Hi! I am a total newbie, (this is my 1st post, as I just signed up today!) but felt I just had to say thanks to MelissaSue & AmberGretchen for their wonderful blogs back and forth on bridal dresses from last year (by the way, congrats Mrs. AmberGretchen!), Which drove me to register online to this site today. Last week, I was looking for info on Bridesave and one of the suggestions sent me to this website. My excitement grew tremendously while watching AmberGretchen''s journey and transformation and I took in all of the wonderful advise the generous had to offer her during her wedding planning. It is because of the great advise she received from MelissaSue, I found my dream dress at Bridalmart for a STEAL! I am so excited and sooooooooo happy I could find this dress for under $500! I was beginning to lose hope. Now I just have to get my bridesmaids to come to agreement on something that coordinates with this dress. I am getting married 8/25/07. Does anyone have any suggestions on nice looking bridesmaid''s dresses that would look nice with my dress? My bridesmaids are concerned in the "re-wearability" of their dresses, and not so much anything else. My colors are champagne and black. Thanks out there to anyone that is listening!!!

WOWSER! That dress is gorgeousssss! I''m glad the fact that I was a wedding nerd helped you out. :) Do you have a picture of the back of the dress or the train?! Its soo pretty..

Ooh and this BM dress in black would be cute with your dress and rewearable.. Doesn''t seem to come in a champagne color..

This one also seems like it would go well with your dress.. I like the beading

And this is one of my all time favorite BM dresses and the neckline is similar to the neckline on your dress. I don''t know about re-wearability.. but if you''re going for a more formal look (I found that short BM dresses seemed too informal for my taste.. so I picked long ones)

First off, congratulations!

Have you considered allowing them to choose their own dresses? Perhaps by choosing one of the two colors a style (formal, informal, cocktail) and a length (tea, knee, floor, etc.). That way they'll each be able to wear their dress again. Or perhaps something like these? Black is a great color to chose because the little black dress is the ultimate in rewearable.

ETA: This one is my favorite because it's straps match that of your dress and the style (princess, slight A-line) is extremely figure friendly:

The metallic dots in this dress would incorporate your champagne colo (I'm not a big fan of the dress but you might like the style)r:

thanks MelissaSue!! here is the back of the dress...
now the hard part, losing the inches so I look GREAT in this GREAT dress!!! I am so nervous and scared!
Hey, and a great big THANK YOU for the BM dress ideas. I printed them off so I can show my gang this weekend! Also, which Jordan dress did you like?
it didn''t come through when you sent the link, it gave
me a whole page of different dresses.

Kimberly, yes, actually I did give the girls the option of picking out their own dresses. They really like the concept of wearing separates. They want to all have the same colors on and then do their own style. The different style part makes me nervous though. But I am going to try not to be such a "control freak" on this thing!!!! Wish me luck!
Thank you sooooooo much for the suggestions from JCrew. I am going to print these off too for our get together this weekend!

I boguht my wedding dress at Alfred Angelo and they had a decent variety of BM seperates (I did not have BMs). I know it''s hard, but this is the only the beginning of planning, sometimes letting go of controlling things is the best approach.

Here''s a link to their store locator:

if YOU dont'' like the different style option..then don''t let the girls push you into it. if you like it thats cool (it was totally NOT my style).. but don''t let them force you into it.. at least set some guidelines.. For instance I was in a friends wedding where she said NOT strapless and floor length.. all in Peri by David''s bridal..

Aww...I just saw this - I''m so glad my obsessive-compulsive wedding planning helped someone (though MelissaSue is WAY WAY WAY better than I am - I swear she can find ANYTHING wedding-related online). Anyway, your dress is gorgeous and I''m so glad you were able to find it in your price range - best of luck with both the bridesmaids dresses and the weight loss, and I''m sure the wedding will be beautiful
