did you go with for your blue sapphire? :)My vendor is NSC, i know they've copped alot of flak but I liked their stones best and picked a setting from their inventory. will definitely post hand shots when I get it, hopefully not too much longer! do you know when your sapphire's coming?

dandyandi - no updates yet! boyfriend didn't pop the question on our anniversary so it looks like he is going to make me wait. I'm surprised he's held out this long, he's terrible with secrets and i could always find out from him what my xmas presents are way in advance. but he's not budging this time! i know i should be enjoying the last couple months of being his girlfriend before becoming his fiancee/wife but patience is definitely not one of my strong suits and i just want the ring N-O-W!!!
 
I'm still in the show-your-boyfriend-everything-you-like-and-wait-semi-patiently step in the engagment ring process. He's in med school and it's always been "We have to wait til I'm out of med school" which seems entirely reasonable and now it's coming to end so I want it!. I'm about 95% certain I'll have a ring by the end of the year though. I think he might be a little shocked when he finally gives me the go ahead, because I'm ready at any moment to pull the trigger with the purchase. :)

I'm ok with heat treatment, and I want a precision cut, so I'm either going to commission a stone from Jeff White or get one from one of the other PS vendors if they post something that fits my criteria. There was one on Gemfix.com I drooled over for 6 months that recently was purchased by another PSer (I'm eagerly awaiting them to post pics too in the Colored stone forum), now I've got my eye on one from another vendor. I looked through NSCs website every so often, but nothing has grabbed me like some others. I just went through their inventory of pink sapphires and they seem a bit more reasonable than what they ask for the blues (sometimes I goggle at the price for their blues!). Their inventory of settings is also impressive, so it can be very fun playing with their interface.

Hopefully he is just trying to keep you off kilter and it's coming sooner than you think! In the mean time, what kind of setting/what shape of stone are you getting?
 
maebelle, if you're anything like me, end of the year seems a LOOOOONG time away lol! Still he might be giving you an end of year timeline to throw you off the scent and you could be getting a ring sooner than you expected. Here's hoping! :wink2:

Yes, i thought the prices of their blue sapphires are pretty shocking too. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that Kate Middleton is wearing Princess Di's engagement ring and now blue sapphires are 'back in fashion' :roll: Their inventory was the reason why I decide to get both stone and setting with them, I couldn't be bothered to go through 2 different vendors and worry about whether the stone will get lost in transit/extra shipping costs and times etc etc. Have you got pics of stones that you like? Gemfix have some nice heated stones and their prices are pretty good too.

I've changed my avatar so you can see my ring, i love it so much and can't wait to put it on. :love: :love: :love: It's a 2.02c oval sapphire in a fancy brillant cut (8.19 x 6.76 x 4.33) and the rings are platinum with 0.3ct pave diamonds. The ring and the wedding band are 4mm in total (i have small hands so i didn't want anything too chunky). We got an extremely good deal because we made the initial purchase when NSC was having a Valentines Day special and our dollar is so strong against USD. We even ended up getting an unexpected upgrade in stone size because the original stone we had in mind turned out to be heat treated. :appl:

Nope, their blue have always been a little crazy. I have been looking at sapphires since long before stupid Kate Middleton and her stupid sapphire (haha, joking! I just hate that for at least a couple years after I have it everyone will think the royal sapphire was the inspiration for mine and it definitely wasn't)

Your stone is just the size I'd want in an oval! And the double row of pave it going to be gorgeous. You must be so excited!! I myself would like a delicate string of channel set rounds.

I have been waiting 4 months and I am dying hahah! Hope you don't have to wait too long.
 
maebelle - show us pics of your ring design when you've made a decision:) i did consider a channel set too but my mum bought me a channel set RHR awhile ago and a couple of the stones fell off and I'm worried the same will happen with my e ring :cry: but yeah i love that both my WB and e ring have little diamonds to give that extra bling (at least that's how I've pictured it in my mind).

mif - thanks:) after intense questioning on my part, i managed to get my bf to reveal that the proposal will involve snow (we're going to the bush in june). . i've read some of your posts, i can't believe ur bf already has the ring for 4 months, that would drive me absolutely mental! sending you lots and lots of sparkly dust your way and hoping you won't hv to wait much longer either.
 
I know this may be crazy to say on pricescope but... That stone is a gorgeous color but is just too darn big to wear every day :) haha. When I finally get going on my own I will post a thread :)
 
I am actually going loopy currently. He is taunting me with it but he has a lot on his plate at the moment so I can't really expect it. I guess I thought maybe Easter would be the perfect time but doesn't look like he's even thought of it. I think i'll be looking at August at the earliest our anniversary is around then. :( :(
 
Gahh can I just say that the suspense is killing me too?? I know that he's bringing the ring home this week (he's not very good at secrets... :tongue:) and we leave for our anniversary vacation first thing Friday morning. He keeps dropping these torturous little hints, probably on purpose... I can barely wait! To be honest, I could use something positive in my life; everything about graduate school sucks right about now, especially since I've decided/have to leave my lab and start over a year into my PhD... :(

I hope you don't have to wait until August! But even if you do, I hope it goes quickly!

Thanks girls. Well it is definitely not happening this easter weekend :( we are heading away today and darling SO has already left with his bag for our trip - (we are meeting to go together) and it is still here with me in our house :( oh well at least I know and won't be disappointed but I still can't help but think how he must be clueless. All our families will be there together and it would be the perfect opportunity :(:(:(
