The weirdest thing happened yesterday and I keep thinking about it ... curious what you guys think ... some background first

1) My future e-ring''s recently been in transit to my b-friend''s family''s house in NJ
2) Arrived safely (whew!)
3) The only people who "know know" about the ring are the 2 relatives receiving it (aunt & uncle) .. who were told to not tell his parents or ANYONE ELSE
4) OK, maybe I also told my three sisters ... (whatever! hee hee)
5) My boyfriend moved into my house about a month ago, small street, small town, people talk

SO ... yesterday my 60-ish retired ball-player neighbor stops my car and says.

"I''ve got a story for ya. A little birdie in Florida told a little birdie on this street that SOMEONE on the street is going get married in the next year"

Huh? So I just stammered & blushed and mentioned my boyfriend moving in & tried to change the subject but he persisted telling me that HE KNOWS ... and that it''s VERY EXCITING ...

The neighbor is very nice, very much an "in everybody''s business" kinda guy who hasn''t even been officially introduced to my boyfriend yet (just haven''t been out at the same time)

Just weird timing with the ring transit & not knowing anyone in FLORIDA & wondering what could possibly be going on (small, small town folks!!! - and my family is all in Virginia)

Any ideas? Calming thoughts? Clue?

** and YESSSSSSS I am CRAZY EXCITED that the ring will be in his hands WEDNESDAY NIGHT (he''s driving down to Jersey to get it!!!!!!)

That is odd...Did he say who he knew in FL? Wow that even beats my Nana (who literally knows everything in Cobb County) she cannot do interstate gossip...
Well if anything ever happens and you need the information now you know who to get it from. And whose good side you need to stay on.

Coincidence.... I get to hear things like this too

Besides, he''s an old gossip fox and maybe your excitement shows a bit. It sure does on Pricescope posts!

Maybe this is what he wants? From what you say, this guy may feel it is his birth right to know everyone (if not to know everything everyone is up to also!). Ugh...
Just that 0.2 worth. I happy to hear you are so excited about the ring!

I don't really have any advice on this.. it's weird though!

Don't mean to hijack the thread...

I used to live in Cobb County!! Cobb County Georgia right? What a small world!

Are you guys by any chance New York Italians? Lots of Fl. connections. I should know, I am married to an Italian from the Northeast.

Hey Shay!
Nope, not Italian. Southern English/German meets Northern English/German. We could be bro/sis but luckily aren''t!

I''m racking my brain on the Florida connections - I think it''s from his "circle", he thinks it must be mine .. I even checked the Pricescope map to see if it had my street name! (& to see who was in Florida!)

Oh, that is too funny. It''s also going to drive you crazy until you figure it out. Is it through work? Small towns and all that.

I used to live in one. Everybody knows your business before you do. If they don''t, they wing it.

Nope ... One family on our block are "snowbirds" - here in summer, in Florida in the winter ... but I don''t know them well at all. Can''t see how they''d have any idea ..

Darn toot-in! He means well & am sure will be happy to see the only single gal on the block (in town?) get hitched. He''s been looking after me (helping with yardwork, doling out house advice) since I moved up from NYC city three years ago & bought my house. Maybe he thinks his "job" is done :)

Thanks also Valeria, Kalispera & Ries! EXCITED? Who me? I have to stay calm though ''cause it probably still be awhile before P-day.

That very well may be the case.
