The Trump Policy of Separating Families at the US Border

You have beautiful diamonds but I don’t like trolls so am ignoring you from now on
What took you so long?.... Most of the liberals here ignores me, b/c they don't wanna hear me telling the truth. The liberals can easily brainwash the young and vulnerable but I'm too old

to be fooled by the left winger policies.

The problem isn’t that you’re too old to be fooled. The problem is that you are an old fool lacking in empathy. As long as you and yours are taken care of, you can’t be bothered to give a shit about others. I feel bad for your children and grandchildren. They have an a-hole for a father and grandfather.

They are proud of this A$$ () :praise: b/c neither he nor his immigrant parents needed to hear sympathy from other peoples or make excuses not to better themselves.

And this article about his statements at a rally exposes the first wave of narcissistic rage and resentment which is typical after having buckled yesterday. He was quite literally, harvesting desperately, new narcissist supply from his crowd, with full distortions. This is but the start of it. Note how he is unable to admit that separation of childten is wrong, confusing cruelty with strength. His only focus is to seem powerful, to aggrandize himself, deflect, and to protect himself against more narcissistic injury. It’s all about HIM. Big red flag. This coupled with an impulsive need to insult and tear down any perceived criticism with disproportionate, flaming viciousness. There is no higher thought, no grace, no core ethical principle. He must degrade, embarrass, shame others...,We can expect an equal or greater approach, driven by the deranged internal frustrations, hatred and rage coming soon. And more claims that he is the smartest, the richest, with a better apartment, that he should be considered an elite, that he’s a winner, that we are all safe now because HE is the one who has good chemistry with Kim Jong Un, HE is the savior and hero. This would be so comical if not for the danger which he poses. I know of no other US president who had such a personality ‘problem’. Sadly, the cheering base have no idea that he couldnt care less about them. He is only using them to keep the ongoing ego expansion up, and manipulating them as pawns, in the same way which he tried to use the children.

Don’t let the troll get under your skin. Definition from Wikipedia:
“In Internet slang, a troll (/troʊl, trɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting quarrels or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory,[1]extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[2] or of otherwise disrupting normal, on-topic discussion,[3] often for the troll's amusement.“

Holy shit, that is nothing but hateful. What a horrible way to start the morning! Hope you have a better day.
Nothing new. You must be a far left liberal and a anti Trumper to post on this thread or any other political threads. Imagine what would happen if a conservative came here and call liberals A$$ ()s ? .Every liberals here would have reported post #182 to the Admin. However,This A$$ () will not be running to Ella crying for help.

I saw videos of the rally. There were the typical tilt a whirl operators there, but there were also a LOT of kids.:shock::shock: Who the hell brings their kids to a Trump "rally?" And whey does he need these rallies? He's already President!?

Nope, not according to 90% of the PSers.

Prepping for 2nd term?

That’s shameful. I’m sorry that poster personally attacked you. FWIW, I clicked on the “report concern” and received a message that it had already been brought to admin’s attention, so I’m not the only one who was bothered by it.
No big deal!. I have had been called a lot worse than an A$$ () .:praise: It doesn't bother me at all!. Thanks, but no need to report the post to the admin. It'll show that the liberals here have a lot of class. ;))

I stand by what I wrote. DF sees nothing wrong with separating children from their parents and chooses to blame asylum seekers for their circumstances. If that’s not a complete lack of empathy, I don’t know what is.

If you are offended, put me on ignore and ask the admins to censor my post.

Why don't you put HIM on ignore? Seems that would be the best way to handle it rather than a personal attack.

There is a right way and a wrong way to seek asylum in this country.

Believe it or not, I do ignore him for the most part, but frankly his flippant comments and support of Trump's policy made it difficult not to speak out. It's morally repugnant that he would use his own immigrant experience as his excuse to turn his back on basic human decency and kindness.

My parents are immigrants. I grew up listening to my father's stories of how it took him three attempts to succeed in escaping from China to Hong Kong. For each time he failed, he was thrown in jail, and sadly he had more food there than his family had at home. When he finally succeeded in swimming to Hong Kong, one of his companions drowned along the way. My father couldn't even talk about that until recently, and it's been decades.

My father eventually made his way to the U.S. legally by applying for asylum. His application sat in a desk drawer for three years because he didn't know he was supposed to pay a bribe to have it processed. Luckily, the agency was taken over by new management, and they sent his application in right away. Under the Trump administration, they probably would've had ICE throw my father in a detention center indefinitely.

Two descendants of immigrants, two different stories. One chooses to use his experience to prop himself up with a false authority to blame people for their desperate circumstances. I choose to use my father's story as insight to the amount of despair someone must be facing to put their children and themselves in such dangerous situations.

Your father’s story underscores the fact that he came here through legal channels, as awful as the conditions were that he navigated. We desperately need immigration reform and both parties are stubborn and unwilling to make it happen. Instead it’s used as a political chip. It’s shameful!

He was in Hong Kong illegally. He broke China's law but followed U.S. laws. Is it okay to disregard Chinese law because Communism? Where do you draw the line?

And no, the problem isn't on both sides. The fact is, as of April 2018, Obama had deported more people than any other president before him. He enforced existing laws and focused on criminals.

The biggest priority were “noncitizens apprehended immediately at the border, gang members, and noncitizens convicted of felonies or aggravated felonies.”

I would posit that this so-called "crisis" was manufactured by Trump to stoke nativism, and it's a direct reflection of his white supremacist leanings.

Ah yes The Deporter-In-Chief.

Don’t fool yourself @JPie “detention center” CAGES were put to use in Obama’s deportation strategy as well. There is culpability on both sides. One party criticizes the other for inhumane treatment, then turns around and does it too! Deplorable situation.
I remember the days of country before party. We’ve sunken to new lows.

One of the reasons I wrote that the problem isn't on both sides is because there was in fact a bipartisan attempt at immigration reform in 2013: http://nbclatino.com/2013/04/16/sen...-citizenship-shift-to-employment-based-visas/

Some highlights include more funding for border security ($5 billion over 10 years) and a pathway to citizenship for immigrants without a criminal record. The bill passed the Senate but died with the House of Representatives. Republicans valued their obstructionist stance far more than compromising for the sake of the country.

Many Republicans rejected the one-page “standards for immigration reform” outright, and others said now was not the time for a legislative push on a number of contentious issues in an election year with trends going their way. Even their leader was cautious about where the issue will go from here.

In regards to methods of enforcing existing laws, yes, it's true that Obama did detain and separate families. The difference between Obama and Trump is that Trump's enforcement of the laws is based on his overtly racist ideology, and it absolutely showed in his decision to separate families as the standard and not the exception. This is the same president who referred to Haiti and African nations as "shithole countries," and defended white supremacists after one of them ran down and killed a woman.

For these reasons, it is not intellectually honest to say that both sides do it and that they're equally guilty. Regardless, I absolutely agree with you about this country sinking to new lows.

Completely agree with you @JPie. This was driven by hatred and egomania for a wall which he had to strong arm to attempt to build, after having promised voters that Mexico would pay for it. It seemed rediculous even then.

Have you seen this? While visiting detained children? No words.

I don’t know what’s more mind-blowing, the fact that she actually wore this jacket or the twisting their surrogates and apologizers will do to explain it.

“Oh it was completely unintentional! She had no idea she’d be photographed wearing this ol’ thing!”

In NO way am I defending the disgusting mess that is Donald Trump, my view of politics started back in the 60s. When I was 13 my oldest brother was killed in Vietnam. He was only 19. Not to get off track on this thread, but it certainly shaped how I look at things today. All the presidents going as far back as Truman lied, mislead and outright deceived us. Johnson, Nixon... egos that kept the deceit going. No party has the moral high ground! Not then not now. All politicians are egocentric, concerned with their legacy and how history will view them. Enough...back to our regular scheduled thread. :eek2:

Yup, the article this pic is in has words to the effect “it’s not about the jacket”....
