Ladies, today I went with my DH to Tiffany''s in the city!! It was great!! We met a wonderful SA, which turns out to be a cousin of a senior registrar I worked for last year! We tried on the classic solitaire, lucida, the marquise solitaire and the lovely and beautiful Novo. Hands down, DH and I were both in love with the Novo! The other rings were beautiful but did not look right on me. We tried a 1ct Novo (that was the largest they had), which looked like a perfect size for me. It was so sparkly and looked even more beautiful with the Novo w-band. It was an H colour, and I could see significant warmth compared to my D princess that I was wearing... so we`re thinking we probably won''t go beyond a G.

Anyways, it was a wonderful experience and I wanted to share it with you girls!! As said previously, this thread is so much fun!!

Oh that sounds like fun. I love that ring (sadly I fell in love with a 28k 1.5 ct ring).

Is that your kitten??? How cute! Looks a lot like my cat when she was a little baby!

No problem, I might be asking for it back. I might be taking my own advice now. I can''t go into details here (just because it is a public place and it would be too much info), but me and my BF might not be moving in together at the end of this year. I might be getting a job in a place where he cannot find one. It looks like we might be in a long distance relationship. I am still trying to deal with everything in my head. And nothing is set in stone. I am kind of a worrier, so this has got me worked up. The good news is that he is still ready to make this work, and is being very positive. That makes me happy.

BTW, how did you get all those pics???? After reading what you said, I agree the legacy would be the best option.

Oh LtlFirecracker! Don''t mean to butt in but I just wanted to send some good vibes your way! LDRs can definitely work and it is so great that your SO is on board to work it out! *Hugs*

Thanks LabRatPhD,

Still trying to soak everything in. Life is always throwing curve balls

ETA: Guys have a one track mind. They are not good multitaskers. If they are thinking about the job, they cannot think about anything else. I read some where that girls have larger corpus callosum. That is the part of our brain that allows crossing over between two halves. That has been used to show a possible explanation for the fact that women are often thinking about several things at once, and can jump from idea to idea. I am not sure if there is much weight to it, but I think it does illustrate a difference in the way men and women think.

Fireckracker, I`m sorry to hear you and your SO might have to be in a long-distance relationship. I know it`s not final, but I want you to know that eventhough it`s hard work, it is doable. DH and I were in a LDR for 3 years and if anything, it made our relationship stronger.

Yes, the avatar is our baby boy Nino. We also have another kitty girl, called Lula. I`ll try to attach her pic when she was a baby.

Yeah, it is quite dangerous at Tiffany`s!! It`s very easy to fall in love with very expensive items!! I told DH prices for Novo start at $15,000 AUD for 1ct, so he was shocked when the one we saw - 1ct, H, VVS1 was $20,000. I explained to him that the starting price is for I VS2... It`s easy to get way past the starting price if you want a better colour etc... I`m still not 100% sure I`ll be getting the set in the end, because I feel quite guilty just thinking about spending so much money on diamonds. But the Novo just looks sooooo beautiful!!! Can't get out of my mind how delicate and sparkly the set is. The worst part is my DH is so enabling because he loved it too.

I`m also posting a picture of my cats now they they`re grown up (they`re 3 yrs now). Please post a pic of your cat(s) too!!

I agree, it looks totally classic.

I tried on a couple of tapered baguette rings (RB and emerald) today, and they're gorgeous, but they look way too delicate on my hand
7.gif
I don't know if I just have super big fingers or what, but I totally wish Tiff's did a thicker band with the tapered baguettes.

You went there and tried on MY DREAM RING and didn't take me with you!?!?
3.gif
I need more info...diamond sizes please! I guess it is rather dellicate. Hmmm.....I love delicate! (I prefer thin bands over thick) You are making me want to go back to Tiff's soooooooo bad right now. lol I'm Tiffany hungry...

Dreamgirl, I can see why it`s so difficult to pick a right w-band for the baguette e-ring! One thing is seeing these pictures, but I suspect reality will be totally different... I also like the combination with the Novo and the Legacy, but I agree that you should try them on all first before deciding which e-ring you go for... because the biggest advantage of the classic solitaire is it will go virtually with any w-band... and as you said, the combination of e- and w-band is what really matters long-term.
Exactly what I''m saying! And really, you can''t go wrong with the Tiffany Setting. But I would love to see the combos of wedding bands with that vs. baguettes setting to see THEN if I love one more over the other...

Well, I'm here for you girl!
2.gif
Whatever happens, I'm sure it will all work out in the end.

I'm a graphic designer so it came easy to me.
27.gif
I got them from the website and resized them to the same width as the e-ring and put them together in Photoshop. The whole reason I did that was after my last trip there in December, I wanted to see what the different wedding bands looked like with this e-ring (after only trying it on with the Novo) and I knew I wouldn't be going back for a while. So to tame my needing to see...I did the next best thing...lol crazy I know!

Thanks for the info! It makes total sense to me as I'm thinking about ALL sorts of things all day long....my mind never stops! lol

The one in my city only opened less than 2 years ago. I''m afraid that it doesn''t get a lot of business in the fine jewelry area (mostly just silver). Considering the next closest one is an hour and a half away, our''s may get the axe.
7.gif
I guess I feel fortunate to have gotten my ring now. SO would have been so irritated if we had to drive 3 hours (to and back) several times to look at rings!

We''ve got 2 stores out here (both on the strip, @ 2 separate hotels/casinos) so i''d be ok if one closed, as long as the other stays open! who knows in this economy, though. Vegas has been hit pretty hard, so it''s impossible to say what will happen!

So which T&Co is everyone's store here?

Mine is Denver. And THE only ONE! I would HATE HATE HATE for them to close this one. Because after that, the next closest ones are Phoenix and Kansas City...

Mine is Austin, TX. I like this store because it is new and the staff is very laid back (just like everything else in Austin!). The next closest one is in San Antonio which stinks because I am not a fan of driving to or being in SA (no offense to anyone in SA!). Then the only other ones in this state are Dallas and Houston which are 3 hours away!

We only have one in San Diego. I really don''t like it at all. They are so rude to me, unless of curse my BF is with me. So annoying. So I usually make a point to go when I am on vacation. My favorite is the SF Tiffany''s because they were really nice and they had some cool stuff (Dreamgirl, picture your dream ring with a 1 ct blue diamond). I could not stop looking it it, turns out it was the most expensive item in the store.

BOO
38.gif
i dont have one near me at all. Im in the canadian rockies and i think a department store in calgary might stock some tiffany stuff, but i dont even know if they do diamonds or not.... so i wont be having any exciting ring-trying-on expeditions for awhile

I wish I could take you with me!! It would be so much fun to go shopping at Tiffany''s with fellow ''addicts''!! Lol... I tried The Novo/Lucida/Classic setting all in 1 carat sizes plus I also tried the Classic in 1.3ct size. For some reason these are the biggest sizes they had there for these settings. The marquise however was 2ct and was a beauty!! But it sits so low all the way that you cannot wear a wedding band next to it. My ring size is 4.5 so 1ct size looks quite good on me!

My store is in the Brisbane CBD, Australia. It is about 10 mins from my home
3.gif
but I have to keep in check my temptation to go in there all the time before they put a sign up with my name not to let me in... The store was only open few years ago so it would be a great shame if they had to close it down. The thing is in Australia, people don''t really buy big diamonds, that''s why their inventory is mainly under 1ct rings. I think most of their business is silver jewellery. I hardly see people actually ''buying'' diamonds there. I quite like our store, everybody is quite nice. But then I can''t compare, because I`ve never been to another store before.

I think MO is a little bit of a trip from Denver, but I''ll be sure to invite next time
1.gif
You can try on the thin bands, and I''ll monopolize their Lucidas.

Sizes, as close as I can remember:
RB w/ tapered baguettes - 1ct
emerald w/ tapered baguettes - 1ct
Lucida (square) - 1ct, .8ct, 1.4ct
Lucida (rectangle) - 1ct, 1.2ct
Novo - 1ct

The store I go to is a bit on the small side (well, compared to Chicago or the other major cities), so most of the rings they had were in the 1ct, just under 1ct, and just over 1ct range. The SA said they could have other ones brought in if I asked, but I''d rather consult with B on that first.

I''m sad! SO and I went to the shopping center where T&Co is located and I wanted to look at wedding bands
31.gif
(even though my e-ring is still not back!) and T&Co was closed! There was a sign on the door saying they are cutting back their open hours!
7.gif
I REALLY hope this isn''t a sign of worse things to come!
39.gif

I hope the one near me is okay! I''ll be sure to check on it several times a week (just picked up a part-time job at the J. Crew right near it).

lol that''s ok. I''ll go to Tiffany with ANYONE!!!
31.gif

Speaking of Tiffany and the possible closing down some stores...I spoke with S on Friday night about my worries again. He just thinks that since times are tough, people just don''t want to spend money on luxury items right now. I told him I don''t want them to close before I get "our" dream ring (
27.gif
) and then he told me: "Who would want to buy something from a store that''s going to close anyway? How would you get it serviced?"
23.gif
NOOOOOO!!!!! I told him that there is NO WAY they would close all Tiffany stores! I think he''s starting to think they will go under
39.gif
Then he tells me there are other stores out there.....this is THE FIRST time he has mentioned (a ring) from somewhere else! Then I told him: "But...your the one who pointed out those 2 rings and I love them so dearly, you know that!!! You got my heart set on them!"
4.gif
Then he told me not to worry about these sorts of things that it''s out of my control...(but I still worry about it) lol

Who knows, knowing my luck...they will close by the time I even get engaged (because it isn''t going to happen anytime soon) and then I''ll just get something else from somewhere else instead!
40.gif
Obviously I''ll love anything he will give me. But we have always talked about Tiffany for an engagement ring and he always sounded like he was leaning towards it. So of course, that''s what I want! I''ve looked at other rings elsewhere and none of them make my heart pound like the ones at Tiff''s.....

UUUUG....I almost wish I would stop thinking about it all together. lol Ultimately he''s the one who will buy me the ring. It''s really for him to worry about and not me......so then why does this bother me all the time?
