Today's THE DAY -- in 9 hours I'll be RETIRED!

Congratulations and welcome to the next exciting phase in your life. Enjoy every moment, you’ve earned it.

so how did it feel today, getting up for the first time as a retired person?

Congratulations!

Woo hoo for you! :appl:

Wooot! You did the twirl, yes? You have to do the twirl!

Later b*tches!

LOL IMY -- I didn't twirly, but I did leave the bank and drive down the highway at a hundred miles an hour grinning like a fool and breaking into spontaneous laughter... does that count?

This morning I slept in a little later than usual, but not much because I was pretty excited to get out of bed. That probably makes me sound crazy, ha ha. I took pictures for three listings, packed and order, did two loads of laundry, and took an hour long walk around the neighborhood. (Side note I am sooooo out of shape!) When TR got home the dogs and I were sitting on the couch drinking wine and internetting. It was GLORIOUS.

Thank you again everyone for being a part of this with me. I luv each and every one of you!

Congratulations!!!

Woo hoo!! Very happy for you @Dee*Jay !!IMG_2173.gif

Yay! I'm very happy for you @Dee*Jay !

Whoohoo! Congrats, sounded like a great first day of retirement ❤️

Ahh @Dee*Jay this is the most FABULOUS news! Huge congratulations to this new chapter: the one where you dedicate time to yourself & your own needs / priorities.

It made me chuckle that you were sat on the sofa with the pups & a glass of champers on the internet when your hubby got home, as that was EXACTLY me this afternoon :lol-2: Admittedly Mr T & I don’t retire until summer 2026 (I’ll be 52 & he’ll be 53 then, so it’s amazingly early & we are excited) but this is the FIRST weekend in ages we haven’t been away or had guests staying. We took the girls for a lazy, late lunch in the next village & then I vegged with the pup on the sofa, a glass of bubbles & an old episode of Midsomer Murders. It was 4pm & it was utter, utter bliss!

ENJOY!!

congradulaions @Dee*Jay
you made it :appl::appl::appl::appl::appl::appl::appl::appl::appl::appl::appl::appl::appl::appl:
i think tomorrow (monday) morning will be awsome, you can just roll over and roll into your first full week as a retiree

I'm so happy for you!
When we met in Vegas I got such a warm vibe from you.

Thank you again everyone for making me feel so good about this (as opposed to some of the people IRL. Ugh). One more snarky comment from a "friend," relative or neighbor and I'm afraid those middle fingers of mine might just shoot straight skyward on their own.

Ally, being 53 myself I think that's a FINE age to retire!

D&D, I've been eagerly awaiting your coverage from the latest royal wedding! Might you provide a picture of the new Duchess' engagement ring in the royal thread? I can't seem to find one.

Awww... thank you Kenny! I know I can be a bit "much" for some people, but I think you and I just get each other!

Retirement is such a personal thing - don’t let the naysayers get you down. If you get bored or want to do something different, you can always work - if just part time. I thought it would be a hard adjustment for me but I have really enjoyed the freedom. I wish you all the best and enjoyed spending time with you in Houston!

If you are referring to the Duke and Duchess of Westminster, they do not belong in the royal thread and theirs was not a royal wedding as they are not royalty.
