I don''t post much at all, so no one really knows me, but here''s my story in a nutshell:

I''ve been searching high and low for the PERFECT engagement ring...went through all sorts of styles and stones and cuts and sizes...and i''ve come to the conclusion that i really love the look of diamonds, but i don''t want one for an engagement ring...apparently, i''m just not that conventional of a girl...

I have, however, fallen madly in love

with pink stones...not so much the pale ones, but the darker, deeper, raspberry/purple ones. I have a few ideas of stones that i like (i''ve got my eye on a 4.8 ct. pink tourmaline rectangular cushion) and i was just wondering if you could all post pics of your suggestions...but please not the J.Lo/Bennifer pink ring...!!!! I''m thinking more along the lines of Nicole Richie!!

THANK YOU!!

I haven''t seen the avatar, but that RHR is just amazing...here are a few that i''ve been debating about... (never posted pics before...here goes nothing!)

VE this one!! I had a thought about this setting. What about "pinching" the split shank into a point where it meets the head? Similar to the Scott Kay settings like this one:

The poster Aggie recently received a diamond engagement ring like this.

Here''s one more similar to Nicole Ritchie''s:

here are a few that i've been debating about...
It is nice, but pink tourmaline can look allot better - just more pink, without those grayish shades. Here's one:

And a pink sapphire ring:

There is allot more where this one comes from (HERE), including this:

PA168_2_th
J106_1_th

There is allot you could look for online... despite the fact that colors are not shown precisely and what not. The return policy allowing for inspection and alternative arrangements work it out, IMO.

Oh I really like the East/West setting on the one you posted.

The stone in that ring ... I hope the picture is not right, otherwise, it just puts a knot in my throat! I really am after nothing else but color and that one got a good grip on my heart

Hm... It is not that hard to think pink after all! Some things along the way make it easy.

Swala Gems just registered to Pricescope and this comes from them:

... with a pretty ambitious description stating 'this color is unbelievable' (or something close). The (imperfect) picture and the description makes me think of a certain recent load of Morogoro spinel with out of this world pinks and sometimes slightly hazy texture. 4 carats and about $ 3k, btw.

Impressive ? It is for me.

The one below comes from a seller registered with Gemwow - large and cut in my favorite shape... couldn't miss it!

GULP! That's Gorgeous!

Make sure you check out concavegems.com in your search.
They have a nice purple sapphire, and some nice tourmaline.

Scintillating...

Here's a pink tourmaline halo
This reminds me... about those purple-red stones that walk the line between ruby and sapphire. Difficult to find (because most would be called ruby and it is not straightforward to ask for a 'purple ruby' or 'pink ruby' when the thing is supposed to be valued for how red it is), but very easy to fall in ove with!

There is one listed here that the seller also counted among their rubies for all the right reasons.

Some beautiful examples can be found for allot less than a king's ransom, apparently

and there's a whole world inbetween.

The pictures below come from HERE (Richard Orbach's Cherrypicked.com)

Persephone,
Where is the ring that you posted from (the gold one with pave on the basket)?

Have you considered a pink diamond?

Maybe you should also consider gold for your magenta stone, which I personally do not consider a pinkish color.

I like the "pinching"...because i have to admit that the one thing that makes me hesistate about this model is how similar it is to the Britney Spears engagement ring....

Persephone,
Where is the ring that you posted from (the gold one with pave on the basket)?
Vera Wang!
Comes in plain old regular white diamond too!!! Check out her website.

You''re not the first or the last to think this way, and there''s nothing wrong with going against tradition.

If you like pink, aside from a pink tourmaline, can I suggest a rubelite tourmaline? If you get it cut right, they have some pink hues to them. My second suggestion would be a hot pink or fushcia colored sapphire; if you can get one for a reasonable price.

As for the purple sapphires that people have posted for pics in this thread, I heard Lionel Richie did that very thing. Supposedly when he went to ask some woman to marry him, he decided to go with a purple sapphire for the engagement ring.

Persephone,
I went onto Vera Wang''s website and found the ring in platinum. It is my absolute DREAM setting. I want to give a picture of it to my mother, but I can''t seem to copy or save the image off of the website. Maybe it is like that on purpose. Anyhow, do you happen to have a picture of it that you can post on here. If you don''t have a pic of the platinum one, but do have a full pic of the gold one that you posted part of, that would be helpful too.

Thanks a bunch!!!
