This might be an impossible ask but…

The bottom photo is my size 2 finger trying on a 0.75ct pear.

What carat size do you think I need to get the same look/finger coverage of the top photo? I’ve tried on a few rings but the bands are so huge & the settling so complicated it’s hard to judge.

Thank you

I think the biggest issue here is that the 2 pears are very different in shape. The top is cut more "fat", and the bottom is "elongated". The top stone also looks larger overall, but the biggest and mmost obvious difference to my eye is the shape.

Agreed with Lovedogs.

Do we know what size finger is in the top photo? (Is that your finger too, or a stranger's finger?)

I agree. I much prefer fat pears like the top photo

I think it might be a 4. It’s a strangers finger

Are you looking for similar length as the 0.75ct you tried, just with a fatter bottom? Lol. Or are you looking for larger overall?

Check out diamdb.com. The average size 3 finger is 14 mm across. I just input some guesstimate dimensions and got this result. Seems like a width of 7 mm would work. I'm thinking a 1.6 to 1.7 ct might be ideal?

diamdb is a great tool. I think you need a pear around 8.5 x 6.5 ish. This may even be a little too big on your size 2 finger because
diamdb only goes down to size 3. You probably already know that carat weight/sizes vary greatly for pears.

A stone of this size may range between 1.2 - 1.5ish depending on how deep its cut.

I was going to guess about a 1.2 or 1.3 chubby pear, but diamdb is probably more accurate than my guess =)2

Yes I think you guys are right. Judging by this I’m looking for around 1.25ct & a fat pear. This is a long term plan (for our 10th wedding anniversary) so I have plenty of time but it does give me an idea of how much we need to save for it! Currently I have a 0.3ct so I’m looking forward to the extra coverage!
