Im very concerned about my arms at the wedding I know it sounds silly but latley I''ve been considering getting a bolero to wear with my dress I haven''t tried one on yet because I cant find one but I was curious what you girls thought! I was thinking of a white lace bolero like chellebelles, My dress doesnt have any lace on it but I also feel its lacking something once again here is my dress what do you think?

Personally, I love the look of boleros. If my dress wasn''t so detailed already, I would be searching for a bolero right now (there is just too much going on with my dress already for a bolero) - I think that you couldn''t go wrong with one in that dress. But make sure that it is the perfect one - just like picking a dress! Either way, your dress will be beautiful and please don''t think that your dress will be lacking without one....If you feel that you want something over your shoulders, go for it!

I''m going to do a wrap in the same shade as my sash (champagne). My dress is ivory with a lace overlay, and since it''s pretty detailed, I decided not to do a bolero. I think a bolero would look great with your dress though!

I''m going with a wrap, too. It''s ivory with beading along the edges, which happens to match the beading on my dress quite nicely.

I''m loving boleros lately, as well. Chellebelle''s (sp?) pics thread made me YEARN for a strapless-with-bolero look, but in the end it just isn''t "me." Doesn''t stop me from dreamin''!

I think a bolero would look gorgeous with that dress. Maybe in a gray/silver tone similar to the "sash"?

I agree! It is such an elegant look.

Ohhh! I agree with Musey- if you could find a fabric similar in color/texture to your sash, you could get a bolero made in that color- that would look really cool! Or, if that would be too much color for you, one made of solid white fabric like in the below photo (I think this might be Ebree's dress by the way).

While I like lace boleros in theory, I think your dress is more "modern" whereas boleros made of lace have a more "antique" feel. But, by all means, try on some lace boleros with your dress to see how they look.

If you can't find/ have a seamstress make any type of bolero that works, I also like the wrap idea that others have mentioned.

However, having said all that, I think your arms look totally fine in the photo you posted, so I personally don't think you need anything to hide them! As for your dress "lacking" something, I think once you have on all of your bridal jewelry, head piece, your hair done, shoes, etc... that you won't find the look so lacking. Instead, I think it will look really sleek and sophisticated.

Good luck with it!

So, did you get the pretty one from David''s Bridal or did you choose something else?

Is that a sage green sash or silver? If I was wearing that dress for an outdoor wedding during the cooler months, I might wear a very soft pashmina in the color of my sash. There are a few examples on THEKNOT.COM in the ''real wedding'' photo galleries of brides using pashminas.

A sheer, organza wrap can be draped, tied, or pinned behind the back in an off the shoulder way that still gives coverage to the upper arms -- and gives the dress a completely different look. That would be an elegant, less informal choice than the pashmina.

I''m a 16 on the average day -- a 14 if it''s a particularly good day! So, I tried some boleros with some of the strapless styles. In MO, I looked like I was trying too hard to cover what I thought were problem areas; and in doing so, it just made those problems stand out more. I felt that my top half was too tight and constricted vs. the bell shaped bottom half -- I didn''t feel balanced. Does that make sense?

thanks everyone for the support! now where can I get one of these boleros???? or is it something I have to get made?

oops you must have posted when I did. its actually a verrrry light blue sash with a silvery tint thank you for the help in this. my wedding dress is a 16 but I''m a size 12 on a regular day haha I always wanted a dress with some lace and some how I didn''t get that haha so Im trying to add that into the gown, Im also getting the sash embroidered with flowers

GarysBride, that dress looks fabulous on you!! I love how the sash at the waist draws such great attention to your curves - got ''em? flaunt ''em!!. I think a bolero or wrap would look great with that dress. You may have to have one made, but it shouldn''t be too difficult for a good seamstress to put together.

I vote bolero because they look great and you can always take it off for part of the night if you are feeling different about it. Your dress looks great on you too, btw!

Personally I don''t think a lace bolero would be the right accent for your dress. If you go for a bolero, you might consider an organza or another smooth fabric.. maybe with a discrete lace trim? But you might want to start by trying on a few boleros to see how you like them.

If it''s a touch of lace you''re after... have you considered having some lace added to bodice, or maybe to the sash?

I didn''t get that particular one, because they didn''t have it in stock, but I got one that looks VERY similar, but without the scalloped edge. It''s purdy! :D
