Hey guys-

I hope you all enjoyed your weekends! I went to the new Natick mall in Massachusetts this weekend with my boyfriend''s mother and my boyfriend''s brother''s girlfriend. We went to Tiffany''s because I wanted to look at the new somerset ring in person to see if that is something that I would want for Christmas. It is really pretty by the way! The saleswoman was extremely nice and asked if I was my boyfriend''s mom''s daughter. When we told the woman that we were the girlfriends of her sons she got all excited and wanted to know if we were looking for rings. Obviously, having been educated by Pricescope...Tiffany''s is beautiful and all but if you want a big rock you do not go there since it is overpriced. My boyfriend''s mom got excited and pushed me over to the diamonds to try on rings. My boyfriend''s brother and his girlfriend have only been dating for 6 months so she was a little freaked out, hahaha. It was pretty funny. I tried on 3 rings: a 3 carat pear in a Tiffany''s solitare setting (GORGEOUS), the Tiffany Novo in a 1.5 carat with 2 matching bands (GORGEOUS), and then the last was a pleasant surprise! It was only .90 carats and an affordable price but it LOOKED massive on my finger and the setting was to die for. I didn''t think I would like it but it looked like it was made for my finger. What surprised me is that I am a size 7 and it looked fine with it under a carat. So here is another potential contender, the round brillant ribbon ring: http://www.tiffany.com/Engagement/Item.aspx?sku=22324853

WOW that ring is gorgeous! It is very different and unique but gorgeous! I have never been to tiffany''s as they are very pricy but i think that you found one that was decently priced! It is very beautiful! Congrats!

Oh my gosh, this is too funny! One of my friends has a ring that looks IDENTICAL to that--in plastic, from Macy''s

We were just talking about it the other day and how she should have her eventual e-ring modeled after it. I was even gonna post a rockytalk thread to help us find a similar "real" setting. You saved me a thread!

Anyway, so of course I think it''s a gorgeous ring. Congratulations on finding a contender!

So glad you had a good time! I haven''t made it out to the new Natick mall yet, but have been by it several times during construction, it sounds like they have a nice selection at that Tiffany''s!

All of those rings sound gorgeous and I love the ribbon ring as well--the good news is that because that design is a year or two old now (I remember it had just come out when we were e-ring shopping), now other B&M stores are creating similar settings which is always good!

Just wanted to say that I LOVE that ring! I am anything but a traditional ring lover (and that is a little traditional for me), but it is just gorgeous!!... I would love to try it on, I think you have just inspired me to go play in Tiffany''s!!!

Thanks everyone for responding to my post! I really appreciate it and some of you have given me some good advice.

diamondsgirl22- You should definitely check out their selection. Even though some are overpriced you can get a great idea for something custom!

musey- Glad i could save you a thread and a search for a replica of your friend's plastic ring! The good thing about that piece is that even if you have large fingers the ring miraculously looks big! Unfortunately because it is Tiffany's a 1 carat ring in that setting was around $10,000...insane!

NewEnglandLady- Definitely make a trip to Natick soon...it is beautiful, and the best part is that they have the same stores from the original Natick mall, which are resonable priced stores, and then you walk into the new section and it is something off of 5th avenue in NYC....INCREDIBLE. The Anthropologie and Burberry stores are very cool. Where are you from in Mass? It looks like your wedding was in Cape Cod somwhere...I will definitely have to check out your posts later because I would love to get married somewhere on the Cape someday.

CrookedRock- I am so glad that I inspired you to go to Tiffany's! I was intimidated to try on rings there, because it is so "high end" but the saleswoman I had was extremely nice and even willing to let me try on 6 digit priced rings! I think it is fun for them and even though they are unlikely at making a sale I am sure they have fun inspiring people. HAHA!
