e-wedding bands was having a sale last week so I ordered one of their yellow gold comfort fit bands. I have been searching for a wedding band to go with my ER. I've gotten mixed reviews on the yellow gold from people I know and am wanting opinions. Should I stick with the yellow gold or switch to platinum? TIA

Your engagement ring is so gorgeous!!! I think I'd prefer a platinum band, because that engagement ring needs to be the star of the show and the yellow gold draws your eye to it just because it is different.

I would say that if you go with yg then it needs another band on top of the e-ring for balance and to look purposeful, not mismatched. I went through the same process with rg and my platinum. Hubby ended up buying platinum and taking the decision from me which was a good thing as I tend to over analyze.

I love it like that! I think it adds warmth and interest in a way that, to my eye, enhances your ering. I think it makes your diamonds pop, whereas they'd get more lost (blendy) in a larger sea of white metal.

I'm going to disagree with the others, because I LOVE the gold with the platinum. There is something very regal about it, but that may just be me because here in the UK, most of the Royal family were engaged with platinum rings but married with a plain Welsh gold band. I think it adds visual interest. I wouldn't say no to another platinum band going on there too, but I'd be more than happy to mix it like this.

That emerald cut by the way.... serious dribble!!!!!

I’m in Camp YG band as well, but that’s because I think - with that gorgeous ER - a platinum w-band might be a little lost. So, if you want your set to clearly reflect ‘married’, then I say keep the YG band since it subtly stands apart. If you are more a ‘matchy-matchy’ person and/or don’t care if your finger clearly reflects ‘married’ vs. ‘engaged’, then go platinum. But I really do think they look lovely together, and agree with the reference above to the UK Royal family, as that was my first thought as well. It kind of reminds me of Camilla’s set below.

Yes!! That was one of my arguments to my sister! I said the royals do it, why can't I?

A mini version of Camilla's. I wear a lot of yellow gold so it's part of the reason I'm leaning towards a yellow gold band.

Your ER is NOTHING to sneeze at! :naughty: It looks pretty sizeable on your finger, and I prefer yours to Camilla’s. The double claw prongs just look so elegant; I love it!

I love it! I think it makes your beautiful EC pop. Your ering is gorgeous!

I think it looks perfect as it is.

Fits perfectly:love:

Well, I thought I share too! So I like mixing metals and other days I just wear my yellow gold band antique band (I think 18k yellow outside and platinum inside..it’s like two fused metals together!) So I have best of both worlds! D55B60B1-6177-498C-9AB8-AB45E69B9AFA.jpeg So you do you!

The little pave band will be much lower in height than the gold band. You'd have to have one made higher. But I think the thinnest band looks best in the middle. If I wanted to mix metals, I'd have the plat e-ring, a thin gold band, then a platinum or plat diamond band at the bottom But in the case of your e-ring, I'd really just wear one band to not distract from the e-ring, regardless of the color of the metal.

I mix and match metals all the time.
I would do a thinner yg band with that ering, but color wise I think it is just fine esp if you are doing 2 tone earrings and necklace/bracelets with it

BTW- your ring is beautiful!!

I think they look gorgeous together!

I love it - my wedding band is a two tone WG-YG with my platinum engagement ring so I’m a little biased. Your pairing looks gorgeous.
I think a rich gold band is both a total classic and also a little bit different since so many people match their bands to their engagement rings

You have a gorgeous e-ring!!
While I usually prefer not mixing metals, I am a huge fan of this look. Very British Royal family as others have commented. A platinum band will get lost. I hope you will keep it like this. To my eyes it does not need an additional platinum band

I love it. I’m usually not for mixed metals but this is very “royal family “ and I’m al about it

Thank you! I didn't think about it being a different height.

This forum is so helpful, thank you all! I think I'm going to keep the yellow gold. I really like the contrast it provides to separate the two bands. And I really love yellow gold. It might not be every ones cup of tea (IRL that I know) but that's ok.

I love the mix!!!!! Some days I put on all platinum and before I'm out the door, I find that I have gone back to the jewelry box to add in a yg band! It's interesting and fun too!

I had to come back to add that I think the yellow gold band really makes your diamonds pop! I love it! When I opened your thread, my first reaction was, WOW!

I love love love this combo. It’s a winner!
