my GF really ,likes this style, I''m not toooo into it, but I guess it''s not about what I want.

I actually was going to get her a 1.5 center stone Vatche X-Prong, but she didn''t like it when I casually showed her the pic. Instead she likes this style with a center stone in the .95-1.0 ct range. Anyone have any links of similar rings? These are the best pics I found.

I'm also thinking of not getting the pave stones, but instead just small round stones to compliment the center stone...

You're so thoughtful to want your girlfriend to have a beautiful ring. Though your ering ideas are lovely, it seems like she has something else in mind. I'm not sure how soon you want to purchase her ering, but she needs to be in love with it. It's a big purchase, but more importantly she'll think of her Sweetie everytime she wears it.

My husband had wanted to get me a 1+ ct stone, but I fell in love with a .91 ct. It just sang to me and I adore my ring and everything it symbolizes. Once he got over that it wasn't a "full" carat, he realized how truly beautiful it was.

Good luck.

I have never seen a ring like that one! Its very pretty. I will look today to see if I can come up with other pictures for you with a similar style.

You may be able to have a local jeweler make it for you. They could even design something similar to it, since you said you didn't want the pave diamonds.

i have seen a ring like that--on jennifer aniston's finger!

apparently brad designed it for her and calls it the "promise cut". (i don't know why it's called promise cut when it refers to a setting, but whatever. if brad wanted to give me a diamond ring and call it a ford pinto, that'd be just dandy with me.)

i think the ring is very pretty and unique. however, my personal .02 is that it might not look right with small stones instead of pave--i think it would be overwhelming and detract from the center stone. plus, your GF said she wants it with the pave--which means you should get it with the pave! we women are very particular.

thanks VAgal13! It took me forever to find that style, we saw it together at a jeweler in Toronto. The jeweler was kinda shady so I've been trying to find that style somewhere else!

Reena- you had me rolling with the Brad Pitt comment..ha! She actually never seen it with the pave set...she may or may not like that style.. I hope I can find some more rings in this style with either pave or other small stone complimenting the center round cut...

oh ok, i see . . . i still vote for the pave though.
love.gif
what did the ring she pointed out to you look like?

Reena- OMG, I was cracking up! Brad Pitt is definitely a piece of eye candy...heck, he could even give me a ring from the gumball machine and I would be happy to wear it! Geeeerrrroooowwwwlll.

Back to the topic at hand...does your gf like the swirl part of it? Since you said she has never seen it w/ the pave, I was just wondering what parts she likes the best. That way, we can overload you with pics...

Thanks.

P.S. Reena is the Queen of finding excellent ring pictures, so you're working with a pro!

lol, thanks--but really it's more like "reena is the queen of procrastinating/flirting with getting fired by searching the web for diamond rings all day long. she'll soon be unemployed and then she'll be REALLY helpful."

Nice choice~! I love pave set mountings.

^ I LOVE the last one!!! But I think my girl wants the sidestones... katbadness- thanks alot!

OMG--I'd take the one posted by katbadness with that 1-1/2 carat you wanted to buy her... in a heartbeat!!!
Maybe you should show this design to her. Honestly, and I know everyone will admonish me for saying so, but I think the majority of the money should go into the diamond and not the mounting, i.e. in one stone and not spread amongst lots of little tiny stones -- JMO.
Personally, the design she likes is just a bit busy for me. While I can appreciate her not caring for the x-prong, as it is just a bit too "chunky", too much metal for me, that design posted by katbadness is to die for.

i too think that the ring KB posted is pretty--but be careful, some people (like me) just don't like plain solitaires for themselves. (before anyone yells at me, im using "plain" to connote no sidestones or pave.) your GF might be one of those people, especially considering that she has expressed an interest in this fairly intricate and unique design. maybe do what headlight suggested and show her the non-pave version--unless it would blow your surprise.

As I suspected... showed the gf some of the rings.. she liked the one I posted... wasnt toooo excited about the damaini one... but I still think it's sweet.

I love that last one!

I agree that it may be a good thing to sneakily show her a few rings and see what she says about the ones posted here.

Katbadness-great job with finding all these rings!!!! You rock! (excuse the punn)

I have been looking, but have been unsuccessful in my quest.

Thanks guys... Glad I can help.

Honestly, though, can't you tell I'm a jewelry design junkie?

synth19 --

If the original design looks too busy for you, maybe you can scale the size of the diamonds set on the setting so they're smaller -- that way the center stone doesn't look as if it's engulfed in the setting.

So, not pave, but not quite the intricacy of the original setting.

i like that KB! it's the engulfing part that bothered me, too. your photoshopped version is great--looks like the michael b trois ring but with that "swirl" look from the original ring.

What vision! I LOVE IT!

I agree KB...that makes all the difference! The center stone really pops out at you now.

The larger stone really makes a difference. Now it looks enhanced. Before it almost blended with the swirl.

Nice job.

That looks great! Nice job! I like your version more...do I pay for your commission by check?

Hahaha...

Maybe I should file for design rights and get royalty anytime anybody uses the design...

... uhm... that wouldn't work...

Oh yeah.. how about you just name your first born with my avatar name... Yeah that's it..

Kidding aside, though, synth19...
To get the same "look" you probably need to either shop around to find a swirl ring design that doesn't engulf your center stone... OR... get a custom jeweler to make one for you.

Going custom allows you to have control of every aspect of the design.. from width of the swirl, the material, whether you want a tapered band towards the swirl vs. band that has the same width as the width of the swirl throughout...

Man... I really wish my photoshop skill is good enough to show all these things that I can picture in my head...
