I’m considering buying these rings.
If the seller is to be believed (after chatting with her while she seems pretty legit and is happy to come and meet me do I can loop them)... It’s a natural blue topaz with white zircons in 9ct gold.
The ring below it is a9ct gold amethyst I’m considering also.
She wants $100 for the Topaz and $80 for the Amethyst. (Aussie dollars).
They are cheap because she had them resized and they no longer have their gold marks -she is looking for a quick cash sale.
I asked for more photos and was very forthright in saying straight up they could be glass... she has sent more photos - none of which helped - in fact they made the Amethyst seem very included which she is insisting presents like the first picture and not the others ..... yeah I’m not sure about that.
Either way to do think these rings are worth what she is asking just in scrap value alone.
So I’m tempted to buy and for under $200 roll the dice.
My partner in the other hand doesn’t know why I’m bothering.

I really think these could make some gorgeous pieces.....
thoughts?

I think you’d need to see them in person. It looks like topaz may have a window in the first photo, but so hard to tell. I’d say it’s worth a look. You, in particular, could certainly find something wonderful to create with them.

Thanks so much. After a bit of thought I decided against it. To me - that colour looked more likely aqua marine but so often the colours are misrepresented in photos due to lighting etc.

I have looked around and it’s not worth taking the chance when I can just buy a stone I really like the look of for aroind the same money - and know what I am getting

Personally, I would not chance it.

You only have her words that they are made of precious metals as there are no hallmarks anymore!

The ring with the pale blue stone looks nice enough, however, the one with a purple stone is definitely a pass.

Personal opinion and all that.

DK :))

I’d pass, neither of them look to be particularly good quality. Both amethyst and topaz are relatively inexpensive stones anyway, so I’d keep looking.
