Thoughts on this emerald's colour?

Recently had James Allen make this ring for me. I love the ring and the stone but I'm worried that the colour saturation is too light. I chose to sacrifice some colour for clarity. PXL_20211130_194506104.jpgPXL_20211130_194506104.jpgPXL_20211130_194452431.jpgPXL_20211130_194427919.jpg

I am far from an emerald expert and tend to go against the "trade ideal" and prefer this blueish shade of emerald. Your ring is gorgeous! Congrats to you.

Do you love it?

I love this color!

Maybe don't get too caught up in "ideal." There are a few things that I fell in love with until I started hanging around here and second-guessing my taste. One was a medium-tone blue-green emerald like yours -- with high clarity. It was just so pretty. Recently saw an antique pendant locally with an emerald of the same hue and tone and was drawn to it from across the room.

Perfect emeralds are a dime a dozen -- just look on IG :lol-2:

I also love the mid tone crystalline look. I think it’s so pretty.

Whether it is too light is personal preference. Personally, I prefer something a shade deeper.

As you said, you operated within your budget and prioritized clarity. That you love it is all that matters. I do enjoy how clean it is, and you know what, you don’t have to worry so much about your emerald cracking or breaking from a blow.

The tone is lighter than the trade ideal, but it’s a beautiful gem, and if you love it, that’s what matters. You often have to sacrifice color for clarity with emerald. The darker gems, especially South American stones, are more cracked because of the extra chromium content. However chromium is what makes the color so beautiful in beryl.

I love it! :kiss2:

I do love it but I was worried it would be seen as "green Beryl" instead of emerald.

Thank you everyone. I've been away for a while but I plan on stopping by more. Appreciate your kindness and opinions. Thank you

It’s a beautiful ring and I also love the colour. Some prefer a deeper green or perhaps more vivid tone but each to their own taste.
Some decide size is most important, or clarity , others origin or treatment, again each to their own taste.
Buy and love YOUR choices.

That's beautiful. It isn't really that light in color. It's just not as strongly green toned as some emerald. It's more of a blue-green.

I like the ring setting and the stone, however, it is on the light side for my own personal colour preferences.

Lovely color, don’t worry what other people think. You know it’s an emerald and a lovely one, too.
