Tips and tricks for photographing diamond rings

We are very amateur photographers and don''t have much experience with photographing diamond rings. I have seen some rad photos that y''all have taken, including collages. Please will you share tips and tricks that you have learned. If you''ve taken a really awesome picture or put together a cool collage, please post it too. It would be nice and useful to have a thread to refer to for photo taking ideas.

Use a macro lens or setting on your camera. Take lots of pictures so you can throw away all the bad ones. Experiment, and have fun with your pictures.
